Provide a (Flow Test) certified by the appropriate water department on the nearest fire hydrant to the proposed building is required if the existing main size is 8 inch inside diameter. Minimum flow to be 1250 gpm with a residual of 20 psi. If existing main is 6 inch, the minimum flow is to be 1000 gpm with a residual of 20 psi. Gwinnett County Ordinance For Fire Protection And Life Safety, Section 46-37(d)(3). (Water Main) location and sizes are to be shown on plan. (Entrances) to the Building in new construction shall be provided per the requirements of Rule (8) (a-d). Accessible entrances must be provided in a number at least equivalent to the number of exits required by the applicable building/fire codes. (This paragraph does not require an increase in the total number of entrances planned for a facility.) (Installation or Repair) of Underground Fire Sprinkler water supplies shall be performed by a utility or fire sprinkler contractor or plumbing contractor licensed under Chapter 11 Title 25 Section (Fire Department Connections) if installed underground shall have a listed check valve, an auto-drip valve, a sign on a plate or fitting reading, "Auto-Sprinkler or Auto-Sprinkler/Standpipes", and hose connections shall have standard threads as specified in NFPA Post Indicator Valves (PIV) in the underground piping shall be omitted unless specifically permitted by the Gwinnett County Fire Marshal's Office. (Hydrant) locations are to be shown on plans. (Placement of Fire Hydrants) shall be a minimum of 3 ft. and a maximum of 15 ft. from the back of the curb or road edge with the large fire department connection facing the nearest fire department access point and set a minimum of 18" and a maximum of 36" above finished grade to the center of the large fire department connection. Authority Having Jurisdiction. (Fire Hydrants and Water Mains) are to be installed, flushed and under pressure before any combustible construction is started. Gwinnett County Ordinance For Fire Protection And Life Safety, Section 46-38(a). (Fire Hydrants) in Single Family Residential shall be spaced no more than 450 ft. apart. Gwinnett County Ordinance For Fire Protection and Life Safety, Section 46-37(a). (3-way Fire Hydrants) in Multi Family residential subdivisions shall be located such that all portions of the building can be reached by fire hose lays not to exceed 400 ft. Gwinnett County Ordinance For Fire Protection And Life Safety, Section 46-37(c). (Fire Hydrant Spacing) in Industrial & Commercial developments shall not exceed 300 ft along dedicated roadways. Additional hydrants may be required to permit all portions, of all buildings, to be reached by hose lays not to exceed 400 ft by road travel. Georgia "Note on Plan" During construction and for Permanent Access, roadways constructed of an all weather surface capable of supporting 75,000 pounds gross weight shall be provided per International Fire Code, Chapter 5, Section , 2006 Edition. Approved Fire Apparatus Access Roads shall be provided for every facility, building or portion of a building. The fire apparatus access road shall extend to within 150 feet of all portions of the facility or any portion of the exterior wall of the first story of the building as measured by an approved route around the exterior of the building or facility. International Fire Code, Chapter 5, Section , 2006 Edition. (Islands) in the roadway shall be made accessible per the requirements of (11). (Curb Ramps) at Marked Crossings shall be wholly within the markings excluding flared sides. Signage shall be located so it cannot be obstructed by a vehicle. Rule (9). Georgia (Accessible Parking Spaces) shall be provide in the amount per the requirements of (e)1, (e)2, (e)4, (e)5. (Curb Ramps) shall be located or protected to prevent their obstruction by parked vehicles. Rule (8). Georgia (Outdoor Ramps & Their Approaches) shall be designed so that water will not accumulate on walking surfaces per (8). Georgia Accessibility (Passenger Loading Zones) shall be provided per the requirements of (6). Georgia If an (Accessible Route) has less than 60 inches clear width, then passing spaces at least 60 inches by 60 inches shall be located at reasonable intervals not to exceed 200 ft. A T - intersection of two corrdors or walks is an acceptable passing place. Rule (4). Georgia Accessibility (Objects) projecting from walls, (for example, telephones) with their leading edges between 27 inches and 80 inches above the finished floor shall protrude no more than 4 inches to walks, halls, corridors, passage ways, or aisles. Rule Georgia Ramps shall be provided where required by rule (1). Georgia Place ramp details on the plans. (A detail can be downloaded from our website at (Fire Lanes) shall be at least 20 ft. in width with the road edge closest to the structure a minimum of 10 Ft. from the structure. Gwinnett County Ordinance For Fire Protection And Life Safety, Section (Access Road) width for one way roads shall be a minimum of 14 feet (SECURITY GATES ONLY). (Clear Width) of a ramp shall be 36 inches. Rule (3). Georgia (Security Gate Installation) shall be reviewed and permitted