When this product is used according to the recommendations set herein, the local MRL s will not be exceeded. The Registration holder cannot, however, be held liable for export crops exceeding the import tolerances of other countries. In the case of crops grown for local consumption allow the following periods between last application and harvesting: Apples 100 days Citrus 90 days Nectarines 100 days Table grapes 80 days Handle with extreme care. Poisonous when swallowed, inhaled or through skin contact. Toxic to fish, bees and wildlife. Do not apply when bees are actively visiting treated areas. Store under lock and key in a cool, dry place, away from food and feed. Keep out of reach of children, uninformed persons and animals. Do not expose product to humidity. Because of the hygroscopicity of the product, the container should be tightly sealed if any product is left after use. Re-entry Do not enter treated area within 2 days after treatment unless wearing protective clothing. In case of poisoning - CALL A DOCTOR AND MAKE THIS LABEL AVAILABLE TO HIM. Aerial application: Aerial application of DICARZOL is only allowed as a bait application. Notify all inhabitants in the immediate area to be sprayed and issue necessary warnings. 2 spray over or allow drift to contaminate water or adjacent areas. Please refer to the SANS Code of Practice for the aerial application of agricultural chemicals. Although DICARZOL is regarded as crop-safe on most important cultivars, this does not mean that a more sensitive cultivar might not be commercialized in the future. Where a new cultivar is encountered, large areas should not be sprayed without prior testing of DICARZOL on that cultivar. Although this remedy has been extensively tested under a large variety of conditions, the registration holder does not warrant that it will be efficacious under all conditions because the action and effect thereof may be affected by factors such as abnormal climatic and storage conditions, quality of dilution water, compatibility with other substances not indicated on the label and the occurrence of resistance of the pests to the remedy concerned, as well as by the method, time and accuracy of application. Furthermore the registration holder does not accept responsibility for damage to crops, vegetation, the environment or harm to man or animal or for lack of performance of the remedy concerned due to failure of the user to follow the label instructions or to the occurrence of conditions which could not have been foreseen in terms of the registration. Consult the supplier in the event of any uncertainty. PRECAUTIONS: Do not inhale fumes or spray mist. Wear protective clothing (overall, boots, rubber gloves, respirator, face shield) when handling or applying the product. Wash contaminated clothing daily. Wash immediately with soap and cold water after use or accidental skin contact. In case of eye contact, flush immediately with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. Do not eat, drink or smoke whilst mixing or applying or before washing hands and face and changing clothes. Prevent contamination of food, eating utensils, feed and drinking water. Prevent spray drift onto other crops, grazing, rivers, dams or other areas not under treatment. Clean applicators thoroughly before re-using with other material and do not pollute the environment with wash water. When empty, rinse the container three times with a volume of water equal to at least one tenth of that of the container and add the rinsing to the contents of the spray tank. Destroy the container by puncturing and burying or burning it. Do not use the container for any other purpose. SYMPTOMS OF POISONING: Short-acting symptoms of a cholinesterase inhibitor. Headache, fatigue, faintness, giddiness, excessive sweating, nausea, abdominal pain, vomiting, blurred vision, muscle twitching, usually small pupils, respiratory distress, coma. FIRST AID TREATMENT: ALWAYS OBTAIN TREATMENT BY A DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY. Remove patient from the source of poisoning (to a well ventilated area) and keep him quiet and reassured. When inhaled, supply fresh air or oxygen. Call a doctor and make the information in this leaflet available to him. Remove contaminated clothing and rinse contaminated body area with plenty of soap and cold water. Do not rub skin. Flush contamination out of eyes with plenty of clean water for 15 minutes. If swallowed, vomiting should only be induced by medically trained personnel. Give patient plenty of water to drink if conscious. Take patient immediately to the nearest doctor. Administer artificial respiration or closed chest cardiac massage if necessary. Do not apply direct mouth-to-mouth respiration. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. In case of unconsciousness bring patient into stable side position for transport. DICARZOL English UI Page 2 of 6

