2 P o w e r P a c k s B Power and Auxiliary Relay Packs Fully selfcontained transformer and relay Snaps in for easy installation Plenum rated Essential component for ceiling mounted occupancy sensor Overview Power packs provide 24VDC operating voltage to all Watt Stopper 24VDC occupancy sensors and LightSaver controllers. Auxiliary relay packs are similar to power packs but have no transformer power supply, only an isolated relay. Power packs consist of a transformer and highcurrent relay combined in one small, powerful package. The transformer has a primary high voltage input and a secondary, low voltage output (24 VDC,115 ma, 114 ma with relay connected). The secondary voltage provides operating power to Watt Stopper sensors. When the occupancy sensors detect motion or light sensors detect inadequate ambient light, they electrically close an internal circuit which sends 24 VDC back to the power or auxiliary relay packs that control the lighting system. Plenum rated Power packs are UL 2043 plenum rated with teflon coated low voltage leads and plenum rated plastic. This means that they do not need to be installed in the junction box, but can be installed in the plenum. Power and auxiliary relay packs are housed in ABS, ULrated 94V0 plastic enclosures. Applications The Watt Stopper s power and auxiliary relay packs are designed to be flexible enough to control almost any lighting or HVAC load. For example, power packs can control lighting circuits, selfcontained air conditioners, pumps, fans, motors, VAV systems, motorized damper controls and setback thermostats. They are excellent for any application which requires high voltage switching through low voltage controls. By linking power packs and sensors, an almost unlimited number of configurations can be obtained. 4 P o w e r P a c k s Special Power Packs & Supplies Overview AT Power Supply The Watt Stopper has several power packs and power supplies that fill the needs of a variety of special applications. These products can help to make a lighting control installation more cost efficient and flexible. AT Power Supplies The AT120 and AT277 power supplies provide up to 800 ma of 24 VDC to Watt Stopper occupancy sensors and control products. The units are designed for applications where many sensors are being used. They contain a transformer and no relay. Watt Stopper power and/or auxiliary packs are needed to do the switching. The AT120 and AT 277 are useful in large, open office applications and in large warehouses. Users can implement exterior and/or interior control with one or more automation modules. The basic relay panel consists of a tub and cover, power supply, and panel interior with relays. Users can select the number of relays needed (in multiples of four). The tub, cover, and power supply provide the basic housing and power components. The panel interior provides the mounting framework for the system s relays, power supply, and the optional automation modules. Users can select the panel configuration with up to 12, 24, or 48 relays, depending on the size and complexity of their application. Each lighting load is wired through a relay, which can be controlled by either a lowvoltage switch or an occupancy sensor. Users may select optional automation modules for additional functionality. The Basic Indoor Controller (HBIC12BC) offers Master ON/OFF control for a group of 12 relays, as well as options for selectable time delays, blink warnings for individual overrides, and automatic ON for the whole group. At the same time, it retains individual switch overrides for each relay. The Indoor Controller utilizes an occupied/unoccupied (regular business hours/after hours) approach, and accepts scheduling input from timeclocks and building management systems. For outdoor lighting, the Basic Outdoor Controller provides simple, photocellbased control for security, parking, and signage lighting. The Controller package includes an exterior photosensor that detects natural light levels that, in turn, trigger ON or OFF control signals. Other optional components include the Basic Switch Interface, which enables any 2 or 3wire maintained or momentary input to control a group of relays (up to 12) while retaining individual switch overrides. The Basic relay panel provides a flexible way to achieve essential interior and exterior automated lighting control, and provide the conveniences of low voltage switching.

The DT200 turns lighting on when both PIR a n d ultrasonic technologies detect occupancy. It can also work with a low voltage switch for manualon operation. PIR technology senses the difference between infrared energy from a human body in motion and the background space. Ultrasonic technology uses the Doppler Principle and high frequency (40 khz) ultrasound to sense motion within the space. Once lighting is on, detection by either technology holds lighting on. When no occupancy is detected for the length of the time delay, lighting turns off. The DT can also be set so that only one technology is needed to trigger lighting on or both technologies are needed to hold lighting on. The sensors are low voltage and utilize a Watt Stopper power pack. SmartSet Using SmartSet technology, the DT200 sensors require no adjustment at installation. SmartSet monitors the controlled space to identify usage patterns. Using this information, it automatically adjusts the time delay and sensitivity for optimal performance and energy efficiency. The sensor assigns short delays (as low as 5 minutes) for times when the space is usually vacant, and longer delays (up to 30 minutes) for busier times. Applications The Watt Stopper dual technology sensors have the flexibility to work in a variety of applications. Mounted at 10 feet, the sensors can cover up to 2000 square feet of walking motion and 1000 square feet of desktop motion. The sensors are designed to control lighting in difficult applications, such as classrooms, where one technology alone could encounter false triggers. The LS301 mounts on a ceiling and utilizes a spectral filtering system to measure daylight and electric light levels. A closed loop daylighting system, the LS301 measures the total light level from daylight and electric light in the controlled area to adjust electric lighting levels. As the daylight contribution increases, the lights dim down. The photosensor utilizes sliding setpoint control, which responds to the different spatial distribution qualities of electric light and daylight. The LS301 calculates the required light level for current daylight contribution based on two setpoints. One represents the target level when no daylight is present (night