59 1 MARK THE AREA THAT IS TO BE PAVED. - Make sure you over mark the area 6 all of the way around. 2 EXCAVATE THE AREA THAT YOU HAVE MARKED. - Make sure you excavate uniformly to the desired depth. - You will need to take into account the depth of the pavers, the depth of the bedding sand, and the depth of the base. - Normal paver depth is 2-3/8, always check to make sure. - Bedding sand is usually 1. - Base aggregate is 6-8 for walkways and patios, for driveways and pool decks. 3 INSTALL THE BASE MATERIAL, WHICH IS TO BE 3/4 MINUS GRAVEL. - Be sure to compact every Make sure you take the slope into consideration. 4 INSTALL THE GATOREDGE RESTRAINT. - You will need this on the border of the paved surface to eliminate paver separation. - This product is needed on any soft edge, such as grass, mulch, crushed stone, etc. - Fasten the GatorEdge to the ground with 10 steel spikes every INSTALL A 1 LAYER OF COARSE CONCRETE SAND (MEETING ASTM C33) FOR YOUR BEDDING LAYER. - This will need to be screeded off uniformly. 6 INSTALL THE CONCRETE PAVERS WITH THE PATTERN THAT YOU CHOSE. - Perform cuts on the edge of the paved area as needed. 7 SWEEP SAND IN THE PAVER JOINTS AND COMPACT. - Repeat the procedure until the joints are full when finished compacting. 57

61 1 MARK THE AREA WHERE THE WALL WILL SIT. - Make sure you over mark the area 6 all of the way around. 2 EXCAVATE THE AREA THAT YOU HAVE MARKED. - Make sure you excavate uniformly to the desired depth. - You will need to take into account the depth of the base material and how much of the first coarse of wall block will be buried in the ground. - Base aggregate is normally 6-8 of 3/4 crushed stone. - Normally you will need to bury a full course of wall block or 1/8 the total height of the wall, whichever is greater. - Be sure to compact the subbase when the excavation is done. 3 INSTALL THE BASE MATERIAL, WHICH IS TO BE 3/4 CRUSHED STONE. - Make sure you compact every INSTALL THE FIRST COURSE OF RETAINING WALL BLOCK. - Make sure that they are completely level side to side and front to back. - The first course is the most important, if that is off level the rest of the wall will be. 5 PLACE A DRAIN PIPE BEHIND THE WALL IF NEEDED. - If the wall will have a lot of runoff, a drain pipe will be needed to divert the water. 6 PLACE ANY ADDED CONNECTION PIECES SUCH AS PINS OR CLIPS, IF NEEDED. 7 PLACE 3/4 CRUSHED STONE FROM THE FACE OF THE WALL BACK Make sure all voids and cores in the block are filled also. - This will help connect the wall. 8 REPEAT STEPS 4, 6, AND 7 FOR THE CONTINUING COURSES OF BLOCK. - Be sure to keep checking for level and make sure the block stay on line. 9 FINISH THE WALL BY USING GATORBLOCK ADHESIVE TO ATTACH THE COPING UNITS. Please note: These instructions are not accurate for walls taller than 3, terraced walls, walls that will have vehicles, buildings, etc. at the top of the wall, or sites with poor soil conditions and sites that have a slope at the top or base of the wall. 59

EFFLORESCENCE Gagne & Son makes every possible effort to protect pavers and walls against efflorescence by treating the material with an impregnating, hydro-phobic sealer. This is a sealer that repels water and will penetrate deeply enough into the material to keep water and dissolved salts well away from the surface. Efflorescence in most cases is a natural by product of cement hydration, and therefor not an indicator a substandard product. 63

66 LIFETIME WARRANTY Gagne & Son supports our Made In Maine concrete pavers and retaining walls with a Lifetime Warranty on the structural integrity of our product used in a residential setting. Material that is deemed defective will be replaced at no cost, labor will not be included. Gagne & Son has worked hard to provide uniform product, but color, texture, and finish of the replacement product may not match the original product. Proof of purchase is required.