3 INFORMATION FOR DOCTOR: Atropine sulphate 2 4 mg (adult) intravenously and repeat at 10 minute intervals until atropinization (dry, flushed skin and tachycardea) appears. Pralidoxime (2 PAM, Protopam) and other oximes are contra-indicated. If the product was ingested, gastric irrigation with added activated charcoal is advised. If necessary anticonvulsant therapy with Diazepam intravenously. RESISTANCE WARNING: For resistance management, DICARZOL is a GROUP CODE 1A INSECTICIDE. Any insect population may contain individuals naturally resistant to DICARZOL and other GROUP CODE 1A INSECTICIDES. The resistant individuals can eventually dominate the insect population if these insecticides are used repeatedly. These resistant insects may not be controlled by DICARZOL or any other GROUP CODE 1A INSECTICIDES. Since the presence of resistant insects is difficult to detect prior to insecticide application, it is of the utmost importance that treated areas be inspected at regular intervals to identify the occurrence of insecticide-resistant insects timeously. Neither the Registration holder nor the Distributor will accept liability for performance failures in the event of a build-up of resistant insects resulting from inadequate resistance management practices as indicated on the label. To delay insecticide resistance: Avoid exclusive repeated use of insecticides from the same insecticide GROUP CODE. Alternate or tank mix with products from different insecticide GROUP CODES. Integrate other control methods [chemical, cultural, biological] into insect control programmes. For further information on resistance management contact your local representative. AERIAL APPLCATION DO NOT COMMENCE AERIAL APPLICATION BEFORE CONSULTING YOUR DICARZOL REPRESENTATIVE. DICARZOL may only be applied by a registered Aerial Application Operator using a correctly calibrated, registered aircraft according to the instructions of SANS (Aerial Application of Agricultural Pesticides). Ensure that the spray mixture is distributed evenly over the target area and that the loss of spray material during application is restricted to a minimum. It is therefore essential that the following criteria be met: Volume: A spray mixture volume of minimum 90 l per hectare is recommended. As this product has not been evaluated at a reduced volume rate, the registration holder cannot guarantee efficacy, or be held responsible for any adverse effects if this product is applied aerially at a lower volume rate than recommended above. Droplet coverage: 30 to 40 droplets per cm² must be recovered at the target area. Droplet size: A droplet spectrum with a VMD of 300 to 350 microns is recommended. Limit the production of fine droplets less than 150 microns (high drift and evaporation potential) to a minimum. Flying height: Maintain the height of the spray boom at 3 to 4 meters above the target. Do not spray when aircraft dives, is in a climb or when banking Use suitable atomizing equipment that will produce the desired droplet size and coverage, but which will ensure the minimum loss of product. The spraying system must produce a droplet spectrum with the smallest possible spectrum width. Position all the atomizers within the inner 60 to 75 % of the wingspan to prevent droplets from entering the wingtip vortices. The use of a drift retardant and/or low drift aerial spraying nozzle (e.g. straight stream nozzle) is recommended. DICARZOL English UI Page 3 of 6

4 The difference in temperature between the wet and dry bulb thermometers, of a whirling hygrometer, should not exceed 8 C. Stop spraying if the wind speed exceeds 15 km/h. Stop spraying under turbulent, unstable and dry conditions during the heat of the day. Spraying under temperature inversion conditions (spraying in or above the inversion layer) and/or high humidity conditions (relative humidity 80 % and above) may lead to the following: a) reduced efficacy due to suspension and evaporation of small droplets in the air (inadequate coverage). b) damage to other sensitive crops and/or non-target areas through drifting of the suspended spray cloud away from the target field. Ensure that the Aerial Spray Operator knows exactly which fields to spray. Obtain an assurance from the Aerial Spray Operator that the above requirements will be met and that relevant data will be compiled in a logbook and kept for future reference. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: USE ONLY AS DIRECTED COMPATIBILITY: DICARZOL is compatible with most insecticides and fungicides but should not be mixed with alkaline products. Contact the distributor in the event of any uncertainty. SPRAY WATER: Water with a very high ph can negatively influence the efficacy of DICARZOL. When spray water exceeds ph 7,0 it must be corrected with a suitable acidifier or buffering agent to ph 5,0. EFFECT OF RAIN: The period of control of thrips can be negatively influenced by heavy rain after application. TIME OF APPLICATION: For optimum control apply early in the morning when thrips concentrate more to the outside of the trees. (Not less than 500 g/ha product). If thrips are still active after blossoming apply a third application 14 days after petal fall. Refer to NOTES. REMARKS First application at % blossom, followed by a second application at % petal fall. (Not less than 500 g/ha product). Refer to NOTES. NOTES: It is of utmost importance to apply early before thrips enter the blossoms. Do not apply DICARZOL between 20 % blossom and 75 % petal drop. DICARZOL English UI Page 4 of 6

5 The above recommendations will only suppress thrips present at the time of application and will only reduce early season thrips damage. CROP AND PEST CITRUS Thrips (Scirtothrips aurantii) DOSAGE Bait application: 25 g g white sugar / 100 l water. Aerial application: 650 g + 5 kg white sugar in a minimum of 90 l water / ha REMARKS Apply at first signs of thrips as a bait application using 5 15 l spray mixture per tree (depending on tree size). Repeat when scouting indicates that reinfestation is occurring. Do not apply DICARZOL later than the end of January on early cultivars. In emergency situations where timely application is critical. Refer to NOTES NOTES: START OF THRIPS CONTROL PROGRAMME: Thrips population can increase during pre-blossom growth flushes and high initial populations can lead to a long control programme being required during the post-blossom period. By using correct scouting or trapping methods, such population increases can be determined and a control programme initiated in the pre-blossom period. THRIPS CONTROL DURING UNEVEN BLOSSOMING: Weather conditions can cause uneven blossoming and hence a prolonged blossom period. Under these conditions damage can occur particularly to fruit formed early. In such situations an early bait application is recommended, followed-up by later bait applications, should re-infestation occur. THRIPS CONTROL DURING THE POST FLOWERING PERIOD: During 8 10 weeks after 100 % petal fall, thrips control is regarded as critical in preventing fruit damage. If the population pressure is moderate, use a bait application at 100 % petal fall and follow-up when re-infestation occurs. An acceptable red scale control programme must be used when DICARZOL is used for thrips control. Ideally not more than three DICARZOL applications per season must be applied, especially in orchards under biological control. Spray intervals must be determined by scouting to establish when re-infestation occurs. Should further thrips control be required after an initial DICARZOL programme, it is preferable not to use a product containing a carbamate.
