3 System Status Icons The user interface includes the following icons that provide an at-a-glance overview of the status of your system. The security status of your system is displayed in the large Security Status header. This is the Security Status header when the status is Armed. This is the Security Status header when the status is Disarmed. TouchScreen Getting Started with the Home Controller TouchScreen Your new TouchScreen acts as the control center that enables you to operate your security system and interact with your home at the touch of a button. Use it to arm and disarm your system, view live video from cameras placed in your home and view real-time web content, all from its full-color display. This section provides an overview of your TouchScreen and offers quick tips on how to use its various features. When you arm the system, an exit delay period begins. The System Status header indicates the number of seconds before the system is armed. You must exit the premises and secure the entry/exit door before the exit delay period ends. System & Zone Trouble Header The System & Zone Trouble header appears in the upper right hand side of the Subscriber Portal and TouchScreen. It only appears when there is a connectivity or power problem with the TouchScreen (power, broadband, etc.). It also appears when a sensor is inoperable (such as a battery failure) or is being tampered with. No Connectivity Power Failure Critical Sensor Failure Multiple Troubles When a System & Zone header is displayed, click it to display more information. Home Screen As the main display, your Home Screen provides quick access to all TouchScreen features. In addition to displaying the descriptive icons that make navigating easy, this screen provides a visible and audible alert if a sensor is triggered when the system is armed or if an environmental sensor, such as a smoke detector, is activated. Press the button on the TouchScreen at any time to return to the Home Screen.
4 TouchScreen TouchScreen Security Status Area The Security Status area in the middle of the Home Screen provides an at-a-glance overview of your system s security status. Security Features You can access most security-related features from the Status bar on the Home Screen, in the Security app or in the Settings app > Security category. To do this View current security status Arm and disarm your system View and cancel an alarm Send an emergency alarm Bypass sensors View sensor activity View live camera feeds The system is disarmed and is ready to be armed. Tap the Security shield to open the Arm System screen, where you can arm your system and bypass individual sensors. The system is armed. Tap the Security shield to disarm your system. The system is disarmed and is not ready to be armed. Tap the Security shield to open the Arm System screen, where you can see which sensors are preventing your system from being armed, bypass individual sensors and arm the system. The system is counting down the number of seconds before arming becomes active. Tap Cancel to cancel the arming process. A sensor has been triggered while the system is armed, and the entry delay has begun. Enter your keypad code to cancel the alarm process. Use This Status bar or Security app Status bar or Security app Disarm Your System screen, which only displays during an alarm Red emergency button at the bottom of the TouchScreen Controller Security app Security app Security or Camera apps Arm. Touch the Disarmed - Press to Arm button on the Home Screen.. Select Arm Stay to arm the sensors on your doors and windows with only a 60-second exit delay, or Arm Night with no delay. Select Arm Away to arm all sensors, including the motion detectors. 3. Press the Turn Zone Off button for any security zones that you want to bypass. 4. Follow prompt to enter code to Turn Zone Off. 5. Enter your 4-digit security code to arm the system. Note: The TouchScreen generates short, audible alerts while arming, indicating 60 seconds for exit. Audible alerts last for 30 seconds for entry. Disarm. Touch the Armed Away - Press to Disarm button on the Home Screen.. Enter your 4-digit security code to disarm the system. Emergency This button sends an immediate alarm to the central monitoring station, indicating an emergency of a specific type medical, fire or police.. Touch on the bottom of the TouchScreen to display the individual emergency buttons.. Press the applicable button to alert the proper authorities. 3. Note: Enter your 4-digit security code to cancel the alarm. Note: Pressing the police button will activate a silent panic alarm. Pressing the screen a second time will sound an audible alarm. Test your alarm Change your Central Station passcode Settings app > Security category Settings app > Advanced Settings category 3 4
5 TouchScreen Managing DevicesVICES Lights and Appliances Use the Lights app to turn the lights and appliances controlled by your system on or off.. On the Home Screen, tap Lights. The Lights screen shows the status of all of the light switches and Lighting/Appliance/Outlet Controllers in your system. Turn individual lights or appliances on and off by tapping the light bulb icon for the device.. Tap All On to turn on all of your connected lights and appliances; tap All Off to turn them all off. 3. To adjust the brightness of a dimmable light: Tap Settings for the device. On the Lights screen, tap the scale to adjust the brightness level. Once set, this is your default brightness level for this light. Did You know? Only a lightbulb connected to a Home Controller Lighting/Appliance controller or dimmable light switch can be dimmed. Lights connected to an outlet controller or to a regular on/off light switch cannot be dimmed. Thermostats Adjust settings for thermostats installed throughout your home.. Touch the Thermostats app.. Change mode to Off, Cool or Heat. 3. When in Cool or Heat mode, use the arrows to adjust the temperature. TouchScreen Managing DevicesVICES Cameras Use the Cameras app to view live video from the cameras controlled by your system.. On the Home Screen, tap Cameras.. If you have only one camera, live video from that camera appears. If you have multiple cameras, a smaller picture from each camera is displayed. Tap an image to view live video from that camera. Did You Know? Live Video Monitoring (LVM) allows you to create rules for automatically taking pictures and video clips. 