Carbon monoxide household alarm
Carbon Monoxide household alarm Electrochemical sensor with high resolution. Easy installation and use. Maintenance free. Historical alarm status indicator. COHb programming. Electronic self diagnostics. 6 year guarantee. Certified according to the standard EN50291:2001 Made in EU.
What is CO? CO is an invisible, odourless, insipid and extremely toxic gas produced by gas vehicles, gas burners, petrol, coal, paraffin, wood, etc. It is responsible for most domestic deaths from poisoning. The causes of high CO concentrations can be: Inadequate maintenance of gas burners and fossil fuels. Combustion devices bad or wrongly installed. Blocked or cracked flues. Grilles or vents obstructed or sealed. Switched on lawnmowers, car engines, etc, in closed areas. Portable gas or paraffin heaters. Barbecues in closed areas. CO EMISSION SOURCES
CO effects in human beings Haemoglobin, which h carries oxygen throughh our organism, is combined with CO 240 times more rapidly than oxygen, which can cause death. CO is cumulative: its effects can be equally dangerous when being exposed at low concentrations for a certain period of time than when inhaling a big quantity of gas in a few minutes. Its effects vary depending on corporal mass and health, being kids specially vulnerable.
Specific alarm for carbon monoxide Powerful sound alarm (85db) with soft tone test Big electrochemical sensor for higher sensitivity and reliability Certified according to the European Norm 50291:2001 EASY FUNCTIONNING A single button for all functions First company to manufacture CO detectors in Spain VISUAL INFORMATION: state, t alarm, breakdown, historical alarm status, etc.
Electrochemical sensor Characteristics Exclusively calibrated for CO measuring, latest technology and big-sized, ensuring higher sensitivity and reliability. Easy installation You only need to press a button for it to start working. Hermetic closing from the CO alarm to the base, in order to avoid manipulations from non authorized personnel. Guaranteed for its 6 year useful life COHb programming Alarm is activated when a certain CO concentration exists for a period of time. Powerful optical and sound alarm 85db with soft tone test function for your comfort. Its sound is different from smoke detector alarms, which makes it more identifiable. Power led for low batteries and fault. Electronic self diagnostics. The detector checks its own electronic state every 60 seconds. Automatic monthly test The detector generates, by itself, a small and inoffensive quantity of gas in order to check the reliability of the sensor.
Historical Alarm Status Indicator It memorizes and warns about all alarm levels that have occurred during your home absence. Acoustic inhibition Acoustic inhibition for five minutes, which is automatically disabled in case of high concentrations. Maintenance free 6 year guarantee during which there is no maintenance operation required. It is not necessary to replace batteries, sensors, or other parts of the detector during its useful life. End of useful life It indicates the end of the useful life after 6 years and 3 months. Automatic disconnection At 6 years and 6 months. CO alarm warns about the end of the useful life three months beforehand. Certified according to the Norm EN 50291: 2001 Made In EU according to the standard ISO 9001: Characteristics
Where to install MONOXER 1. Please install CO alarms in rooms with fuel burners. 1. CO Alarms installed on top of the wall, above the height of any door or doorframe, and at least, 15cm below the ceiling. 2. CO Alarms installed on the ceiling. Please install the alarm at a 30cm distance from any wall. In case of a declined d ceiling, install the CO alarm at the top side of the ceiling. 2. Please install CO alarms in bedrooms and rooms, close to the zone where people breathe. 1. For example, in a room, this height will be close to the head of a sitting person, and in a bedroom, around the height of the pillow.
Where to install MONOXER NO YES Installation on walls or ceilings In any room that contains a fuel combustion devices In garages In rooms where you spend more time: kitchens, living rooms, bedrooms, etc In every room MONOXER alarms must be preferably interconnected in order to ensure that the alarm signal of any detector can be clearly audible in the whole place. In wet or humid zones. In a closed area (cupboard, behind a curtain). Where they can be obstructed. Straight below a sink. Close to a door or window. Close to an extractor/fan, or any other ventilation system. In places where temperature can fall below 10ºC or exceed 40ºC. In those places where dirty or dust can block the sensor. Close to a kitchen.
European Standard EN50291 New standard for domestic detection of carbon monoxide From year 2000 on, all domestic CO alarms will only be able to be homologated according to this standard. This standard is supplemented with EN:50292, which advises about election, installation, use and maintenance of these devices. A unique standard in all European countries. A much more demanding standard: only the most reliable CO alarms (electrochemical sensors) can fulfil it.
European Standard EN Wider temperature range for threshold alarm: between 15ºC and 25ºC (+/- 2ºC). 2. More rapid response before exposure of high concentrations of gas. Before a ppm exposure during 15min, and after an hour of recovery, the alarm must respond at 55ppm in 60-90min. For this purpose, more reliable sensors are required (electrochemical sensors). 3. More Rapid response in the presence of high h CO levels: l 330ppm<30min. 4. Higher sensitivity before low CO levels: 50ppm in 60-90min. 5. Wider range for threshold alarm in the case of relative humidity: between 30% and 70% (+/-10%). 6. Tighter specifications. An alarm must be produced when reaching 50ppm. As a consequence, the detector is more precise, it provokes a lower deviation, and a lower risk of fake alarm. 7. Higher immunity before poisonous gases such as silicon vapours, contained in cleaning products.
Alarm activation European Standard EN50291 Alarm is activated when there is a certain CO concentration for a period of time. No alarm will be activated if neither the necessary gas concentration, nor time threshold have been reached. More rapid response before a gas leak. Alarm remains activated above 50ppm. It notices CO changes in the environment. Alarm is not activated ated until the threshold stage is reached. ALARM CONDITIONS. Minimum requirements for the Standard EN 50291:2001. CO Concentration Alarm signal not before than Alarm signal before than 30 ppm 120 minutes - 50 ppm 60 minutes 90 minutes 100 ppm 10 minutes 40 minutes 300 ppm - 3 minutes
Carboxyhemoglobin: COHb All detectors certified according to EN use a new method, known as COHb programming. What is COHb? COHb is the abbreviation for carboxyhemoglobin. When CO is inhaled, it gets mixed with the haemoglobin of blood, forming COHb. Which are the effects? It causes hypoxia. It is combined with blood 240 times more quickly than oxygen, by displacing i it, and in a short period of time, it harms both heart and brain, being able to cause death. Carbon monoxide is absorbed by red corpuscles, reaching the lungs before oxygen. Why is COHb programming so important? Because CO effects in the organism are correlated with gas concentration and time exposure. A CO alarm programmed for measuring COHb mimics human body's response before a lethal gas, and therefore, it provides a more accurate measurement about the existing risk. What is the normal COHb level? Every human being has a small COHb quantity in blood, specially smokers, whose COHb quantities are placed much higher than the average.
CO effects COHb concentration ti in relation with CO Concentrations ti vs. Time. 80 Carboxyhemoglobin: COHb 50% COHb Irreversible brain damage or death ppm 40% COHb Loss of consciousness % COHb Drowsiness COH Hb % ppm 20% COHb Headache ppm 50ppm 25ppm %-10% COHb Long term effects over health.
