5 for the fire 1.0 Scope This document has been prepared by FPA Australia s Technical Advisory Committee for Passive Fire Protection (TAC/19) to provide guidance to the fire protection and construction industry in relation to the specification and application of intumescent coating systems (ICS) for the fire. ICS s are an emerging method of providing fire protection to protect structural steel however, the specification and application of each component of an ICS is fundamental to the performance of the system. This guideline presents features of good practice in relation to the specification and application of ICS s and is recommended to industry in order to achieve consistency in the use and performance of ICS s.