4/7 Video Recording automatically creates video clips when your camera detects motion, and allows you to create custom clips from video recorded during the last 0 days. You can access your saved pictures and videos in your Subscriber Portal as well as from the Home Controller app for mobile devices. Door Locks How to connect your Kwikset door lock to your Home Controller system:. Tap Settings. Then tap Home Devices > Door Locks > Add Door Locks.. Place the Kwikset door lock in pairing mode by pressing the A button on the interior assembly four times. Then tap Next. 3. The new Door Lock icon appears when found. Tap Done after it is found. 4. Tap Next. 5. Tap the door lock icon to configure. 6. Enter a new name for the door lock. Tap Next to complete the edit. Then tap Return to Menu. 4. Turn on Hold to maintain the mode and ignore any other programming configured on the Thermostat device. 5 6
6 TouchScreen Settings Settings Displays a list of setting options to customize your TouchScreen. Categories include:. TouchScreen Clean screen, screensaver, sound and button configurations, etc.. Security Manage keypad codes, default arming app configuration, alarm test. 3. Sensors & Zones Change zone order, etc. 4. Home Devices Add, edit and delete devices that control cameras, key fobs and more. 5. Apps Add, remove and reorder apps. 6. Advanced Settings Account information, security secret word, connectivity and TouchScreen reboot features. TouchScreen Settings Changing Sound and Display Settings You can change the following sound and display settings on the TouchScreen Controller: Sounds made when certain events occur and the volume of those sounds. Screen brightness, dimming and nighttime settings. App shown as the screensaver when the TouchScreen Controller is idle. Language used on the TouchScreen Controller. Cleaning the TouchScreen Controller. On the Home Screen, tap Settings.. Enter your Master Keypad Code. 3. On the Categories screen, tap Clean Screen. The display locks for 30 seconds so that you can clean it without activating anything when you touch the screen. 4. When the 30 seconds are up, you can extend the cleaning time if needed. Otherwise, tap Finish. Viewing your Account Information To view your Home Controller account information:. On the Home Screen, tap Settings.. Enter your Master Keypad Code. 3. On the Categories screen, tap Advanced Settings. 4. On the Advanced Settings screen, tap Account Information. 5. When you re finished, tap Return to Menu. 7 8
7 Key Fob Keychain Remote Key Fob Keychain Remote Arm Away To activate the Arm Away mode, press and hold the Arm Away button for at least.5 seconds. Using Your Keychain Remote Your wireless Keychain Remote interacts with your TouchScreen, enabling you to quickly arm and disarm your Home Controller system. The LED flashes red once when the Remote contacts the system, then turns solid red when the Exit Delay begins. The LED flashes amber seven times when the system cannot be armed because, for example, a door or window is open. Arm Stay To activate Arm Stay mode, press and hold Arm Stay for.5 seconds. The LED flashes red once when the Remote contacts the system, then turns solid red when the Exit Delay begins. The LED flashes amber seven times when the system cannot be armed because, for example, a door or window is open. Disarm To disarm the system, press and hold the Disarm button for.5 seconds. The LED flashes green once when the Remote contacts the system, then turns solid green when the system is disarmed. Check System Status To check the current system status, press the Status button for.5 seconds. The LED flashes red once when the Remote contacts the system. Solid green for three seconds indicates the system is disarmed. Solid red for three seconds indicates the system is armed. Solid amber for three seconds indicates the system cannot be armed because, for example, a door or window is open. Panic If you need immediate police assistance press and hold the Panic button for.5 seconds to send an alarm to the Central Monitoring Station. The LED flashes red once when the Remote contacts the system, then flashes seven times. The TouchScreen will emit an audible alarm. 9 0
8 Web Access Introduction Security Access your interactive home security system through your personal, secure webpage. There you can check the status of your home, arm and disarm your system, see live video of your home, view video clips and pictures, change settings and much more from anywhere you have internet access. Signing In You will need to sign in each time you access the website.. Visit support.mediacomcable.com. To arm a disarmed system:. Click the Security Status when it is in the Disarmed state. Or select Security > Arm on the toolbar.. If any security zones have defaulted, preventing the system from being armed, you must click the Turn Zone Off button for that zone before arming the system. 4. On the right hand side, click on Home Controller portal. 3. Select the Arming Mode Enter your username and password. 4. Click Sign In. Arm Away Everyone is leaving the house. Arm Stay There are still people in the premises. Main Tab The Main tab provides a snapshot overview of your entire system. From this page, you can view general status information about your home and security system, and access various tabs to change system settings. 3 4 Arm Night Everyone is going to bed. This mode works the same as Arm Stay except that there is no Entry Delay period. If an entry/exit zone is opened, an alarm sounds immediately. 4. Enter your 4-digit security code Click Arm Now. To disarm the system:. Click the Security Status header when it is in the Armed state. Or select Security > Disarm on the toolbar.. Enter your 4-digit security code, and click Disarm. To manage other security settings, click Security on the toolbar. Managing Keypad Codes: Keypad codes are used to arm or disarm the system. Multiple keypad codes can be assigned to track who enters and leaves the premises. To manage keypad access codes, select Security > Keypad Codes on the toolbar and add a new access code or modify current access codes.
