14 Above Soane Console Sir John Soane, English architect and collector of antiquities brought stylized Neoclassic Empire to London. In his home, consoles displayed rare relics. His stylings predicted those of the 20th century in their clean, modern forms. Chameleon-like in nature, this console with its cast Pierre stone finish base and gadrooned edged top goes with any décor, and will be a classic statement in a contemporary or traditional room. W 42 D 16 H 35 Available in 591 finish only Biedermeier Console Empire styling ruled continental Europe by the end of Napoleon s reign, particularly in Vienna, where Europe s diplomats met in 1814 to ponder the future after Napoleon. Those diplomats carried the style known as Biedermeier (bieder- plain and meier - common German name) back home. This magnificent console has a rough planed alder top, a maple base and two hidden drawers. It might have been displayed in France, Germany or Russia with its stylized trestle base and stretcher. 18 Fontaine Entertainment Center Pierre-Francôis-Leonard Fontaine was partner of Percier, and together they were official architects to Napoleon. Fontaine was known for his dramatic decoration of surfaces with panels and pilasters. This Empire styled entertainment center features retractable doors which reveal space to accommodate a 38" rectangle HDTV, a 42" flat screen or a 36" conventional television.
