2 Outline Scope of Residential Compliance Key definitions When Title 24 compliance is required Spaces Structure for code Solutions for Title compliance 2
3 Scope of Residential Compliance Single Family Home Multi-Family Home High-Rise Home Dormitory Senior Living Quarters Hotel / Motel / Guest Rooms Title 24 Occupancy Types include R-1, R-2, R-3, and R-4. CEC is clarifying the full scope that touches upon the living spaces, dwellings, of these types. With additional requirements 3
4 Key definitions Certified to Title 20 Appliance Database (T20) Repository of products manufactures report meet the requirements of the appliance codes For residential, includes self-contained lighting controls and LED luminaires Occupancy Group Classification of that defines the compliance types of a space Residential Compliance only applies to a portion of Group R and Group U (Group U, when located on Single Family lot) Location of circuit Critical to know how the lighting products are switched Control switch/circuit in a space will determine the compliance requirements Example: When a dining room switched from the kitchen, code requires the dining room lighting meet the kitchen code requirements. Used in Resident Compliance ONLY Lighting products reported by manufacturers meeting the code requirements Requirements and reporting vary by technology type (i.e.: LED luminaires T20, CFL luminaires using T20 CFL ballasts) Used in Residential Compliance ONLY Lighting products that are NOT reported by manufactures meeting high efficacy code requirements Self-contained Lighting Controls Control module that requires no additional component to be fully functional Must be certified to Title 20 Appliance Database to be sold in California for California use 4
