7 Watsons Road Planning Inquiry 89 units, 2/3/4 storeys, car free Planning inquiry July 11, 2006 Planning Inspector turned down the developer in September: change of employment use not justified impact and overlooking into neighbouring properties and within the development itself What s happening now? rumours that Presentation Housing have another scheme in the wings 7 Residents demo 26 July 2005

25 Heartlands Northern Area New Secondary School Community school, 1100 pupils eventually, opening 2010 Conditions: agreement on playing fields in AP, and suitable access given railway line and reservoir Need to make sure inappropriate infrastructure not placed at Avenue Gardens Area marked for key landmark opportunities - 20 storey block Use of Alexandra Park as playing fields must not compromise the park public access, floodlights, artificial turf etc Need to watch for threats to Avenue Gardens itself or Wood Green Common from the school 10

26 Conservation Areas Consultation Consultation to 10 September Need to get Alexandra Primary School locally listed (at least) Appraisal detractors should be addressed (CA10 in quite good nick) 11

27 Sustainability Motion To formally endorse the founding statement of the Sustainable Haringey Network a network of local community groups and residents Our lives, our communities and our society should be sustainable for generations to come. We support the development of a Sustainable Haringey network. The network will promote and encourage: sustainable energy policies in all areas of society (including reduced general usage, and maximum use of renewable, non-fossil fuels and self-generated sources) reduced consumption and waste, and the maximum re-usage and recycling sustainable travel (including more walking and cycling, better public transport and less motorised traffic) local production of food and other necessary goods and services, and appropriate allocation and sharing of limited resources protection and improvements to green spaces and natural habitats strong local communities, community spirit and mutual aid decision-making i based on the maximum involvement of people, and on the long term needs of our communities and the environment 12
