Outside of the standard 4-20mA range, a 3.8mA output indicates sensor calibration in progress and an output of 3.6mA or less indicates a fault condition. 3. How often is calibration required? The time interval between periodic calibrations can be affected by environmental factors such as a very cold and dry climate, a very hot and dry climate, and a very hot and humid climate. Also, the more the device is exposed to gas, the shorter the interval between calibrations: typically 30-, 60-, or 90-day intervals, depending on ambient conditions. 4. Do the sensors need to be calibrated when installed? Calibration should be done upon installation of the device. Changing to a sensor of a different gas type will require calibration. 5. What are the known poisoning agents? It is important that exposure to high concentrations of solvent vapors is avoided during storage, installation, and operation. 6. How long do sensors last (on average)? Can the FlexVu UD10 reset/track the number of running hours the sensor has been in service? No, the FlexVu UD10 does not reset the number of hours the sensor or the transmitter has been in service. 2 8. Can a sensor s end-of-life be estimated from its data logs? Because there is no end-of-life indicator, an individual will have to check sensor s total running hours and calculate hours into days, and days into years to determine if it has exceeded the expected running life of that sensor type. 9. What accessories are available with the GT3000? Available accessories: a calibration kit, magnet, and replaceable filter. Because the device is rated IP66, splash guard or rain shields are not needed. 10. If the detector senses high or low temperature outside the operating range, does the fault relay and alarm switch? The unit will not generate a fault when the temperature is out of range unless the temperature causes zero drift or some other failure is induced. However, the minimum and maximum temperatures are saved in non-volatile memory and can be accessed via the menu structure. The unit attempts to work when the temperature is out of range. 11. 4 12. Is a duct mount solution available for the GT3000? Duct mount version is currently not available. 13. Is the battery for the real-time clock replaceable? The GT3000 contains no field-repairable components. User performed service is limited to replacement of the gas sensor module. The expected life of a new battery is at least six years. 14. Since the GT3000 does not have alarm set points, what does the Reset Function (HART) accomplish? It can be used to reset the minimum/maximum temperatures to which the sensor has been exposed. 15. Can the GT3000 be mounted in the vertical or horizontal position with no adverse effect? The gas detector must be mounted in a vertical position only, with the sensor pointing down. 16. Is the GT3000 compatible with other Det-Tronics gas-detection equipment, including U9500B-G, R8471B-F? The GT3000 can be used with any Det-Tronics transmitter or controller, including U9500B-G or R8471B-F, that can receive a 4-20mA input. 17. What intrinsically safe barrier model is recommended for use with the GT3000? 5 19. What is the maximum allowable separation distance between the GT3000 and FlexVu Universal Display? What size (diameter) wire must be used to accomplish this distance? When a GT3000 is separated from a FlexVu Universal Display, a Det-Tronics sensor termination box must be used. The maximum distance between the termination box and the FlexVu UD10/UD20 is 2000 ft. (609.6 meters) and depends on wire size (see chart below). FlexVu UD10/UD20 with GT What does IP66 rating mean? Is IP66 as good as NEMA 4? IP66 is an ingress protection rating as defined in international standard IEC It classifies the degrees of protection provided against the intrusion of solid objects, dust, accidental contact, and water in electrical enclosures. IP66 specifically means the GT3000 is dust tight; no ingress of dust with complete protection against contact, and protected against powerful water jets; water projected in powerful jets against the enclosure from any direction shall have no harmful effects. IP66 and NEMA 4 are comparable; however the GT3000 cannot get NEMA 4 rating because it has plastic components which would not pass the required fire test subjected to for NEMA 4. However the spray down test for NEMA 4 is the same as IP66. (And to be undamaged by the formation of ice on the enclosure.)
