Integrated Safety Lifecycle Tool Is it Tie to Upgrade Your Process Safety Tools to exsilentia Version 3? Design, operation and aintenance of Safety Instruented Systes (SIS) just got easier exsilentia Version 3 adds capabilities that will help users achieve a new level of consistency and productivity in the design of their Safety Instruented Systes (SIS). This release enhances the existing suite of tools, including the industry leading tool for Safety Integrity Level (SIL) verification ( ). All-new functionality allows users to follow the entire IEC 61511/ISA 84 functional safety lifecycle for the first tie using a single tool. It also supports copliance with regulations such as OSHA PSM (USA) and Seveso II (Europe). Enhanceents to the Existing exsilentia Suite All New Functionality Page 1 of 8
Follow the entire IEC / ISA 84 functional safety lifecycle using a single tool The use of a single tool for the whole safety lifecycle reduces total cost of ownership and helps ensure SIS applications are not over-designed or under-designed. It iproves traceability while also aking it easier to anage change, assess the ipact of design changes, and audit the overall design as required by industry regulations. exsilentia Version 3 is a odular suite of tools available in four different bundles: Standard Analysis Operations Ultiate This allows users to select the package that best eets their functionality requireents, budget, and addresses their specific engineering tasks. exsilentia Version 3 Options exsilentia V3.0 Packages Safety Lifecycle Phase / Activity exsilentia Module Module Functionality Standard Analysis Operation Ultiate Functional Safety Manageent, Auditing and Assessent IEC/ISA Copliance Docuentation Checklist for Docuenting Copliance with IEC / ISA Standard Safety Lifecycle Structure & Planning N/A Hazard & Risk Assessent (Process Hazard Analysis) PHAx * PHA Iport Record results of Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) / Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) Iport HAZOP results fro 3rd party tools Allocation of Safety Functions to Protection Layers (SIL Target Selection) SILAlar * Safety Integrity Level (SIL) Selection (Risk Graph Hazard Matrix, LOPA) Alar Rationalization per ISA18.2, EEMUA 191 Safety Requireents Specification (SRS) SRS C&E -- Process SRS Basic Safety Instruented Function Safety Requireents Specification Process level Safety Requireents Specification Safety Integrity Level Verification, IEC copliant calculation engine Design and Engineering of SIS (incl. It allows resizing of SIF windows and provides zoo capabilities to accoodate a large variety of screen sizes / resolutions. This is ideal for presentation and review of SIS design results in a conference roo with a group of people. A spreadsheet-like overview is also provided to allow a quick coparison of data between Safety Instruented Functions (SIFs) gaining an overview of the SIS design, and anaging the exsilentia project with ease. Page 2 of 8
Identify and docuent process hazards with a new integrated tool The new PHAX tool guides users through the HAZOP process, facilitating effective identification of hazards, hazardous events, and associated sequence of events, siplifying the task of docuenting the results. Safeguards and recoendations identified as potential SIFs or alars can be recorded in a standard forat. PHAX supports sealess exchange of the PHA data to subsequent tasks in the safety lifecycle (SIL selection) and alar anageent lifecycle (rationalization) via integration with the exsilentia odules such as and SILAlar. This provides traceability and auditability by helping anage changes that ay ipact copliance with corporate risk criteria. The tool helps users eet industry regulations such as the Process Hazard Analysis requireent within OSHA PSM. Docuenting HAZOP results in PHAX If you already have a HAZOP tool, this is not a proble. exsilentia provides the ability to iport HAZOP results fro 3rd party tools (e.g., PHAWorks and PHA-Pro) allowing the data to be used for subsequent SIS design tasks such as SIL selection or alar rationalization. Mix and atch tolerable risk criteria during SIL Selection The exsilentia tool now includes the ability to ake use of different tolerable risk calibrations on a single project. It is now possible, for exaple, to use a ixture of risk graph, hazard atrix, and frequency based target (LOPA) approaches within one project. Also, allows a user to create their own risk graph or frequency-based targets, thus incorporating the functionality of the SILClass product. Using the Risk Graph Calibration wizard for SIL Selection Page 3 of 8
