1 National Fire Protection Association 1 Batterymarch Park, Quincy, MA Phone: Fax: M E M O R A N D U M (AMENDMENT) TO: FROM: Technical Committee on Mercantile and Business Occupancies Kelly Carey, Project Administrator DATE: June 13, 2014 SUBJECT: Proposed 2015 Edition of NFPA 101, Letter Ballot on Amendment At the NFPA Technical Meeting (Tech Session), held June 12, 2014, NFPA 101 was amended by the acceptance of the following: Amendment 101-6: Accept Public Comments No. 8 and No. 9. Based on the actions of the membership at the NFPA Technical Meeting (Tech Session), this Amendment is being submitted for ballot of the Technical Committee pursuant to section 4.6 and Table 1 of the Regulations Governing the Development of NFPA Standards (Regs). If the Amendment passes ballot, the recommendation to the Standards Council will be to incorporate the Public Comment text into the next edition of the Standard. If the Amendment fails ballot, the recommendation to the Standards Council will be to return to previous edition text. Where there exists no previous edition text and an Amendment fails ballot, the recommendation to the Standards Council will be to delete the text. Please review this item, complete the attached ballot, and return it to NFPA as soon as possible, but no later than June 25, If you Disagree or Abstain on an Amendment please indicate your reason(s) for doing so. NOTE: The impact of voting Agree on an Amendment is shown legislatively based on clean Second Draft text. The effect of voting Disagree on an Amendment is illustrated by showing the applicable previous edition text, or where no previous edition text exists, stating the text will be deleted. In the event the text is too large to display, a descriptor and/or cross-reference to the applicable text will be provided. All applicable text will be attached to the ballot. The transcripts from the Annual 2014 NFPA Technical Meeting (Tech Session) will be available within two weeks after the Tech Session at: Note: Please remember that the return of ballots is required in accordance with Section of the Regulations Governing the Development of NFPA Standards.

Kiosks and similar structures (temporary or permanent) shall not be considered tenant spaces and shall meet all of the following requirements: (a) Fire-retardant-treated wood complying with the requirements for fire retardant-impregnated wood in NFPA with NFPA 289, Standard Method of Fire Test for Individual Fuel Packages, using the 20 kw ignition source (e) Textiles and films meeting the flame propagation performance criteria contained in Tests Method 1 or Test Method 2, as appropriate, of NFPA 701, Standard Methods of Fire Tests for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films. (4) Each kiosk, or group of kiosks, or similar structure shall have a maximum area of 300 ft t 2 (27.8 m 2 ) Kiosks. Kiosks and similar structures (temporary or permanent) shall not be considered as tenant spaces and shall meet all of the following requirements: (a) Fire-retardant-treated wood complying with the requirements for fire retardant-impregnated wood in NFPA with NFPA 289, Standard Method of Fire Test for Individual Fuel Packages, using the 20 kw ignition source.