9 Web Access Zone Activity The current state of all security devices connected to your system appears here. Cameras Cameras display live video and enable you to capture pictures or video clips from cameras installed in your home.. Hover over the clock icon next to the sensor name to see the recent history.. Click Manage Zones to edit zone names and to turn zones on or off. Viewing & Capturing Live Video and Snapshots To view live video from the cameras attached to your system and take snapshots or videos, click Security > Cameras on the toolbar. One of the cameras is displayed as live video. The other camera views (not live video) are arrayed over it.. Click an image above the video to view live video from each camera. History View recent security device activity, alarm events and more. 3. To take a snapshot with the currently selected camera, click Take Picture. 3. To take a video clip (about 0 seconds) with the currently selected camera, click Take Video Clip.. Click View History or click the History Tab to view all events or to sort by date and event type. 4. To delete snapshots or video clips, select one or more check boxes, and click the trash can icon. 4 Viewing Captured Pictures and Video Clips 5 To view captured images:. Select History > Saved Pictures and Videos on the toolbar. The displayed screen lists the pictures and video clips captured manually and automatically (during alarm events).. Click on an image to view the captured images. 3. Images that were captured automatically during an alarm have an ALARM button and display the security zone that caused the images to be taken. 4. Images that were captured manually have a camera icon. 5. To delete an image or video, check the box below the captured image or video and click the trash can icon. 3 4
10 Web Access Rules (Alerts, Automations and Schedules) To add a Contact: Rules are flexible methods for generating a variety of system actions (such as sending an alert) whenever something happens under specific circumstances. To manage Rules, click the Rules tab. Select Rules from the drop down menu. Click Add Rule and select which type of rule you would like to configure: Schedule - Actions can be scheduled to occur at specified times, dates or date ranges without regard to an additional event Select Contacts for Rules on Rules tab. This allows you to add people you want to receive system alerts from the rules To set an Event rule:. Select a specific Security Zone that will trigger the action, or select the entire system.. Determine what happens at the Security Zone or the security system to trigger the action. 3. Select the action the rule will take. Depending on the action, you may have additional items to select. Event - Actions can be set to occur in response to a specified event at a security zone, such as a door, window, motion detector or smoke alarm. 4. Determine the time range and days of the week when the rule is applicable. You can select Any Time to have the rule apply whenever the selected event occurs. Non-event - Actions can be set to occur when an expected event does not take place at a security zone. For example, an SMS notification can be sent if your front door does not open between 3:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday when your children are expected home. 5. Select the arming mode that applies to the rule. 6. Describe the rule. 7. Click Save. To set a Non-Event rule: To set a Schedule:. Select a specific security zone to monitor Determine the Start Time for your Schedule. Check the box if you would like to add an End Time. Determine if you want the Schedule to repeat during the set times and then click the applicable days.. Determine the action the rule will take. Depending on the action, you may have additional items to select. 3. Select the arming mode that applies to the rule. 4. Describe the rule. 5. Click Save Determine the event that fails to occur during the specified time range. 3. Determine the time/day range when the rule is applicable. 4. Select the action you want the rule to take if the specified conditions are met. Depending on the action, you may have additional items to select. 5. Select the arming mode that applies to the rule. 6. Describe the rule. 7. Click Save. 5 6
11 Web Access Manage TouchScreen Apps Thermostats The current status of your thermostats are displayed on the Main screen. To manage your thermostats:. On the Main screen, in the Thermostats tool, click View Thermostats. The current temperature appears in the middle of the screen. The Unit of Measure button on the right indicates whether the temperature is displayed in Fahrenheit or Celsius.. Click the Unit of Measure button to toggle the display between Fahrenheit and Celsius. 3. On the top of the screen, you can click Off, Cool or Heat, or set the mode. 4. Turn Fan on or off using the toggle switch. 5. You can click Hold to maintain the mode and temperature settings while ignoring any programming configured on the thermostat device. Lights and Appliances The current status of your light settings is displayed on the main screen. To manage your lights and appliances:. On the Main screen, in the Lights tool, click Manage Lights.. In the Lights tool, you can turn the lights on or off and set the dimming percentage. Deleting TouchScreen Apps. From the Manage Apps screen, hover your cursor over the app you want to delete. A label is displayed over the app.. Click Delete. 3. Click Delete App in the displayed confirmation dialog box. 7 8
