1 Media Release For immediate release THE NATHAN YONG COLLECTION LIVE THE ORDINARY EXTRAORDINARILY WITH IPSE IPSA IPSUM Singapore, 9 March 2017 ipse ipsa ipsum unveils its newest range of products at the International Furniture Fair Singapore (IFFS) with the Nathan Yong Collection. Designed in collaboration with renowned local designer Nathan Yong, the eponymous collection is the first of ipse ipsa ipsum s line of co-authored collections. The collection features a wide range of furniture and lifestyle accessories that combines the authenticity of natural materials with an element of surprise that will delight the customer. Bringing Delight to Customers First launched in 2016, ipse ipsa ipsum was born out of a desire to create handcrafted furniture and accessories that are luxurious yet accessible. By combining unique design aesthetics with a rich heritage in traditional Indian craftsmanship, ipse ipsa ipsum aims to redefine living by enabling ordinary people to experience an extraordinary way of life. It takes an ordinary person to do extraordinary things because we are capable of doing so much more than we think. From product design and development to the retail environment, we want to fire up our imagination and present customers with choices to make living exceptional, explains Mr Saurabh Mangla, Creative Head of ipse ipsa ipsum. In line with this, ipse ipsa ipsum is collaborating with Yong to bring their newest products to life. Yong s design philosophy of evoking a sense of wonder to those who observe his design is aligned with ipse ipsa ipsum s own philosophy of creating products that contain elements of surprise and nostalgia. It is this complementary vision that makes him the perfect fit for ipse ipsa ipsum s first co-authored collection.

2 A Bespoke Approach to Design One of the hallmarks of the Nathan Yong Collection is the variety of options that customers have to personalise the individual pieces. For example, they can select from multiple variations of a sofa by choosing different components such as an additional lamp or mirror. They can also choose between white or grey leather hides to adorn the hand-forged sofa, making it a part of their home that is truly their own. This wide variety of options is only made possible by the traditional Indian craftsmanship that forms the framework of ipse ipsa ipsum. The brand s close working relationship with several craftsmen from India allows it the flexibility to offer customisation options that empower customers and give them a heightened sense of ownership over their living space. I am delighted for the opportunity to work closely with ipse ipsa ipsum on this new collection of furniture and accessories. They have a long lineage of traditional craftsmanship behind them and their craftsmen s ability to forge metal and marble underscores the wonderment that I hope to evoke through the Collection, says Nathan Yong, Founder/Owner of nathanyongdesign. 3 Biographies Saurabh Mangla Creative Head, ipse ipsa ipsum A history buff and storyteller at heart, Saurabh Mangla developed his inquisitive mind at a young age when his grandfather shared stories from far and wide of the wars he fought in as a fearless soldier in the Gurkha regiment. Upon completing his Masters from Warwick University, Saurabh developed an appreciation for fine craftsmanship after working with the silversmiths in the jewellery quarters in Hockley, UK. He heightened this burgeoning design acumen with his time at the Warwick Manufacturing Group and the British European Design Group. Since relocating to India to join the family business in 2004, Saurabh continues to draw on his experience and focuses his attention towards combining traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques to create celebrated global designs. Saurabh s design philosophy has led to his creations being sold by leading lifestyle brands such as Harrods and Saks Fifth Avenue. Among some of his works is the Flamme collection, a series of eco-friendly fire gel that makes use of smokeless and soot-less bio fuel, while one of his largest commercial successes has been his modern take on the lantern: an oversized stainless steel lantern which has been sold in over 75 countries over the last decade. Saurabh embraces both the old and the new in his designs, bringing a classic yet modern touch to his work. He is passionate about creatively combining materials or crafting techniques and with ipse ipsa ipsum, he hopes to make unique handcrafted blends more accessible.

4 Nathan Yong Founder/Owner, nathanyongdesign Nathan Yong graduated from Temasek Polytechnic with a diploma in Industrial Design in He began his career not as a designer, but as a buyer as well as engaging in product development for various companies in Singapore. In 1999, Nathan started his first retail store called Air Division, selling his own creations made by Asian craftsmen. Air Division rapidly grew and claimed commercial success in both Singapore as well as the overseas market. Nathan subsequently sold Air Division and pursued a Master s degree from the University of New South Wales, Australia, from which he subsequently graduated with distinction in Master of Design. For two consecutive years (in 2006 & 2007), Nathan won the prestigious Red Dot Concept Design Award with his conceptual designs of a mass production coffin and a portable room heater. Subsequently, in 2008, Nathan received the prestigious Singapore President s Design Award; Designer of the Year, the highest honour accorded to designers from all creative disciplines in Singapore. His work is inspired by simple visual memories from everyday life, but pared down with the lightness of restraints. Instead of superfluous details, he captures the poetry of products through rigorous research and engineering, creating fresh styles and functions that fit effortlessly into the user s life. In the 2011 International King size supplement, INTERNI for Salone del Mobile, Nathan Yong was selected as the most promising Young Designers on the international scene. He was also invited to be on the jury panels for the President s Design Award in both 2011 and Currently based in Singapore, Nathan runs a multidisciplinary design consultancy practice. His work spans across industrial design, graphics, interior design, architectural design, strategic planning in product development and manufacturing processes as well as branding.

