3 Safety & EMC/FCC Overview European Union United States In Europe, your product needs to carry the CE Mark at least before it can be sold on the market. The U.S. Department of Labor: Occupational Safety & Health Administration ( OSHA ) regulations, which are US law, contain requirements for approval ( i.e., testing and certification ) of lighting products by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory ( NRTL ). In addition, U.S. EMC requirements are controlled by the FCC ( Federal Communications Commission ), the rules for compliance are laid down in the Code of Federal Regulations. There are EMC emissions limits which apply to intentional radiators ( such as mobile phones, WLAN etc ) and separate regulation that apply to unintentional radiators.
