This European Technical Approval is issued by the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment (CSTB) in accordance with: - Council Directive 89/106/EEC of 21 December 1988 on the approximation of laws, regulations and administrative provisions of Member States relating to construction products 1, modified by the Council Directive 93/68/EEC of 22 July ; - Decree n of 8 July concerned the aptitude of usage for Construction Products; - Common Procedural Rules for Requesting, Preparing and the Granting of European Technical Approvals set out in the Annex of Commission Decision 94/23/EC4; - CUAP 06.02/08 Bolted glazing kit. 2. The Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment is authorised to check whether the provisions of this European Technical Approval are met. Checking may take place in the manufacturing plant (for example concerning the fulfilment of assumptions made in this European Technical Approval with regard to manufacturing). Nevertheless, the responsibility for the conformity of the products with the European Technical Approval and for their fitness for the intended use remains with the holder of the European Technical Approval. 3. This European Technical Approval is not to be transferred to manufacturers or agents of manufacturer other than those indicated on page 1; or manufacturing plants other than those announced to the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment. 4. This European Technical Approval may be withdrawn by the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment pursuant to Article 5 (1) of the Council Directive 89/106/EEC. 5. Reproduction of this European Technical Approval including transmission by electronic means shall be in full. However, partial reproduction can be made with the written consent of the Centre Scientifique et Technique du Bâtiment. In this case, partial reproduction has to be designated as such. Texts and drawings of advertising brochures shall not contradict or misuse the European Technical Approval. 6. The European Technical Approval is issued by the approval body in its official language. 3 Page 3 European Technical Approval ETA 12/0514 II. SPECIFIC CONDITIONS OF THE EUROPEAN TECHNICAL APPROVAL 1. Definition of product and intended use 1.1 Definition of product The canopy system is composed of a glass pane which is fixed to the wall by either rectangular or circular wall fixings. The canopy is available with 4 or 6 point fasteners. Relevant to ETA: point fasteners, wall fixing, tension rod and glazing. Not relevant to ETA: grinding or surface treatment of all metallic devices, the substructure to which the roof is attached. 1.2 Intended use This ETA covers a Bolted Glazing kit for use as canopy. The provisions and the verification and assessment methods included or referred to in the European Technical Approval have been written based upon the assumed working life of the Bolted glazing kit for the intended use of 25 years when installed in the work (provided that the Bolted glazing kit is subject to appropriate installation, use and maintenance, especially for silicone sealing between glass). These provisions are based upon the current state of the art and the available knowledge and experience.

4 Page 4 European Technical Approval ETA 12/ Characteristics of product and methods of verification 2.1 Characteristics of the product Bolted Glazing kit The bolted glazing kit used as canopy is composed of glazing, point fastener, wall fixings and tension rod. The glazing is installed horizontal or inclined up to 10 to the horizontal. The angle between tension rod and glazing is at least : wall fixing for tension rod; 2: tension rod; 3: wall fixing with point fastener; 4: point fastener glass with connection to tension rod Metallic parts The canopy is available with 4 or 6 point fasteners. In addition to the point fasteners the canopy kit includes wall fixings as well as a tension rod. The wall fixing can be executed with either round or rectangular wall plates. The metallic parts are fabricated in stainless steel according to EN :2005. The article numbers of each part are shown in the following table.

The used glazing has to be laminated safety glass according to EN glass in building basic products laminated glass and laminated safety glass made from heat strengthened glass according to EN 1863 glass in building basic products heat strengthened glass with or without enamel coating on position 2 of the laminated safety glass. The heat strengthened glass has to be produced out of float glass conform to EN 572 glass in building basic products part 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5.

