Floricane varieties Sønsteby and Heide 2008 Floral induction occurs in short days and low temperatures Induction is stimulated at temperatures of 12 to 15 C.
Floricane varieties Sønsteby and Heide 2008 Plants have a period of juvenility, need to develop 15 to 20 node.

Primocane varieties Blooming freely at temperatures of approximately 28 C. Have a short juvenile phase and the response to floral induction conditions occurs with a status of five nodes.
Primocane varieties Sønsteby and Heide 2009
Primocane fruiting or remontancy Ability to bloom in the same growing season, therefore fruiting occurs in autumn
Primocane fruiting Raspberry breeding Breeding programs are focused on obtaining primocane fruiting varieties Economic importance Extends the harvest period They can be grown in warmer environments

The berry production is expanding in different climates and forcing systems. As a consequence the need for programming the plants in the nursery is increasing. To face this change it is necessary to improve the knowledge about flower induction and plant architecture of the different raspberry cultivars.
Objectives The research was meant to describe the shoot growth, flower differentiation and positioning (architecture, Savini et al. 2005) of raspberry along the growing season in Trentino (Italy)
Materials Twenty five one-year-old plants per cultivar of raspberry (Rubus idaeus L.; primocane fruiting 3 new varieties and 1 selection and floricane fruiting Tulameen, Violet) were grown in Vigolo Vattaro (TN) in northern Italy (725 m a.s.l.; N E).
Methods five plants per cultivar were studied : plant height and branches length for each node the presence of visible flowers, fruits, shoots, or buds The buds were dissected and examined under a stereomicroscope at 10 to 40X magnifications. Bud Analysis: The degree of differentiation of the floral buds, based on a numerical 1 to 8 scale (Figure 1) was used to quantify the developmental stage

Neri, et al 2012 The new cultivar Lagorai showed an interesting intermediate behaviour between primocane cultivar Erika and the wellknown floricane cultivar Tulameen.
The flowering process The floral induction depends on the variety and environmental conditions In primocane varieties, the floral induction occurs before the entry into dormancy. In floricane varieties the floral induction is accompanied by the entry into dormancy of the buds.
The flowering process Induction Initiation Differentiation
Genes regulating flowering Fuente: Blázquez, 2000
Vernalization Flower induction by low temperatures. Quantitative process. Different vernalization requirements separate species between annuals and biennials.