Enhanced SIL verification With exsilentia Version 3, the industry leading tool for SIL Verification () becae even better by adding capabilities requested by our users. The test interval of application level diagnostics like Partial Stroke Testing can now be specified. This helps address situations where partial stroke testing is not perfored 10X ore frequently than the proof test. can now also account for SIF dead tie, which is iportant in situations where the SIF is copletely bypassed during noral operation to execute a proof test. The ability to specify MooN (M-out-of-N) configurations during occasions when a standard architecture does not apply is another new feature of this product. Accoodating proof test deadtie in SIL Verification calculations Maxiize the risk reduction of the operator and alar syste protection layer through alar rationalization Available with exsilentia Ultiate, the SILAlar tool guides users through the alar rationalization process ensuring that every alar is justified, properly prioritized, and has a defined operator response as required by ISA-18.2 and EEMUA 191. Alar rationalization can eliinate alar overload, reduce the effect of alar floods, eliinate nuisance alars, and ensure that the operator has sufficient tie to respond (all of which helps achieve the expected level of risk reduction for this type of IPL). SILAlar allows HAZOP and LOPA results to be cross-referenced during the alar rationalization process ensuring that safety-critical alars are treated appropriately. Cross Reference Potential Consequences Corrective Action Docuenting operator response and creating HAZOP & LOPA cross references in SILAlar Page 4 of 8
Critical Device List provides increased visibility into IPLs Have you ever wondered if a particular relief valve was considered an Independent Protection Layer (IPL) soewhere in the SIL selection activity? This new feature generates a list of all devices defined in a project and cross references all IPLs where they are used, even non SIS risk-reduction easures. Built-in viewer for failure database siplifies gathering / coparing failure rate data exsilentia includes the world s ost extensive reliability database of instruentation and control equipent for use in Safety Instruented Systes, the Safety Equipent Reliability Handbook (SERH). Reliability data for over 1700 sensors, logic solvers, interface odules, and final eleents can be referenced directly during SIL verification, eliinating the tie-consuing task of gathering reliability data. This data can also be accessed through the SERH viewer, which allows users to copare reliability data by product, anufacturer, or type of assessent. The database is continuously updated as new products are introduced and assessed. Coon uses of the SERH include: Source of equipent reliability data for calculating the SIL of a safety instruented function (sensor logic solver final control eleent). A database that can be used to standardize reliability evaluations across a copany A tool for evaluating suppliers and equipent to create a preferred vendor list for SIS applications Critical Device List As a reference during SIL selection to estiate typical PFDs for coon types of equipent (e.g., valves). Viewing device failure rate data fro the SERH database Page 5 of 8
Docuent copliance with the IEC / ISA 84 standard A checklist for evaluating/deonstrating that your SIS design, operation, and aintenance activities coply with the IEC / ISA 84 standard is another addition. A coprehensive copliance atrix can be generated autoatically by exsilentia, with copliance arguents pre-entered for the requireents that are addressed based on usage of the tool. The reaining copliance arguents can be copleted by the user. The resultant docuent can be used to deonstrate to an auditor, assessor, or regulator how the requireents of the standard have been fulfilled. It can also be used as part of operating plant hazard reviews. Making upgrades cost effective and easy The odular design of exsilentia Version 3 supports an easy and cost-effective upgrade path fro version 2 based on your current level of functionality and the functionality desired. Project files created in earlier versions of exsilentia can be autoatically converted for use in the new version, ensuring no loss in productivity. exsilentia Version 2 exsilentia Version 3 Ultiate SILAlar SRS C&E Process & Design Functionality Standard Analysis Operations Lifecycle $ Estiator Proof Test Lifecycle $ Estiator Proof Test Basic (Version 2) Copliance Docuenter Copliance Docuenter Copliance Docuenter Copliance Docuenter SERH Viewer SERH Viewer SERH Viewer SERH Viewer 40% of Standard Upgrade Cost 40% of Standard 40% of Standard + Cost (Standard -> Analysis) + Cost (Standard -> Operation) 40% of Standard + Cost (Standard -> Ultiate) Upgrade paths fro exsilentia Version 2 to Version 3 Page 6 of 8
