1 Farm Town: How Many Trees and Flowers Do You Really Need? How Many Trees Do You REALLY Need? By Melody Phipps How Many Trees? FACT: Most people have too many trees and flowers. This is a simple way to figure out how many you really need. Bear in mind that any extras could make coins if you sell the excess at the market. Too many trees and flowers on your farm make it slower to load and a huge amount of excess could be responsible for Flash Crashes. These figures are based on the assumption that you get 2 piles / boxes of product per tree, you fertilize AND you irrigate. IMPORTANT If you add more facilities to your farms that use tree products you MUST recheck your figures to make sure you are still producing enough produce / piles to maintain your facilities. Check the facility to see if they are using trees and then redo the math on that specific tree. Add more where needed. The math herein is on what you have NOW and doesn't account for future purchases. Disclaimer: This information is based on the following: You harvest and chop all trees that are mature once every day. If you fill your facilities 2 or more times on the fill day, then you must allow for that by adding more trees. For instance: If you fill your facilities 2 times a day EVERY FILL day, then double the requirements. Other consideration examples are: Selling stock, Buying facilities that require tree products, taking days off (if you don't farm on the weekends, you might need to add a few trees to make up for that) or anything else that decreases your stock. On the other hand, you get bonus', you get rewards and you receive stock when working other's farms. This is not necessarily a hard fast rule on how many trees you need but rather a guide to help you based on the information found in the crop manager. Due to the fact that the boxes of harvest or piles of logs that you get varies we have figured the average of 2. Some times you will get more, sometimes you will get less. To find out how many trees you need per day open up the Facility Manager. Click on the note icon at the top right. Make sure the settings are for "All Facilities" "1 Day" 12 hour and 2 day Harvest Time: number of trees required for 1 day divide by 2, divide by 2, X 15 divide by number of days between filling from empty to full. EXAMPLE: I need 420 Maple log piles to fill my facilities 1 day. Your amount may be different: 420 / 2 = 210 (2 piles per tree) 210 / 2 = 105 (I fertilize) 105 X 15 = 1575 (It takes 15 days worth to fill the facilities) 1575 / 3 = 525 (I fill every 3 days) Irrigation figures doesn't change the outcome I need to plant 525 Maple Trees to meet my demands
2 The following shows the difference in the amount of time between FILLS. This is just for your information. If I filled my facilities from empty to full Every Day I would need to plant 1575 Maple trees. If I fill my facilities from empty to full every 2 days I need to plant 1575/ 2 =788 trees If I fill my facilities from empty to full every 3 days I need to plant 1575 / 3 = 525 trees If I fill my facilities from empty to full every 4 days I need to plant 1575 / 4 = 394 trees If I fill my facilities from empty to full every 5 days I need to plant 1575 / 5 = 315 trees If I fill my facilities from empty to full every 6 days I need to plant 1575 / 6 = 263 trees If I fill my facilities from empty to full only 1 time per week (every 7 days) I need to plant 1575 / 7 = 225 trees. *********************************************************** 3 AND 4 DAY HARVEST TIME: number of trees required for 1 day divide by 2, divide by 2, X 15 divide by number of days between filling from empty to full X 2 (for the 2 days it takes to harvest after irrigating). EXAMPLE: I need 198 Apple Tree boxes to fill my facilities 1 day. 198 / 2 = 99 (2 boxes per tree) 99 / 2 = 50 (I fertilize) 50 X 15 = 750 (It takes 15 days worth to fill the facilities) 750 / 3 = 250 (I fill every 3 days) 250 X 2 = 500 (Irrigation allows me to harvest every 2 days) I need to plant 500 Apple Trees to meet my demands *Note Apple trees actually take 3 days to harvest so irrigation would cut it down to a day and 1/2. Since I only harvest 1 time per day I needed to round up to 2 days for harvest) 5 DAY HARVEST TIME: number of trees required for 1 day divide by 2, divide by 2, X 15 divide by number of days between filling from empty to full X 3 (for the 3 days it takes to harvest after irrigating). EXAMPLE: I need 208 boxes of coconuts per day to fill my facilities 208 / 2 = 104 (2 boxes per tree) 104 / 2 = 52 (I fertilize) 52 X 15 = 780 (It takes 15 days worth to fill the facility) 780 / 3 = 260 ( I fill every 3 days) 260 X 3 = 780 (I irrigate which cuts harvest time 1/2) I need to plant 780 Coconut trees to meet my demand NOTE: This does not include bonus items and rewards that you may receive, it is a guide to help you cut down on the number of trees on your farms or give you an idea of how many you need to plant. To see how many trees you have on a specific farm, type the name of the tree in the search tool in your toolbox while at the farm.
3 Watch for the white letters that come up to tell you how many has been found. Make sure you type the name correctly. Peaches will yield 0 Found Peach will tell you how many you have. Pea will bring up all trees that have PEA letter combo in them. Suggestion: At this time, for easiest harvest plant your trees vertically and in 12 tree wide increments. Leave about 6-8 tree spaces between each line. All flowers take about 3.3 days to harvest, I would figure them at 4. You can use the same formulas for flowers. *********************************************************** If the above makes sense to you then you don't need to read further. Otherwise, explanations follow. Explained Further: number of piles / boxes needed for one day divided by 2 (each tree produces 2 piles/boxes) this is the number of trees you need to produce for one day in all your facilities with no enhancement (fertilizer or irrigation). Take the number found and divide it by 2 because you fertilize your trees and they give you double the amount. The number you have now is actually how many trees you need to harvest when you fertilize the crops for one day. It takes 15 days worth of product to fill a facility from empty to full. So multiply the number you have by 15. This it is the number of trees you need to fill the facility one time. if you fill your facilities every day from empty to full this is the number of trees you will need to plant. Note: your facilities are considered EMPTY when you hire people to work them and you have 0% to produce. However, If you if you fill your facilities every 2 days divide the number by 2, every 3 days divide by 3, every 4 days divide by 4 ect. In other words you post or request help in your facilities every 2, 3, 4 ect days. Also note that if you say you fill your facilities 2 X a week you are actually posting 3.5 or every 4 days, not every 2 days. Every 2 days you are asking for help in your facilities every other day. MAPLE TREE EXAMPLE Explained Further: I need 420 Maple trees to fill my facilities 1 day. Harvest time is 12 hours I only harvest 1 time per day so this will mean my Maples will be harvested once every day. Each of my Maple trees produce 2 piles of logs so I can divide by /2 = 210 I fertilize always so I can half that number 210 / 2 is is the number of trees I need to harvest every day. I need 15 days worth to fill my facilities 105 X 15 = Maple trees will fill my facilities from empty to full.
4 The actual amount that you will get from your harvest is dependent on several conditions such as Bonus, Belts, Dans, or Employee Harvest. Special Thanks to Michelle Janet and Barbara Elwart who worked through the formulas and counted trees, argued the points and literally dragged me to the finish line. If not for you, this would not be. Updated February 2015
