Gaylord s vast experience with libraries makes it possible to fully understand the needs of librarians and to develop solutions for them. From accommodating ADA requirements to offering superior wire management for networking needs, Gaylord furniture provides everyday functionality that makes a librarian s workday more comfortable and efficient. Providing expert assistance with renovations and enhancements is where Gaylord excels. Our library design team listens as you describe your needs, analyzes the dynamics of your situation and recommends, in detail, viable solutions for your library. Using 3D software technology to help you envision these solutions, our layout experts will guide you in the planning of your library renovations. Manufacturing. State-of-the-art equipment, dedicated craftsmen and interior design professionals comprise the Gaylord difference. We produce all of our furniture in the United States, with manufacturing plants in New York, Indiana, and North Carolina. We can customize our pieces to suit your library s unique requirements using our standard laminates and finishes, or you may specify your own custom colors. Most of our products can be modified to meet the needs of your library. Design. Gaylord has developed 7 different lines of proprietary library furniture, each line featuring circulation desks and a full complement of stand-alone modules. Select from our Premium Allusion or Bookcraft lines that offer our highest quality and maximum functionality, our Designer Sierra or Harmony lines that give your library a modern look with designer features, our Traditional Classic and Americana lines that fit into any traditional décor, or our Value St. Croix line that gives you a contemporary design and the most for your money. We also produce end panels and canopy tops for steel shelving, wood book trucks, displayers, and wood shelving, all in coordinating styles and finishes to match our furniture lines. Materials. Our craftsmen use only the finest quality hardwoods and veneers, chosen from a selection of Northern-grown red oaks and maples. Face panels are either book-matched or rift-cut veneers, while edge-banding is solid oak or maple. Work surfaces use horizontal-grade, high-pressure laminates for maximum resistance to scrapes, stains and UV discoloration. Construction. Gaylord furniture is manufactured using the best woodworking and casework practices. Major joints are mortised and tenoned, securely glued and screwed, or secured with durable metal-to-metal or metal-to-wood fasteners. Exposed surfaces are sanded by hand to completely eliminate machine marks. Case components are factory-assembled with both drawers and doors installed before shipment. All hardware is of the highest quality. Larger tables are constructed with embedded keels to prevent sagging. Finish. Gaylord offers a wide selection of standard finishes for the convenience of our customers, as well as the ability to match any finish. After inspection, toners are employed to achieve a clear, uniform color match before applying a coat of high solids vinyl sealer. After a drying and hand-sanding process, surfaces are coated with a catalyzed lacquer, creating a finish that is highly resistant to stains, abrasions and UV discoloration. Wire Management. Most carrels, workstations and desk components are pre-configured for wire management. In addition, grommets and wire channels can be added to any piece of furniture. For added convenience, we also offer a variety of other accessories, including keyboard trays, mouse trays and CPU holders. Modularity. All of our furniture and shelving is designed using modular assembly techniques. This feature allows you to connect modules in any configuration, or to use each piece as a free-standing unit, affording you great flexibility should you need to renovate your library. We ve also designed shelving and carrels in a complete range of starters and adders, with end panels available to meet future layout changes. 2 3
