1 TruPortal Wireless Locks Quick Reference en-us Introduction This document describes how to connect the following wireless locks to TruPortal hardware: Schlage AD-400, which connects to TruPortal hardware via a Schlage Panel Interface Module (PIM) 400-TD2. Assa Abloy Aperio C IA, which connects to TruPortal hardware via the Assa Abloy Aperio AH20 Standard Wiegand Interface Communication Hub. See page 4 for details. The Schlage PIM400-TD2 PIM and Assa Abloy Aperio AH20 both connect to the following TruPortal devices: TruPortal Dual-Door base system (TP-SYS-2D) TruPortal Dual-Door Interface Module (TP-ADD-2D) Two TruPortal Dual-Door Interface Modules (TP-ADD-4D) TruPortal IP-based Single Door Controller (TP-IPSDC) WARNING: Circuit board components are vulnerable to damage by electrostatic discharge (ESD). ESD can cause immediate or subtle damage to sensitive electronic parts. An electrostatic charge can build up on the human body and then discharge when touching a board. A discharge can be produced when walking across a carpet and touching a board, for example. Before handling any board, make sure to dissipate any charge by touching the ground. This discharges any static electricity buildup. Connecting Schlage AD-400 Locks The Schlage AD-400 wireless locking system combines the hardware components required for a complete access control system that includes the wireless lock, credential reader, requestto-enter and request-to-exit sensors, door position switch, and other features. In addition, AD-400 locks have built-in intelligence that allows users to monitor the status of each door in the TruPortal User Interface via the Events page. Interface The Schlage PIM400-TD2 uses a Wiegand (data 1/data0) interface to connect up to two (2) AD-400 locks to a TruPortal door controller as follows: Door 1 connects through Access Point 1 connections on J8 and J10. Door 2 connects through the Access Point 2 connections on J7 and J11. WARNING: Disconnect the board power and batteries while wiring the PIM400-TD2 to a TruPortal door controller. Wiring and Setup For installation and operating instructions, refer to this document and the PIM400 and PIM401 User Guide at support. Use shielded cables for the signal wiring between the PIM400-TD2 and a TruPortal device which must have a UL 294- listed power supply capable of sourcing at least or 24 VDC. For maximum cable requirements, refer to the Specifications section on page 6. P/N A REV JUL13 1

TO EXIT Access Point Links and Status The PIM400-TD2 status is communicated by a red/green LED for each access point. A red LED communicates Real Time and Trouble status: Real Time status: - D40 = Access Point 1 - D43 = Access Point 2 Trouble status: - D1 = Access Point 1 - D2 = Access Point 2 Each access point has clock (CLK) and data () LEDs that indicate card and keypad data communication from the PIM400- TD2 to the access control panel. Placing the PIM400-TD2 into Link Mode 1. Power up the PIM400-TD2. 2. Press the LINK button(s): a. LINK 1 button (SW2): Press for 2 3 seconds, and then release to link Access Point 1. The corresponding LED (LED1 for LINK1) flashes red and green. This indicates that the PIM400-TD2 is in Link Mode. To abort Link Mode, press the same switch again. b. LINK 2 button (SW3): Press for 2 3 seconds, and then release to link to Access Point 2. The corresponding LED (LED2 for LINK2) flashes red and green. When the PIM goes into Link Mode, it is ready for the wireless lock to initiate linking. 3. While the PIM is in Link Mode (up to 30 minutes), push down on the interior door handle and present the badge. The LED on the lock will begin blinking rapidly for seconds. 4. After the LED stops blinking, release the interior door handle back into the horizontal position. Configuring the PIM400TD-2 and AD-400 To configure the PIM400-TD2 and AD-400, refer to the Schlage Utility Software User Guide at Note the following details about how AD-400 locks interact with Door Configuration Options configured on the System Administration > Devices page in the TruPortal User Interface: The AD-400 ignores the Normal Grant Access Time. Configure the Relatch After value in the Schlage Utility Software instead. The AD-400 ignores the Extended Grant Access Time. The AD-400 ignores the Door Strike Mode. 4 Connecting Assa Abloy Aperio Locks This section describes how to connect the Assa Abloy Aperio AH20 Communication hub to TruPortal devices. For installation and operating instructions, refer to this document and the documentation that accompanied the AH20 hub and locks. Assa Abloy Aperio locks work by communicating credentials wirelessly to the AH20 hub. The hub then communicates this information to the TruPortal System Controller, which makes the decision to grant or deny access. That decision is then sent back to the hub, which communicates it back to the wireless lock. Wiring and Setup Use twisted-pair cables for the signal wiring between the AH20 hub and a TruPortal device, which must have a UL 294-listed power supply capable of sourcing at least or 24 VDC. For cable requirements, refer to the Specifications section on page 6. Use the following table to connect the TP-SYS-2D to the AH20 hub.
