The Security Grates measured approximately 42 inches high by 2 inches wide by 42 inches long. The Security Grates tested were identified with Part Nos. T and T These part numbers were given to the Security Grates by Wyle Laboratories personnel as both Security Grates were unidentified and unmarked as received. 1.4 Summary Two Security System Grate Assemblies, as described in paragraph 1.3, were subjected to Environmental Testing in accordance with Wyle Quotation No. 542/045435/DB, dated February 15, Testing included: High Temperature, Low Temperature, and Ice Tests. A Wyle Laboratories Representative was present to witness and perform all required functional checks. The Security Grates were returned to Woven Electronics for post-test inspection and evaluation. The test results contained herein apply only to the Security Grates identified in this report.
4 Page No TEST PROCEDURES AND RESULTS 2.1 High Temperature Test One Security Grate (labeled Part No. T ) was subjected to a High Temperature Test in accordance with Wyle Quotation No. 542/045435/DB. Testing was performed on April 10, The Security Grate was placed in a Thermal Chamber and instrumented with a response thermocouple. The chamber temperature was then increased from +70ºF to +158 F. This temperature was held until the Security Grate temperature stabilized at +158ºF. The chamber temperature was then lowered to +70ºF, which was held until the Security Grate temperature stabilized at +70ºF. The stabilization times for the ramp to each extreme were recorded, and the chamber was programmed using this information to repeat this cycle 10 times. During the test cycles, the Security Grate was monitored using Woven Electronics-supplied fiber-optic test equipment. The data recorded during the test was saved into an Excel spreadsheet on a Woven Electronics-supplied laptop computer. Upon completion of the High Temperature Test, the Security Grate was visually inspected externally for any signs of damage and/or degradation resulting from the imposed test environment. No anomalies were noted. A photograph of the test setup is presented in Attachment A. The Temperature Circular Charts are presented in Attachment B. The Instrumentation Equipment Sheet for the test setup is presented in Attachment F. 2.2 Low Temperature Test One Security Grate (labeled Part No. T ) was subjected to a Low Temperature Test in accordance with Wyle Quotation No. 542/045435/DB. Testing was performed from April 17 through April 19, The Security Grate was placed in a Thermal Chamber and instrumented with a response thermocouple. The chamber temperature was then lowered from +70ºF to -40 F. This temperature was held until the Security Grate temperature stabilized at -40ºF. The chamber temperature was then increased to +70ºF, which was held until the Security Grate temperature stabilized at +70ºF.
5 Page No TEST PROCEDURES AND RESULTS (Continued) 2.2 Low Temperature Test (Continued) Upon completion of the Low Temperature Test, the Security Grate was visually inspected externally for any signs of damage and/or degradation resulting from the imposed test environment. No anomalies were noted. A photograph of the test setup is presented in Attachment A. The Temperature Circular Charts are presented in Attachment C. The Instrumentation Equipment Sheet for the test setup is presented in Attachment F. 2.3 Ice Test No. 1 One Security Grate (labeled Part No. T ) was subjected to an Ice Test in accordance with Wyle Quotation No. 542/045435/DB. Testing was performed from April 21 through April 25, The Security Grate was placed into a metal container inside a Thermal Chamber and instrumented with three response thermocouples. One response thermocouple was positioned on the surface of the Security Grate. The other two response thermocouples were positioned below the water line near, but not touching, the Security Grate to record the core water temperature. The metal container was filled with tap water to a depth of 21 inches. The chamber temperature was then lowered from +70ºF to -40 F. This temperature was held until the Security Grate temperature and core water temperature reached +25ºF. After this core water temperature was reached, the chamber was held to allow for 3 days of soak time. The chamber temperature was then increased to +70ºF, which was held until the Security Grate temperature stabilized at +70ºF. During the test, the Security Grate was monitored using Woven Electronics-supplied fiber-optic test equipment. The data recorded using this equipment during the test was saved into an Excel spreadsheet on a Woven Electronics-supplied laptop computer. Upon completion of the Ice Test, the Security Grate was visually inspected externally for any signs of damage and/or degradation resulting from the imposed test environment. No anomalies were noted. A photograph of the test setup is presented in Attachment A. The Temperature Circular Charts are presented in Attachment D. The Instrumentation Equipment Sheet for the test setup is presented in Attachment F.
