1 Population, Housing, and Employment Analysis Reviewed housing development patterns, trends, needs, affordability, and estimated employment and population capacity at full build out. Total 28,200 people could be accommodated in the current Secondary Plan Area (SPA) at full build-out. Total 56,200 people projected by 2031 in Area Subject to New Secondary Plan. Total 80,670 people at full build out in Area Subject to New Secondary Plan. Total 25,500 jobs at full build out.
2 Cultural Plan Input Ensures that culture and heritage is an integral part of the future vision for Brooklin. Recommended 4 Strategic Directions for future actions: 1. Support a Strong and Vital Downtown; 2. Ensure Responsive and Accessible Cultural Programs; 3. Increase Collaboration and Coordination of Activities; 4. Encourage Integrated Cultural Planning in the Town.
3 Stage One Overview and Policy Gap Analysis Considered past Brooklin-focused studies and public input. Summarized background studies. Reviewed existing policy framework and policy amendments. Identified areas where further policy detail or refinement is needed: Residential built form policies; Residential density policies; Retail and mixed use policies; Further detailed policies to implement draft amendments from the ongoing Official Plan review; Policies to direct built form in the Brooklin Major Central Area; and Policies to create a complete and healthy community, support walking, cycling and public transportation.