8 Page 8 European Technical Approval ETA 12/0514 In Germany glass products used in construction works have to be chosen according to the Bauregelliste A part 1 defining additional requirements. For application in Germany laminated safety glass has to be produced according to Bauregelliste A Part 1, serial No out of heat strengthened glass according to a national technical approval for the use of heat strengthened glass made of float glass according to Bauregelliste A Part 1, serial No The respective national provisions of the member states not described here are to be respected if deviating from the indicated regulations. An enamel coating is possible on position 2 of the glass. Glass with enamel coating has to fulfill the respective national provisions. An area of 70 mm diameter around the drillings in the glass has to be spared out of the enamel coating. 11 Page 11 European Technical Approval ETA 12/ Evaluation of Conformity and CE marking 3.1 Attestation of conformity system The systems of attestation of conformity specified by the European Commission detailed in the Commission decision of 24/06/96, published in the EC Official Journal L254 of 08/10/96: According to the communication of the European Commission the system of conformity to be applied to the Bolted glazing kit is System 2+ (first possibility, including certification of the factory production control (FPC)) by an approved body on the basis of its continuous surveillance, assessment and approval. System 2+ a. Tasks for the manufacturer initial type testing of the product, factory production control. b. Tasks for the approved body initial inspection of the factory and factory production control, continuous surveillance, assessment and approval of the factory production control. In addition, according to the decision of the European Commission the system of attestation of conformity given in Table 2 applies to the system with regard to reaction to fire. 13 Page 13 European Technical Approval ETA 12/ Tasks of notified bodies The corner stones of the actions to be undertaken by the notified body in the procedure of attestation of conformity for the Bolted Glazing Kit are laid down in the following table. The manufacturer shall exercise permanent internal control of production. All the elements, requirements and provisions adopted by the manufacturer shall be documented in a systematic production control system shall ensure that the product is in conformity with the ETA. Manufacturers having a FPC system complying with EN ISO 9001: 2000 and addressing the requirements of an ETA are recognized as satisfying the FPC requirements of the Directive (according to CPD Guidance Paper B). No Subject/type of control (product, raw/constituent material, component - indicating characteristic concerned) Initial type-testing of the product (ITT) For initial type testing, the results of the tests performed as part of the assessment for the ETA shall be used unless there are changes in the production line or plant. Initial inspection of factory and factory production control (FPC) 2 The approved body shall ascertain that, in accordance with the prescribed test plan, the factory and the factory production control are suitable to ensure continuous and orderly manufacturing of the bolted glazing kit according to the specification given in the ETA. Continuous surveillance, judgment and assessment of factory production control (FPC) 3 The approval body shall visit the factory twice* a year. It has to verify the continuing conformity to the ETA, taking into account the prescribed test plan. * The number of inspections can be reduced to one audit per year for the firms whose quality assurance system is certified by an approved body in accordance with standard EN ISO 9001 of December 2000, and provided the quality assurance system is applied to the manufacture of the products covered by the Technical Application Document.

14 Page 14 European Technical Approval ETA 12/ CE marking and accompanying information According to Council Directive 93/68/EEC the CE marking consists of the letters "CE" in the form laid down in the Directive, followed by the identification number of the notified certification body, where applicable. For products subject to Council Directive 89/106/EEC the identification number of the notified certification body shall be given as system 1 of attestation of conformity applies. The CE marking of the Bolted Glazing Kit shall be accompanied by the following information: the name and address of the producer (legal entity responsible for the manufacture), the last two digits of the year in which the CE marking was affixed, Example of CE marking and accompanying information: CE Symbol. XXX Number of Notified Body. Any company, Any address Name and address of the manufacturer or his representative established in the EEA and of the plant where the product was manufactured. 15 Page 15 European Technical Approval ETA 12/ Assumptions under which the fitness of the product for the intended use was favourably assessed 4.1 Packaging, transport, storage of the product 4.2 Design Packing, storage and transport must ensure the protection of the metallic parts against damage, e.g. breakage, scratching, corrosion or contamination. On the arrival at the construction site, all parts have to be intact. Glass panes are to be moved using adequate transportation aids. The edges have to be protected at any time. When storing the glass panes, suitable supports have to be provided in order to protect the glass pane edges and surfaces. The glass pane surfaces are to be protected against scratching during transport and storage. The design of the Bolted glazing kit for application as canopy is performed case by case taking into account the respective national provisions in each member state. This ETA defines glass formats and maximum loads to be applied on the different configurations as well as the residual strength capacities. These configurations have been tested and verified. The mechanical devices are to be verified according to the national provisions of the respective member state taking into account the characteristic resistances given in Annex to this ETA. In addition to the calculation, the design shall take into account the choice of the glass type (single, laminated, tempered ) depending on the end use conditions, the type of breakage and national provisions. 4.3 Installation of the product in the works The application of the Bolted glazing kit as a canopy on its support shall be performed in appropriate conditions assuming following conditions: The displacement of the supporting structure shall be given by the carpenter, and assessed to be compatible with the canopy. The organization of the fixing point and free points provides an homogeneous behavior of the works. The application is only carried out according to the manufacturer s instructions. The manufacturer hands over the assembly instruction to the assembler. From the assembly instructions it is followed that, prior to installation, all components of the Bolted glazing kit shall be checked for their perfect condition. Damaged components shall not be used. The conformity of the installed Bolted glazing kit with provisions of the ETA is attested by the executing assembler.

16 Page 16 European Technical Approval ETA 12/ Use, maintenance, repair Damaged glass panes or damaged metallic parts have to be replaced immediately. The accessibility of the glass panes and metallic parts for maintenance and repair has to be secured. During the repair or replacement of a glass pane or a metallic device the surrounding area has to be safeguarded by suitable measures. In the tests a safety factor of 2,4 was taken into account. 19 Page 19 European Technical Approval ETA 12/0514 The load capacity of the metallic joints was determined by a testing procedure determining the characteristic load capacity of each joint in traction and shear. The statistical evaluation of the test results was executed according to EN 1990 in order to determine the characteristic load capacity. The load capacities for each joint are given in Table A2.
