2 Global Kids 5K Run/Walk Thank you for supporting the Global Kids 5K Run/Walk! Global Kids the premier nonprofit organization for global learning and youth development works to ensure that youth from underserved areas have the knowledge, skills, experiences and values they need to succeed in school, participate effectively in the democractic process, and achieve leadership in their communities and on the global stage. Global Kids is proud to host our 5K Run/Walk at Flushing Meadows Park on October 15, We expect more than 400 alumni, students, staff members, donors and corporate team participants to join us. Proceeds from the 5K Run/Walk will support the Global Kids College and Career Readiness Program, which provides one-on-one support to students as they prepare for life after high school. Through this program students can explore their options, go on college tours that include overnight trips, get help with their college, scholarship and financial aid applications, attend career days, participate in internships and receive job readiness training. 3 How to Set Up Your Corporate Team + Set up a team page at + Spread the word about Global Kids 5K Run/Walk. Use #RUN4GK in your social media posts. + Grow the team. Ask runners/walkers to sign up. + Encourage online fundraising. Share your goal and provide updates on progress. + Run/Walk for Global Kids! Thank you and your teammates for your support! 2016 GK 5K Corporate Team Guide 3
4 Campaign Timeline Work with the Global Kids development team to help you at each stage of Global Kids 5K Run/Walk campaign. 2 Months to Global Kids 5K Run/Walk + Connect with a member of the Global Kids development team and go over the campaign plan. Reach out to Ali at ali@globalkids.org or ext Have a meeting with company leadership and establish their support. + Set up your corporate team fundraising page on + Appoint a co-captain for every five to 10 employees. Past runners/walkers and strong networkers are ideal. + Set a team and individual goal. + Spread the word! Ask company vendors and local businesses to support the team or run/walk for Global Kids. + Hold a Global Kids 5K Run/Walk informational meeting invite a Global Kids staff member or student to talk about why Global Kids is important. + Follow up with a company-wide from leadership encouraging employees to sign up online and start fundraising. + Contact your public relations or corporate social responsibility team to help promote the event. + Send updates every few weeks to celebrate the team s progress and encourage team members to do even more GK 5K Corporate Team Guide
5 One Month to Global Kids 5K Run/Walk + Meet with your team members to help them fundraise. Have them list friends, neighbors and local organizations that they can reach out to. + Check in with co-captains and team members twice a month. Encourage fundraising and celebrate mini-milestones with company-wide s. + Talk with leadership about incentives to motivate the team, like a free lunch or an extra vacation day for top fundraisers. + Arrange for company signs and banners to promote your team at the event. + Forward the event poster to everyone in the company. + Send out a tweet and/or Facebook post promoting the event. Global Kids will provide sample tweets and posts. Please use #RUN4GK on all social media posts. One Week to Global Kids 5K Run/Walk + Rally fundraisers to meet their goals. + Collect race materials between 6:00-6:30PM at Global Kids HQ (137 East 25th Street, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10010) on October 14, Confirm meeting point for your team at the park. + Send out a tweet and/or Facebook post promoting the event. Global Kids will provide sample tweets and posts. Please use #RUN4GK on all social media posts. Important Dates October 1, 2016 Early bird registration ends. 7 How To Set Up a Personal Fundraising Page 1 Go to fundraise.globalkids.org Click on "Create a Fundraising Page." 2 Enter your and password to create a fundraising page. 3 Follow the instructions after logging into your new fundraising page.
