Requirements for Software Minimum Requirements: Pentium II 333MHz (Min) 64Mb RAM 4 GB Hard drive. 1 Serial Port 1 x CD-ROM 2 Mb VGA card and Colour Monitor (1024 x 768) 1 x Standard Mouse. 1 x Standard Keyboard. Recommended Requirements: Pentium IV 512Mb RAM 10 GB Hard drive. 2 Serial Ports for Base Station and GSM modem (16550 COMPATIBLE) Windows Compatible sound Card and Speakers. 1 x CD-ROM and Network for Backups OR CD Writer OR Zip drive. 1 Printer Port. 2 Mb VGA card and Colour Monitor (1024 x 768) 1 x Standard Mouse. 1 x Standard Keyboard.

4 2.Installation Instructions Prerequisites Operating System Windows 95 /98, Windows NT 4.0 or higher, Windows 2000 with Network services. Installation: Insert the CD into the CD ROM drive Open My Computer and double click on the CD Drive Sybase: Open the Sybase folder and double click on the setup.exe file Click Next and then select your country or region (Europe, Middle East, and Africa - General) Accept the terms of the agreement and click next Leave the registration key field blank and click next twice, click ok on the error box Click next until you get to the Select Components box Untick the Synchronization and Messaging box and click next Enter your name and Company and click next Continue clicking next until the program installs Wait for the installation to complete Untick the 2 option boxes and click next Continue clickng next until you get to the Confirm Launch of External Install window Click skip and then skip again The installation is now complete and you may now view the readme file if you wish You will then be prompted to restart your PC which you must do. Crystal Report: In the My Computer window, open the Crystal folder Double click on the CRYSTLAL.exe file Click Unzip Wait for the installation to complete and click Close Crystal Reports is now installed : In the My Computer window, open the folder Double click on the SETUP.exe file Click next Click yes Click next will now install Once it is complete click finish is now installed

5 3.How to Register Your Software. To register your software you have to do the following: If the Icon is not on the Desktop click on the: Start Menu. Click on Run. Type in C:\Program Files\MAMI\\RFIX.exe The MAMI RFIX screen should appear. (Figure 1) Figure 1 Contact the Software Vendor at: (011) Give the Software Serial Number and the System Radio Serial Number to the Software Vendor. The Software Vendor will give you a code that you must type into the Licensing code and click on Update.

9 7.Unlocking Code The unlocking code option is used when a customer has a DEMO version of or he wants to upgrade his total number of customers. The user contacts the system vendor and gives him the following: System Serial Number System Radio Number Total customers The Software vendor will supply the License code. Type the code in the New License Code box and click OK. Note that it is preferred for the user to use the external licensing program Rfix to update license codes. Refer to the installation instructions for more information on this. 8.Printer Setup When ever the user wants to print a report, prints to the default printer on the system. The printer can be changed using the Printer Setup utility. Click on the File option on the Task Bar Select Printer Setup Choose the printer that you wish to use to print your reports Click OK to set the chosen Printer to default 9.Exit the System To exit, the user must be logged in as the administrator. To exit, do the following: Click on the File menu option on the Task Bar Select Exit Type in the Administrator s User ID and Password Click on OK

10 10.Alarm Signal Summary: The Alarm Signal Summary gives the user the option of viewing the following: Summary Number The summary number is the number that gives to each signal that comes through Action When a new alarm comes through, NEW is displayed and a red icon appears. As soon as the alarm has been acknowledged, ACKED together with a yellow icon appear. Once the alarm has been responded to and closed, COMPLETE together with a green icon appear. Date Time This is the date and time that the new alarm came through. Signal Code The code of the specific signal or alarm is displayed Reason for the Alarm This section gives a short reason why the alarm was triggered Summary Number Date Action Signal Code Reason Figure 4 All new alarms will appear next to a red icon. If the alarm has been acknowledged the icon will turn yellow and when the signal has been completed the icon turns green. Supervisory signals will appear next to a blue icon.