setpoint) and the other when significant daylight is present (day setpoint). Adjustment via Handheld Remote Control All LS301 adjustments are made with one of two handheld remotes. The LSR301S provides five buttons for initial setup, which is easily completed by first raising or lowering electric light levels to desired levels, then programming this target level into the photosensor. The LSR301P provides three buttons for occupants to adjust light levels. With this optional tool, users can increase target light levels by up to 25% or reduce them to the lamp/ballast minimum level. Pressing the Auto button returns the control to programmed levels. Applications The LS301 is designed to blend into its surroundings when installed in any environment. It provides one zone of daylighting control in a private office or classroom. In these applications, the LS301 can be combined with an occupancy sensor. Often, it is possible for the LS301 to share a single power pack with occupancy sensor(s). It is an open loop controller providing up to three zones of control from a single photocell. It also integrates with occupancy sensors and accommodates individual occupant overrides via an optional wall switch. The LCD controller is part of a system that includes the LS290C photocell and the BT203 Power Pack. Each of the LCD controller s three channels has a 010 VDC output and connects to its own dedicated relay in the power pack. The photocell measures daylight and transmits the data to the controller. Each channel in the controller raises or lowers light levels, while the respective relays in the power pack switch lighting on or off. When daylight is adequate for a channel to fully dim, lights switch off after an adjustable time delay. This capability can be disabled for zones where lighting should remain on. Multiple Channel Control To achieve balanced dimming control, users group fixtures receiving comparable daylight levels into up to three control groups or zones. Zones closest to the daylight source are dimmed the most, while zones further away from the daylight source dim less. Unused channels may be disabled. Applications The LCD controller is suitable for a wide range of applications, such as open office areas, classrooms, retail stores, and any application with skylights. It is particularly suitable for applications that require independently dimming fixtures in adjoining zones. The load shedding capability can further reduce light levels during critical periods or during periods of reduced occupancy. If an occupancy sensor is used, its nonoccupancy signal initiates dimming by the LCD controller prior to turning lighting off. It provides manual dimming when used with LCD203 controllers or ON/OFF switching when used with LCO203 or LCD203 controllers. The LS4C has four buttons and two LED indicators. One LED indicates the lights are being manually overridden and the other that they are dimming automatically. Pressing the I/O button puts the controller into manual mode and switches the lights on or off. Pressing and holding the up or down button increases or decreases light level. All three channels are dimmed or switched in unison. The Auto button switches the controller into automatic operation. It works with Watt Stopper power packs and lighting control panels (Lighting Integrator and LP series panels) by signalling a change in light levels to the panel. Typically mounted so the light level window faces the northern sky, the EM photocell provides an ON signal when the ambient light level drops below a preset dark setpoint. It then provides a signal OFF as the ambient light level rises above the preset light setpoint. The setpoint can be changed for specific applications by opening and closing the photocell s aperture window. Normally, a lighting control panel or a power pack supplies power to the photocell. The system provides linevoltage control for interior and exterior lighting. Modular in design, a Basic Control contactor panel consists of a tub, cover, and panel interior that contains the contactors and system clock. The contactors respond to control signals from the system clock to make and break power to lighting circuits, turning lights on and off. Using fourpole contactors, the Basic Control panel controls both single and multiphase lighting loads. The system clock provides both scheduled and astronomic signals. Users may control up to eight separate groups of lighting, defining the parameters of each control channel independently. Basic Control panels utilize normally closed contactors so the system reliably provides power to lighting. Accompanying each of the Basic Control s eight control channels are LED indicators and ON/OFF/Auto switches. The latter enable users to remove a channel from the system s automatic operation and place it in a manual mode. When used with a System Clock, these panels also feature eight individual override inputs, which can be used to connect external devices, such as photocells, occupancy sensors, switches, or other building control systems, to the panel. Administrators can configure these inputs to control any combination of channels. The panel also provides an auxiliary power source (24 VAC and VDC) for external devices. For expandability, the panel includes eight terminals that can be used to connect additional panels (in a multiple panel system, the main panel must include a System Clock while expansion panels do not). For exterior lighting control, users can utilize the System Clock for astronomic control or add the optional photocell for photosensitive control. For interior lighting control, users can implement optional AS110 Automatic Control Switches. These switches automate after hours shut off of lighting for basic code compliance while providing occupants with manual override control to keep needed lighting on. The Basic Control system offers users simple, effective control for indoor and outdoor applications. Because the panel interiors are preassembled, design and installation are greatly simplified. Basic Control contactor panels are ideal choices for any type of exterior lighting, such as parking lot lighting, site night lighting, sign lighting, and more. Their use promotes energy savings by turning off outside lighting when not necessary, as well as providing a secure illuminated environment when occupants might be present. For interior lighting, Basic Control panels provide effective shut off control with the builtin flexibility afforded by the optional AS110 switch. Companies can save energy by automating after hours shutoff control while occupants can override this control locally to meet individual needs.
