2 TERRAIN 500WG Herbicide is a unique and versatile Group G chemistry that should be considered as part of any robust weed management strategy. It is the perfect partner to a wide range of Nufarm herbicides and supports most winter cereal or grain legume pre-sowing cropping programs. It provides excellent, economical burndown on a wide range of broadleaf weeds including wild radish, wireweed and vines, as well as certain grasses and volunteer crops. Active ingredient: Flumioxazin. Chemical group: PPO protoporphyrinogen oxidase. Chemical sub-group: N-phenylphthalimides Herbicide Resistance Management group: Group G. Formulation: 500g/kg active ingredient as a water dispersible granule. Mode of action: Cell membrane disruptor. When applied to the foliage of susceptible weeds, Flumioxazin acts by inhibiting Protox, an enzyme that is important in the synthesis of chlorophyll. The result of this interference is rupture of the cell membrane, seen as rapid necrosis of the leaf. Sunlight is vital and generally the speed of kill (brownout) obtained from Flumioxazin is related to light intensity. The abundance of sunlight in typical Australian conditions makes TERRAIN an effective herbicide, even in winter. Flumioxazin degrades rapidly in water and soil. Dissipation occurs by a combination of hydrolysis and microbial oxidation.

4 TERRAIN at work The main use pattern for TERRAIN is as a burndown partner to enhance the efficacy of glyphosate & paraquat herbicides. When applied prior to sowing, TERRAIN controls growing weeds or volunteers from the former crop(s) by contact. It has a low use rate of 30g/ha with no residual effect, allowing sowing to begin soon after application. Select from within this range to suit the weed stage, weed density and conditions of your situation. Withholding periods grazing Fallow do not allow livestock to graze vegetation for two weeks after application. Failed crop after planting do not graze or cut crops for stock food for six weeks after application.

5 Using TERRAIN TERRAIN is best applied prior to sowing at 30g/ha. Application can be made barley lupins soybeans immediately prior to sowing the following crops: chickpeas faba beans maize mung beans sunflowers wheat field peas oats lentils sorghum TERRAIN should not be used prior to sowing canola. In certain circumstances, crop damage has been observed where TERRAIN was applied prior to sowing canola. As a pre-plant burndown, TERRAIN is most effective when applied to small weeds. Do not treat weeds under poor growing or dormant conditions such as drought and water logging, or following frosts, disease or insect damage. When mixing with a partner, always choose the appropriate rate for the conditions. Give due consideration to weed spectrum, growth stage and environmental conditions. The addition of TERRAIN will accelerate and enhance the performance of the nonselective partner. 6 Packaging, mixing and handling TERRAIN is conveniently packed in a box containing 8x300g sachets, enough to treat 80 hectares. Each foil sachet contains a 300g water-soluble bag of Flumioxazin, which can be placed directly into the spray tank. Simply tear the foil envelope starting from the notch and empty the contents into the spray tank. Avoid contact with the sachet. The water-soluble sachets dissolve readily in water. Exposure of the water-soluble sachet to moisture or wet hands may cause breakage. Open the foil envelopes only as needed and protect unused sachets by keeping them in the original container. When pre-mixing chemicals in a separate mixing vessel prior to pumping into a large-volume commercial spray tank, the nature of the mixture, concentration and saturation time may limit the number of sachets that can be added to the vessel at once. Users are advised to add one sachet at a time, while employing strong agitation, to determine the optimal mixing regime. TERRAIN dissolves easily, even in very cold water, and leaves no residue in the bottom of the tank or in the filters. Strong agitation in the spray tank aids and accelerates this process. When cleaning spraying equipment, wear cotton overalls buttoned to the neck and wrist, and elbow-length chemical-resistant gloves.

7 Tank cleaning After TERRAIN is applied, the following steps must be taken to clean the spray equipment: Completely drain the spray tank. Rinse the sprayer thoroughly, including the inside and outside of the tank and all in-line screens Fill the spray tank with clean water and flush all hoses, booms, screens and nozzles Add Nufarm Tank and Equipment cleaner and circulate through sprayer for five minutes. Then flush all hoses, booms, screens and nozzles for a minimum of fifteen minutes Drain tank completely Add enough clean water to the spray tank to allow all hoses, booms, screens and nozzles to be flushed for two minutes Remove all nozzles and screens and rinse them in clean water.
