3 Fireward Low Pressure Watermist Systems 2 Efficiency The potential for fires to develop rapidly - fuelled by a wide range of combustibles in large open areas - means that for traditional bulb activated sprinkler systems, the fire is already at a critical level before the system is activated. Stored water capacity requirements for sprinkler systems may also be commercially or logistically infeasible in areas where space is at a premium. Designed with a modular approach to enable quick retrofitting to existing structures, using systems specifically tested for these risk types and designed in accordance with the recommendations of the latest applicable standards, Fireward s 24/7 automatic solutions offer: Atomised mist has an average droplet surface area 50 times greater than that of conventional sprinkler systems for the same volume of water. The increased surface area of the droplets, combined with the high speed at which they convert to steam, rapidly absorbs the energy of a fire. Entrainment of mist into the flame zone and its rapid conversion to steam leads to a localised reduction in oxygen from the flame front, which creates an inert atmosphere locally as it starves the combusting fuel of oxygen. 3 Commercial & Environmental Advantages 1 Rapid Response Early detection is critical. Utilising a range of detection methods depending on the risk type, hazard areas are zoned using the latest third-party accredited solutions, providing a rapid detection and suppression response to begin to control the fire at an early stage. By utilising these methods, watermist systems use minimal amounts of water when compared to other water based fire fighting methods. As a result, stored water and water supply requirements are dramatically reduced. Pipework becomes smaller and power requirements for smaller footprint pump skids also provide commercial benefits with respect to installation, as well as for servicing and maintenance over the system s lifespan. Cleanup is minimal following live fire scenarios, reducing downtime in production and minimising water damage. System reset is fast and simple. 4 5

4 3D Model Of The Area Shed Protection System Detection Our third-party listed Flame Detection utilises high performance unique IR3 and UV/IR detectors. These are highly resistant to harsh environments, reduce the risk of false alarms and are designed for use in outdoor or indoor applications. They provide an excellent solution to protect open areas such as machine hoppers, shredding chambers or biomass stores. Distribution System Fed from each individual zone valve assembly, corresponding to relevant detection zones, the specialist third-party accredited nozzle system atomises the water through its stainless steel pipe network, creating a much larger surface area of suspended mist to rapidly control and suppress the fire at an early stage. Operational Zones Each individual Zone or Area valve assembly incorporates an automatically operated Solenoid distribution valve. This is monitored for discharge confirmation, and is triggered via area suppression panels monitored by the house alarm or BMS. Main Feed 6 7