11 11.Special Keys In there are 3 special function keys. The keys and their functions are discussed below. 1. New Alarm When this combination is pressed, the cursor goes to the next new alarm that has not yet been acknowledged. 2. Acknowledged Alarm When these keys are pressed, the cursor goes to the next Acknowledged Alarm that requires a response 3. Floor Plan When these keys are pressed, the user can switch between floor plan drawings. The following are keys that the operators can use when a mouse is not present: Press ALT on the keyboard to access the Task Bar menus Press TAB to switch between the buttons on the screen layout Press F2 to acknowledge a new alarm o Type in the Operators password and press enter. Press F5 to respond to an alarm o Choose 1 0 on the keyboard for the different responses o Press enter o Press space bar to tick Is this response complete? o Type in the master password and press enter

12 12.Alarm Description When a new alarm is received, the description of the alarm will appear in the Alarm Description text box with the Date and Time when the alarm was received. Note that the Acknowledge Time and Date is blank until the user acknowledges the alarm. The Response text box will also be blank until the user responds to the alarm. It will also show the user who responded to the alarm. The following information about the new alarm will appear on the screen Account Number Subscriber Code Customer Name Installer of the Alarm Telephone Number Key Holders Address The Zone Description Communication Port Display Figure 5

13 13.Cell Phone Status This will display the status of the Short Message Service. This screen will be activated as soon as a modem is connected to the system. When an SMS has been sent, the following will be displayed: The date and time the message was sent The recipient's telephone number If the message was successful or not. Figure 6 14.Alarm History The Alarm History Screen displays the last 48 hour's signals of a specific customer. When the user clicks on a customer's alarm in the Alarm Signal Summary, the history of the customer is displayed in the Alarm History Screen. The Alarm History Screen displays the following information: Summary Number Date and Time Customer Code Reason For Alarm Figure 7

14 15.Function Keys The Function Keys are there to make multitasking easier for the user. The F2 key is used to acknowledge a new alarm. When the button is pressed, an Acknowledge Operator Password is required. The operator logged in must supply his/her password and acknowledge the alarm The F3 key is used when the user wants to search for a specific alarm of alarms. The user can search the database with the following criteria Alarm ID Alarm Status Alarm Date and Time Alarm String Alarm Description The F4 key is used when the operator wants to see if there are any special instructions that the customer asked for if an alarm is triggered. These special instructions can be set up in the database The F5 key is used to respond to the alarm signals in the queue. The operator can choose which response he wants to use for the alarm The F6 key is used to see how many and which alarms are outstanding The F7 key is used when the operator wants to send a message to a specific pager of either a client or a response vehicle

15 The F8 key is used to add a security code to the customer number. The F9 key is used to send an SMS via the software and a modem to the customer. 16.Floor Plan The floor plan can be any 16 colour bitmap (.bmp) file. The bitmap can be scanned in or it can be drawn in any draw application. Microsoft Paint, Corel Draw etc. For larger properties, google earth pictures can be used to plot zones. To draw a floor plan Click on Database on the Task Bar Click on the customer that you want to insert the Floor Plan Click on edit Go to the ZONES tab in the customer properties screen To insert the bitmap for the Floor Plan, click on the following icon: The following screen will appear (figure 8): Figure 8 Select the bitmap for the Floor Plan and click on open The selected bitmap is now elected for the Floor Plan

16 Modify: To draw the zones on the bitmap click on the DRAW icon: The Draw Zones in Floor Plan screen will appear (Figure 9) Hold in the Crl key and click on the area that you wish to mark the zone To delete a marked area, move the cursor to the mark you wish to remove and wait for the hand cursor to change then press the shift key. Click on close when you are done Display: When a new alarm is received and the customer hasa Floor Plan, the zone where the alarm was triggered will be displayed in red. All other zones that are still normal will be in yellow.