12 Mobile Access Introduction The Mediacom Home Controller app allows you to access a core set of security system functions using your Android device, iphone, ipod touch or ipad. The application contains only the essential functionality available through web access. Download the Mediacom Home Controller app from the itunes App Store or Google Play. Then, launch the application. Enter your Home Controller username and password and click Log In. Note: This application requires your mobile device to be connected to the Internet. CONTROL AND SECURE YOUR HOME FROM VIRTUALLY ANYWHERE WITH THE HOME CONTROLLER APP Security Remotely control your security system and view your current Arm/Disarm status. To arm your security system:. On the Home Screen, tap the Disarmed tab.. To bypass any Home Security Zones, tap Skip, then Continue Arm. 3. Tap Stay or Night to arm the sensors on your doors and windows with only a 0-second exit delay. Or select Away to include the motion detectors. 4. Enter your 4-digit security code to arm the system. 5. Once activated, your system arms in a few seconds and indicates the new status. To disarm your security system:. On the Home Screen, tap the Armed tab.. Enter your 4-digit security code to disarm the system. Download the FREE Home Controller app from the itunes App Store or Google Play. 13 Mobile Access Cameras View live video or captured pictures and video clips. To view live video from your cameras:. On the Home Screen, tap Cameras.. From the list, tap the camera you d like to access. Live video will appear from that camera. Thermostats Adjust all thermostats connected to your system.. On the Home Screen, tap Thermostats.. Tap the name of the thermostat you want to control. 3. Tap the mode button to switch from cool to heat, or turn off both functions. 3 To view captured video clips or pictures from your Cameras section:. On the Home Screen, tap Activity at the bottom.. Use the menu at the top of the screen to filter the History: All View images captured manually from the Subscriber Portal or as a result of a Schedule rule configured in the Subscriber Portal. Alarm View images captured as part of an alarm. Arm View images captured as part of an arming event. Zone View images captured as part of a zone event. 3. Tap Pictures/Video to view the captured images and video. 4. Tap + or to change the temperature setting. Lights Adjust all lights connected to your system via plug-in modules.. On the Home Screen, tap Lights.. If the light is on, tap bulb to turn it off. 3. If the light is off, tap bulb to turn it on. 4. If the light includes the dimmer function, you can adjust its brightness by tapping the icon on the right (if applicable). Activity View a log of events that have occurred in the system.. On the Home Screen, tap Activity at the bottom.. Filter your history of recent events based on the following criteria: All All logged events. Alarm Alarm events. Arm Arm/Disarm events. Door Locks Lock/Unlock events. Zone Events related to security zones. Pictures/Video Pictures/Video events.
14 Security Monitoring How to Test Your System Alarm system testing procedures Regularly testing your alarm system ensures proper local operation and communication with the central monitoring station. The following procedure should be done at least once per month.. Call the security monitoring station at to place your account in test mode. You will need your account number and your personal security password.. Arm your system in the stay mode. This will allow you to test your perimeter devices, such as those on your doors and windows. Remember your entry door has a time delay and will not activate the alarm until both the entry and exit delays have expired. It is not necessary to reset the system each time you open a door or window. 3. Arm your system in the away mode. This will allow you to test the interior devices. Open an entry/exit door. 4. If you have any external panic devices, such as a wireless key fob, they can be tested at this time. The central monitoring station provides 4/7 UL-approved monitoring for your residence or business. The following information will provide you an overview of what occurs when the central monitoring station receives an alarm signal: Burglary and Fire. Customer notification The station places two calls in attempts to notify you 5. After all testing is complete, ensure that you reset your alarm system by entering your code or using the off button on your wireless key fob. 6. Call the security monitoring station at and ask if it has received all of your test alarms. If there is any question, retest the affected part of the system again.. Dispatch authorities Panic. Dispatch authorities Silent or audible alarm. Customer list notification Suggested action: Always leave the house immediately if you have any doubt about your safety. 3 4