prior to installation. Installation shall comply with the Fire Marshal's General Order on "Security Gate Access" dated September 15, 2001.Gwinnett County Ordinance For Fire Protection And Life Safety, Section 46-43(a). International Fire Code, Chapter 5, Section 506, 2006 Edition. (Plans) for retail Self-Service gasoline operations shall be reviewed and permitted by the Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office Hazardous Material Section and a copy of the approvals shall be provided before final Certificate of Occupancy is issued. (Sides of Curb Ramps) shall be provided per the requirement of Rule (5). Georgia (Signage) shall be provided per the attached detail. "Van Accessible" shall be mounted immediately below the standard sign for van accessible spaces. Signs for Automobile accessible spaces shall be minimum of 60 inches to the bottom of the sign above finished grade. Signage for Van accessible spaces shall be a minimum of 84 inches to the bottom of the sign above finished grade. Rule (4). Georgia Place handicap signage detail on the plans. (A detail can be downloaded Site Plan appears to be okay as submitted. (FYI)**ALL COMMENTS** Shall be addressed on plans, NO PERMITS will be issued if any comments are outstanding. Vertical Clearance (13ft 6in) Two (2) sets of complete site plans and One (1) CD are required for final plan approval. EACH PAGE OF THE PLANS SHALL BE IDENTIFIED ON THE CD AND MATCH THE PLANS. The plans on the CD shall bear the seal of an engineer, or a letter of authenticity. The CD should be in PDF or TIF format submitted in a jewel case. NOTE: Any revisions to the approved plans will require a revised CD for our records. (FYI) Please be advised that in order to keep our records current it has become standard procedure for the Engineering Plan Review Unit to purge files regularly. If there is no action toward addressing the review comments within the (6) month period following the initial review of this submittal, this review file will be discarded. (FYI) If the Structure only has restrooms and a pump room or storage room, no plan approvals or inspections are needed by this office. (FYI) Town Homes, separated by a (2) hour fire barrier, will be considered single family residential. This office requires no permits or inspections. (Permit Approvals and Inspections) are not required for this project by this office. Any (Accessible Route) with a running slope greater than 1:20 is a ramp and shall comply with rule Cross slope shall not exceed 1:50. Rule (7). Georgia (Slope & Rise) shall meet the requirements of (2). Georgia At least one (Accessible Route) complying with Rule shall be provided within the boundary of the site from public transportation stops, accessible parking spaces, passenger loading zones if provided, and public streets or sidewalks, to an accessible building entrance. (Water Main) size in Industrial and Commercial developments shall be a minimum of 12" diameter ductile iron pipe (DIP) with fire hydrant spacing not to exceed 300 ft along the street. Additional hydrants may be required to permit all portions, of all buildings, to be reached by hose lays not to exceed 400 ft by road travel. Fire Hydrants shall be (3) way type. Gwinnett County Ordinance For Fire Protection And Life Safety, Section 46-37(c). Exception: This shall not apply to private driveways giving access from a public way to three or less buildings totaling a maximum of 500,000 square feet. (FYI) The (Minimum Water Main) size, for Industrial & Commercial projects, shall be 8" from the point the main is tapped at the street until it ends. (FYI) The (Minimum Water Main) size may be 6 inch from the point the main is tapped until is ends, if the distance is not more than 50 feet. During construction and for permanent access, roadways width shall be 20 feet minimum per International Fire Code, Edition. Gwinnett County Ordinance For Fire Protection And Life Safety, Section 46-43(d). Provide (Minimum Vertical Clearance) of 114 inches at accessible passenger loading zones and along at least one vehicle access route to such areas from site entrance(s) and exit(s). At parking spaces complying with (e)(2), provide minimum vertical clearance of 98 inches at the parking space and along at least one vehicle access route to such spaces from site entrance(s) and exit(s). Rule (5). Georgia Accessibility (Clear Height) of access roadway shall be 13 ft. 6 in. minimum per International Fire Code, Chapter 5, Section , 2006 Edition. 4 of 5

5 S355 S360 Curb Ramps (Detectable Warnings) 36" Clear Width (Curb Ramps) shall have a detectable warning complying with Rule Detectable warning textures shall consist of truncated domes (grooves may be used indoors only). Texture shall contrast in color with the surrounding surface. The detectable warning shall extend the full width and 2 ft. depth of the curb ramp. Rule (7). Georgia The (Minimum Clear Width) of an accessible route shall be 36 inches except at doors. If a person in a wheelchair must make a turn around an obstruction, the minimum clear width of the accessible route shall comply with Rule (3), Fig. 7(a) and (b). Georgia 5 of 5