17 17.Configuration On entering the Configuration, the Setup Wizard will appear: Communication In the communications screen, the operator can set up the different communication ports where different devices can be connected. For instance, the base station on comm. Port 1 and the modem on comm. Port 2 The administrator can choose between 4 communication protocols o The MAMI Sniper o Cell Phone o The FSK Base Station o The RDC Base Station o The MAMI Smart base When a MAMI Sniper and a Smart Base is connected to the system, the serial number of the base station must be entered. The serial number of the base station can be found on a sticker at the back of the base station When a GSM Modem is connected, select the comm. type cell and type in the sms centre number Click GO to activate the comm. port Figure 10

18 Output: If a dead man interface is connected to the system, select the port where the interface is connected If you have a pager system installed you can select the Pager Card Address The sound files that plays each time a new alarm comes through can also be selected. Figure 11

19 System: The operator can choose to enable or disable repeated signals. When the operator disables the repeated signals, only one alarm will show when the same alarm comes through repeatedly. When the operator wants to hear no sound when the alarm comes through, he can disable the speaker for silent alarms Figure 12

20 Responses: The operator can customize the general responses to suit individual requirements Type the required responses and click OK to finish Figure 13

21 18.Database On entering the Database, the following screen will appear: Figure 14 The Customer screen will give the operator the following information for each customer: Account Account number of the customer Name Name of the customer Classification The classification of t5he customer (Refer to section 2.1.1) Status Advise the operator if the customer is armed or disarmed Tel The telephone number of the customer Enabled To see if the customer is enabled or disabled by the administrator GRS - A summary of the GRS status where applicable Only operators with administrative rights may edit the database

22 19.Adding a New Customer: Note! Only an administrator may add a new customer to the database. Step 1 Click on the Database menu in the Task Bar In the Customers screen click on Add On the Identification screen type in the following (Refer to figure 15) o Customer account number o The Customer's Name o The Subscriber Code (Transmitter number) MUST BE 4 DIGITS o Customer classification o Security Code Figure 15

23 Step2 In the General screen type in the following:: o The radio prefix (for radio trunking only) o The name of the installer o The customer's telephone number o The customer's address o Any special information that the customer wants the operator to know o The reminder period in minutes Click Next to go to the next step Figure 16

24 Step3 In the key holders and other general screen select the following: o The administrator can choose to receive 'failed to open' or 'failed to close'. Tick the box to enable this option o The administrator can choose to receive and alarm on all disarm signals o Select which zone is the: Arm zone Panic zone Tamper zone You can then type in the Name and Telephone numbers of up to three key holders Click on next to go to the next step Figure 17

25 Step4 In the Time Windows screen, the administrator can select: o The Open and Closing times for the customer o The tolerance for the opening and closing times, set in minutes o The check in interval for the customer, set in hours Figure 18 NOTE: If you want to disable a day of the week just set the open and closing time to 00:00. You can not set the opening and closing time for every day of the week to 00:00

26 Step5 In the Zones screen the administrator can give each zone a description. Each zone can have its own floor plan (Refer to section 16) You can select to be reminded of restored signals by ticking the 'Remind?' box on the right hand side of each zone Figure 19

27 Step6 In the Zone Action Messages screen, each zone can have an action message that would tell the operator exactly what to do when that specific zone is triggered The message will appear in the Alarm description. The Zone action can be Normal, supervisory or disabled Figure 20

28 Step7 If the customer's protocol type was selected as NON-MAMI, the Non MAMI screen will be open to edit Each zone/event alarm codes must be filled in Figure 21

29 Step8 In the Notifications screen the administrator can type in the cell phone number of the person who will be receiving notification of an alarm activation You can also select when to send the notification Note that this is only applicable if you have a GSM modem connected to the system Figure 22

30 20.Users On entering the Users option, the following will appear: Figure 23 Different users can log on and off. Each user has a unique ID, a password, description and type. To edit or create a user you must have administrative rights To add a user you need to do the following: Click on Add Type in the user ID Type in the User Name and Surname Select the user type o Administrator o Supervisor o Guest Click the master box Type the user password and confirm the password Type the user's cell phone number

