4 Explosion Suppression E ipped in the bud Explosion suppression systems are designed to prevent the generation of high pressures by fuel-air explosions in vessels. Explosion suppression systems do not prevent an explosion from occurring but mitigate its effects on the protected equipment. The flame front is extinguished at the early stages of the explosion development, considerably reducing the risk of post-explosion fires and secondary explosions events.
