Targeting jobs growth, economic activity and development in identified strategic and district centres focuses public and private infrastructure investment leading to better business, transport and employment outcomes. Providing more office space boosts knowledge-intensive industries which leads to economic growth through more international and local investment. postcode state importance_rate_jobs_growth open_comment_jobs_growth importance_rate_knowledge_intensive open_comment_knowledge_intensive 2195 NSW 5 I like the idea of big satellite centres in areas already bustling like Hurstville, Bankstown, Burwood, north Sydney, Chatswood, Bondi junction, Wolli creek, Alexandria that are all linked with a great network of public transport. Jobs, schools, Health, entertainment, green and sporting spaces. 3
Providing affordable space in the right locations for innovation hubs increases jobs in creative industries which strengthen our global participation and generate wealth. Supporting the growth of health and education super precincts fosters knowledge-intensive jobs and innovation which drives economic activity and improves health and education services. Further developing interna significantly contributes to th importance_rate_innovation_hubs open_comment_innovation_hubs importance_rate_health_education open_comment_health_education importance_rate_tourism 4 creative industries are also vital to engage our young people, I believe youth theatre kept me away from dangerous "boredom" activities as a teenager and sport did the same for my brother 5 New schools and hospitals are key to addressing population growth and creating the best future for Sydney. Sadly around our local area most schools are segregated same sex high schools which I think is a very bad model and limits possibilities and growth of our young adults 3
ational tourism and tourist assets boosts jobs and he economic growth of the Greater Sydney Region. Protecting land for employment and urban services such as distribution centres, council depots and household trades near where people live maintains easy access to essential services. 6 rban services such as distribution centres, council depots and household trades people live maintains easy access to essential services. Planning for freight and logistics activities improves the efficient distribution of goods to businesses and homes while managing traffic impacts. open_comment_improving_access importance_rate_freight_logistics open_comment_freight_logistics A great public transport system that runs efficiently and affordable so people can 3 Again if we focus on satellite hubs with distribution centres and great rail this travel to work is important. takes trucks off our suburban roads
Do you have further comments/suggestions/evidence we should consider when further developing initiatives for increasing the productivity of the districts? Delivering on housing supply targets goes towards meeting pent-up demand, home affordability and housing for key workers. long_comment_productivity importance_rate_housing_targets open_comment_housing_targets 5 But not at the sacrifice of communities, I believe that current developments that sprawl across the city are poorly thought out and planned, they do not offer all levels of housing affordability and we are seeing rents soar and families pushed out to Fairfield and the rise of homeless in places like Nowra and The outskirts of Newcastle I like the idea of big, bustling centres (as listed above)that provide a range of affordable and luxury apartments that offer a dynamic range of accomodation right at the heart of Jobs, hospitals, schools and economic centres
Preparing local or district housing strategies addresses the diverse range of accommodation needed to support our growing community including housing types and price points. Managing neighbourhood growth through high quality urban design, respecting character and good transport creates healthy, safe, inclusive places and community spirit. Co-locating complementary land uses such as shop helps people interact, improves the viability of pub multi-purp importance_rate_housing_strategies open_comment_housing_strategies importance_urban_design open_comment_urban_design importance_rate_complementary_land_uses 3 I don't understand what this means, I think we need to avoid over crowding our suburban streets as I do not think we have the infrastructure to deal with increased litter, rubbish, cars, services and we are already witnessing the devestating effects high density living on once residential streets is having in areas like Canterbury Bankstown where we are seeing a rise in theft and violence that was once not present on our quite residential streets 5 I think the rezoning entire suburbs to medium density has been a disaster and an example of greedy, poor town planning it has gold plated the pockets of developers without any thought or concern for the erosion of community. 3
ps, schools, child care, community and recreation blic transport, walking and cycling, and facilitates pose trips. Protecting and enhancing history, heritage, arts and culture retains local identity promotes diversity and a community s sense of belonging. open_comment_complementary_land_uses importance_rate_arts_culture open_comment_arts_culture I think this is a great model for town centres but is 5 a disaster for the suburban communities. The example is the small local pool where families talk to the people their children are learning to swim with as opposed to the large recreation centres where people do NOT interact at all
Sharing public and private community facilities and open spaces such as sports grounds and meeting rooms is a sustainable use of existing and future resources. Catering for existing and future demand for a full range of local services including child care, schools, health centres and aged care housing supports community needs. importance_rate_community_facilities open_comment_community_facilities importance_rate_local_services open_comment_local_services 5 We need new schools, new hospitals, new 3 aged care and child care facilities. Again I believe in large centres in already developed areas such as Bankstown city, Burwood City, Hurstville City, Chatswood City, North Sydney, Bondi Junction, Alexandria. Leave our suburbs alone the developers are gutting communities this crazed frenzy to turn every residential street into a 3-6 storey development with no spaces for children to play, ride bikes etc
Do you have further comments/suggestions/evidence we should consider when further developing initiatives for increasing the liveability of the districts? Creating a Green Grid by way of co healthier environment, improves liveability_comments importance_rate_green_grids I've got lots to say but not enough time to write it. 5
onnecting parks, bushland and other open spaces, and a Blue Grid of beaches, rivers and other waterways, promotes a s access to recreation, encourages socialising, supports walking and cycling connections and improves environmental resilience. Protecting biodiversity of flora and fauna supports environmental sustainability and visual landscapes which benefit amenity and tourism. open_comment_green_grids importance_rate_biodiversity open_comment_biodiversity 5
Protecting and enhancing green cover and shade trees reduces temperatures at ground level, provides animal habitat and enhances visual landscapes. More efficiently using water, energy, fuels and materials and improving the management of waste and recycling helps Greater Sydney become more sustainable and mitigates rising costs. importance_shade open_comment_shade importance_rate_water_energy_efficiency open_comment_water_energy_efficiency 5 5
Building resilience to environmental hazards such as flooding, urban heat islands and bushfires mitigates their financial, social and environmental impact on communities. Do you have further comments/suggestions/evidence we should consider when further developing initiatives for increasing the sustainability of the districts? Towards our Greater Sydney 2056 is a draft amendment to the current Greater Sydney Region Plan which will continue to be revised in Do you have any feedback on Towards our Greater Sydney 2056? How do you rate the plan? importance_rate_environmental_resilience open_comment_environmental_resilience sustainability_comments togs_comments rate_the_plan 3 I would like more consultation and engagement sessions...
