3 ABOUT SAFOMASI Safomasi is an award winning home and lifestyle brand creating unique illustrated homewares and accessories, handcrafted in India, that tell the story of their travels all over the world. Founded in December 2012 by British-Indian couple Sarah Fotheringham and Maninder Singh, their playful figurative prints are designed to evoke both memories and wanderlust, so the scenes in their patterns feel familiar to some and exotic to others. They aim to make pieces with a soul and a story, that are treasured for life and bring a small part of their colourful world into your home. Safomasi is based in New Delhi, India, although they like to jet off as often as possible to hunt for new design inspiration! 5 PRODUCT RANGE Living + Bedroom Safomasi s range of soft furnishings includes beautiful hand screenprinted and handmade cushions and quilts, woven and knitted throws and hand tufted and hand woven rugs. Only natural fabrics are used; 100% cotton, wool and cotton linen. Cushion covers, quilts and throws are reversible with distinctive prints on both sides so they can be styled in multiple ways.

6 Kitchen + Dining Safomasi s statement table cloths, table runners, placemats, dinner and cocktail napkins make table linen a talking point. They think that the kitchen should be a place for fun and colour too, and create oven gloves, pot holders and tea towel gift sets handprinted with original illustrated designs.

8 Fabrics Fabrics from select collections are available as fabrics by the metre for soft furnishings, drapery and upholstery.

9 COLLECTIONS Each Safomasi collection celebrates a journey to a different region. It begins with co-founders Sarah and Maninder travelling to a place, exploring the landscape and observing the culture to create a collection of designs that capture the essence of their personal travel experience.

10 KAPADOKYA COLLECTION Inspired by the dreamy landscape of Cappadocia in central Turkey where hot air balloons float over valleys of fairy chimneys, rock-cut cave houses, ranches and farms, and evil eye amulets hang to offer protection. In gorgeous colourful hues, the illustrated prints aim to express the magical landscape and the incredible experience of Sarah and Maninder s travels in the region. Inspired by Cappadocia, Turkey

12 TIGER SAFARI COLLECTION Inspired by adventures on safari in the National Parks of Madhya Pradesh, central India. At dawn and dusk, tourists in jeeps and on elephants set out to spot the big cats. 14 SALCOMBE COLLECTION Inspired the town of Salcombe on the south west coast of England, a beautiful spot where designer and co-founder Sarah s family have been holidaying for over 50 years. The playful prints reflect happy times rockpooling, sunbathing, walking along the coastal path and watching yachts race around the estuary. Inspired by Salcombe, UK

16 KAWAII COLLECTION Inspired by sketches and memories from travels in Japan, Safomasi s Kawaii Collection seeks to capture both the calm and traditional and the crazy and colourful side to the country. With a bold palette of cobalt blue, black, white, mustard and red, their illustrative prints feature Japanese garden landscapes, traditional textile patterns with a twist, flamboyantly-groomed poodles, sumo wrestlers, cherry blossom and more! 18 WOVEN KAWAII COLLECTION The Peace Hands, Crane and Festival designs from the Kawaii collection, re-interpreted on a jacquard loom to create a capsule collection of covetable 100% cotton woven throws and cushion covers. Versatile and reversible, each side of the textile can be used with the inverse of the design showing on the other side. 20 ALLEPPEY COLLECTION In gorgeous hues of fresh mint green, blue and coral, Safomasi s Alleppey collection transports you to the lush South Indian Keralan backwaters and beyond. With motifs of lungi-clad coconut pickers climbing palms, an aerial view of boats on the backwaters as seen by the coastal birds flying above, an intricate fishing net cast out into the blue and woven palm weaves, Western influences are infused with classic nautical stripe detailing to create a collection of tropical and playful prints. 22 PUSHKAR COLLECTION An interpretation of the colours and ornaments spotted at the Pushkar Camel Fair, from primped and preened camels to snappily dressed traders. A unique collection of distinctive, engaging and colourful prints trimmed with tassels and pom poms which reflect the decorations worn by the animals at the fair. Inspired by Pushkar, India Winner of the ELLE Decor International Design Award, India 2013 (Bedroom) for the Camel Traders design.

24 MITHAI COLLECTION Inspired by the hundreds of varieties of Indian sweets documented by Sarah on her travels across India, the mithai print features illustrations of 169 different sweets, printed by hand in 13 colours including final layer of metallic silver ink. Paired with candy stripes in pink, orange and yellow, the collection of cushions and quilts blends Indian and Western influences for a fun, fresh look. Inspired by India

26 PROCESS Safomasi believe in the beauty of handmade. Their intricate yet bold illustrated designs are brought to life by experienced and skilled artisans through various crafts including hand screen printing, hand quilting, hand weaving and hand tufting.

27 Hand screen printing Safomasi is most known for their hand screen printed fabrics. In this process each colour is printed separately by hand to slowly build up the design layer by layer. Safomasi designs are complex and often feature many colours, so this is a long process that requires a high level of precision.

28 Collections Quilting and Stitching Safomasi products are stitched in house by their talented team of tailors. They sometimes partner with local artisans too, for quilting and hand made trims. The pom poms in the Pushkar collection were made by Maninder s grandmother and friends in their village near Panipat, Haryana.

30 COLLABORATIONS Safomasi love collaborating on interesting projects. Recent collaborations include the interior of a taxi for Taxi Fabric and Architectural Digest India, a range of baby bedding and table linens for online retailer Indelust and upholstery for furniture studio Iqrup + Ritz.

31 THE STUDIO The Safomasi studio is a light, calm and creative space tucked away on an unpretentious South Delhi street. Home to their team of tailors, it doubles as a showroom, open by appointment.
