2 Why the need for a Municipal Network?
3 The Creation of a Network Western Golden Horseshoe Municipal Network (the Network) members include: Halton Region City of Hamilton Niagara Region Region of Peel Region of Waterloo
4 The Network approach is multi-disciplinary.
5 The Charter Approved by the Network municipalities in February The Network will advance common perspectives regarding the need for transportation infrastructure to create a more efficient and connected network for the movement of goods and people. The Network will be a leader in establishing and using cross-boundary, multi-governmental, multi-disciplinary partnerships to advocate for the infrastructure needed for the region (area), recognizing we are better working together.
6 Ultimate Goal The Network s ultimate goal is to see an integrated multi-modal transportation network established that: Maximizes the potential of air, rail and marine goods movement modes, Provides efficient connections to hubs, employment lands, and markets, Addresses projected highway capacity issues, Incorporates an inter-regional multi-modal transit network, Is planned and implemented in a manner that respects the importance of environmentally sensitive areas, and Is planned in a cooperative manner with active participation by municipal citizens, provincial and federal governments and interest groups including the private sector.