32 1. Signal Report This report is used for viewing signals reported by the selected customer between the start and end dates/times. 2. Audit Trail Report This Report shows Audit records for all or a selected users between a given date and time. 3. Arm/Disarm History Report This report is used for viewing Arm and Disarm events for the selected customer between a given date and time 4. Customer Status Report This report shows the status of those customers shown in the report. The report can be produced for all classifications or only selected classifications 5. Disabled Customer Report This report shows a list of all the disabled customers on the database 6. Disabled Zones Report This report is used for viewing normal, disabled and supervisory zones for selected customers 7. Responses Report This report details responses to alarms for a selected customer between the selected date and time 8. Outgoing Calls Report This is a report for viewing outgoing SMS messages to customers as a result of Alarms. 9. Customer List Report This report shows a list of all the customers with their information 10. Last Contact Report This reports shows the details of the last signal to be received 11. User List Report This report is for viewing the different User with their contacting details 12. Pager Message Report This report shows the pager messages transmitted between the selected date and time

34 22.SMS offers the user of the software a Short Message Service. To make use of this service the operator can click on the SMS icon or press F9. The following screen will appear Figure 25 Before sending an SMS please make sure that the SMS centre number is correct and that the GSM modem is on and plugged in to the correct Comm Port (Refer to section 3) The following is a list of some centre numbers: Vodacom MTN When sending an SMS, the operator can only send an SMS to another user. To send an SMS, choose the user you wish to send the message to, type in the message (max 120 characters) and press send

35 23.The Pager To set software to work with the pager system you will need the basic equipment (Note that the pager system only works in windows 95/98) 1. Pager Card The pager card is a card that plugs into your computer so that there is communication between you computer and the radio 2. Pager Radio 3. Pagers The pager radio is a Motorola Radio that is used to send the messages to the pager The most important equipment are the pagers themselves. Each pager has a unique pager ID code Follow the easy steps to install and configure the pager system to work with : Install the pager card on your computer by plugging the card into one of the available ISA slots on you motherboard Run and open configuration In the output tab, select the address on which your pager card is working A little pager icon will appear on the main screen of The pager card is now set up to work with To add pagers to your system so that can send messages to them, follow these steps: Click on the database tab on the task bar Select the pagers option The following screen will appear:

36 Step1 Click on the Add Button and a set up wizard will appear where you will need to enter the following information: Type in the Pager ID. This ID can be anything you would like it to be Type in the Pager Code. This is the unique code that is supplied with the pager to identify itself. You can usually find this number on the back of the pager The description of the person that is going to be using the pager Figure 26

39 24.The MAP The map service is a sufficient way to see where all your customers are situated. Figure 29 When adding a new customer, the administrator can type in the location of the customer by typing in the latitude and longitude in decimal degrees. These coordinates can be found by pressing F11.

45 Signals Related to guard Monitoring Units Identification: Set as user 34 (User 35 Automatic see Auto arm) Abbreviated as GRS (Guard Route Monitoring) This section should be read in accordance with section on USERS Type of signals that can be expected: 1. Panic per point (16 expandable to 32) eg: PANIC POINT NO 1 (USER 1 PA NIC) 2. Visit to a point eg: C0 VISIT POINT NO 1 3. System enable (GRS - ON) eg: GRS ARMED [ON] (ARM USER 34) 4. System disable (GRS - OFF) eg: GRS DISARMED [OFF] (DISARM USER 34) 5. Starting a patrol sequence eg: AAAAAAAA C0 STRT PATROL [OFF] (GRS USER 0) 6. Fail Patrol eg: C0 PATROL FAIL (GRS USER 35) 7. Patrol Completed successfully eg: C0 PATROL COMPLETED (GRS USER 34) USER NUMBER: To indicate which user sends information such as ARM/DISARM the n'th Zone is reduced by '4'. eg: 1. ' AAAAAA 40' is the same as ' A6AAAA 40' with the added information in the latter that it was sent by USER 4. The 6 in Zone 4 means that the operation (ARMIMG) was performed by user four and if 4 is added to that zone an "A" is obtained which means that that Zone was active(see Alarm codes) 2. If the information was sent by USER 1 the same signal will be send as ' AAAAAA 40'. Note the position of the '5' or '6' to determine the user number. The '5' is still classified as a '9' (Non-active) and the '6' as a 'A' (Active), thus no other information is lost when user information. 3. In the same way up to 35 users can be obtained if these zone locations are added together. At least one zone must contain either a '9' or 'A' to conform to new signal format. 4. User 35 is the unit user number and thus will an Auto-arm be signaled as an arm by User 35.
