2 We only use Photoelectric Alarms children in a tragic house fire. Recently Karl Stefanovic interviewed a family that lost 11 men, women and This tragic story not just emphasises the importance of having smoke alarms installed, but what type of alarms should be installed at all properties around Australia? This is not a new concern in Australia. Fire protection authorities have been worried about the use of ionisation smoke alarms for some time. Complete Compliance Australia can install PHOTOELECTRIC hard wired and PHOTOELECTRIC battery operated alarms. At your next change of tenancy or lease renewal. All alarms supplied by CCA are sourced and purchased in Australia!! Access link below for the full story minutes Logan Housefire "The Alarming Truth" Read more. 3 fire alarms but finds no cause Coroner James McDougall found working smoke alarms would most probably have saved lives in the fire that killed 11 people at Slacks Creek in The victims were aged between three and 57 and included six children. There were two smoke alarms in the upstairs section of the house but Mr McDougall found there were no working smoke alarms in the house at the time of the fire. I find also that had the smoke alarms been working there was a reasonable prospect that some or all of the victims could have escaped, Mr McDougall said. Mr McDougall found the 11 victims died from smoke inhalation at about 12.10am on August 24, 2011, after being trapped in their home, which was consumed by fire. The coroner recommended photoelectric smoke alarms be required in any level containing bedrooms, in every bedroom and between bedrooms, including hallways. Once the law is introduced building owners who do not have smoke alarms must install them immediately, or within a six to 12 month grace period. Reports suggested 50 per cent of lives lost in fires could be prevented by having interconnected photoelectric smoke alarms, he said. Existing alarms that stopped operating or were at the end of their useful life should be replaced with photoelectric alarms. We believe Queensland should be a safer place to live, Mr Roche said. article courtesy of page=1&controller= &action=view& _id=7&wysijap=subscriptions 3/5
