6 Dear Members: Each year the president of the Martha Washington Garden Club has the opportunity to select a theme for the current year. After some reflection, the theme selected for the Martha Washington Garden Club Year 2016 is Cultivating Community. Each of us belongs to many communities our garden club, our local town, state, country, church, personal groups, etc. Our goal this year, and we hope you may adopt this goal, too, is to contribute in some way to the communities in which you/we all belong. How can we achieve this? As a garden club, we have opportunities to participate in events sponsored by our club. We can expand that as individuals into our communities, also. Throughout our booklet, we will give hints of ways to cultivate community. Within our group, we can brainstorm ways we can as groups or individuals achieve this. Getting involved in these activities is a win for us personally or as group, and a win for those we may be helping throughout our community. My hope is that this year The Martha Washington Garden Club will cultivate our many communities. Sandra Grilli