Udaipur Sofa Brass and Black Marble RRP: USD 3,500 Made with hand-forged solid stainless steel, the sofa is highly customisable, from the material used for the frame to the side tables that accompany it. Customers can choose from brass or nickel for the frame; white, green, or black marble for the side tables; and white or grey leather hides for adornment. Further customisation options include different components such as a lamp, table, mirror or a TV remote holder. 2. Alwar Dining Table Green Marble and Brass RRP: USD 3,950 The frame of this dining table is hand forged from solid stainless steel. The distinctive shape of the legs is inspired by Indian architecture. 3. Cambay Console Green Marble and Brass RRP: USD 2,950 Hand forged out of solid stainless steel. 4. Sangli Mirror with back shelves Antique Mirror with Crocodile Print Leather RRP: USD 2,250 Inspired by the aesthetics of old Indian mahals, or palaces, the mirror has been hand antiqued, giving it a natural aged look. The back shelving, made of natural crocodile print leather, serves as hidden storage for shoes and other accessories, making it perfect for use as an entrance or hallway mirror. Customers can choose between both black and green crocodile leather. 5. Jaipur Dining Chair Antique Brass with Crocodile Print Leather RRP: USD 400 A light and airy club chair that looks as if it is floating in the air. Made out of solid stainless steel, with an option of either black or green crocodile print leather. 6. Jaipur Armchair Antique Brass with Crocodile Print Leather RRP: USD 700 A light and airy club chair that looks as if it is floating in the air. Made out of solid stainless steel, with an option of either black or green crocodile print leather. 7. Mahal Standing Full Mirror Antique Brass RRP: USD 450 Inspired by the signature arches of Mughal architecture, this versatile mirror can be hung on the wall or used as a standing mirror. Customers can choose between a plain and an antique mirror finish. 8. Mahal Standing Half Mirror Antique Brass with White Marble Tray RRP: USD 450 The natural white marble tray that comes with this mirror can be used as a tray to hold various fashion accessories. Similar to the floor mirror, this mirror can come in either a plain or an antique mirror finish. 9. Mahal Hanging Mirror Antique Brass with White Marble Tray RRP: USD 350 Similar in style to the previous two mirrors, this particular variation is also made from hand-forged solid stainless steel strips. 10. Kotar Serving Tray Black Leather with Antique Brass Antique Mirror with Antique Brass RRP: USD 200 The design for these trays is inspired by the circular patterns found on the domes of Mughal-era buildings. The leather variation comes in either black or green crocodile print leather, while the mirror variation comes in either a plain or antique finish.

Solar Table Lamp Antique Brass with Hand-Cut Glass RRP: USD 275 Made out of mouth-blown glass that has been carefully hand cut to give off a beautiful amber hue, this solar table lamp is ideal for the environmentally friendly consumer. 12. Bikaner Aged Glass Lamp Antique Brass with Antiqued Glass RRP: USD 225 This glass lamp is hand antiqued to give it an authentic aged effect. 13. Taj Marble Tee Light Holder Antique Brass with White Marble Tray RRP: USD 195 Inspired by the wall alcoves in Indian architecture that is used to hold oil lamps, this tee light holder is made out of a solid piece of marble and brass. 14. Kochi Fruit Bowl Antique Brass with Marble RRP: USD 400 This unique fruit bowl draws inspiration from the dome of the tomb of Humayun, the second emperor of the Mughal Empire. The marble ball serves both an aesthetic and functional purpose, giving the bowl a distinctive look and holding it in place. The bowl can be customised to feature a gold, nickel or black finish. 15. Mahal Candle Antique Brass with Hand-Cut Glass The glass surrounding the candle has been hand-cut to increase the beauty of the hue that it gives off. 16. Nabha Make Up Desk Antique Brass with Green Marble and Black Crocodile Print Leather RRP: USD 2,950 This elegant vanity features a hidden jewellery stand behind its swivelling mirror and can be customised with either black or green crocodile leather and with either gold or nickel finish. 17. Maharaja Tall Sideboard Antique Brass with White Marble and Black Crocodile Print Leather RRP: USD 2,600 The inside of this sideboard is lined with luxurious Italian velvet while the sleek curves along its exterior have been carved directly into the wood. 18. Maharaja Long Sideboard Antique Brass with White Marble and Green Crocodile Print Leather RRP: USD 2,950 The solid steel structure of this long sideboard has been bent by hand, while the stone tops are made out of white Indian marble.
