With over 30 years experience, Distinction Group works with major hotel brands around the world. Based across four offices globally and with a long-established manufacturing operation in the far east, Distinction Group creates high quality products, all to european certificate standards, at very competitive prices.
Manufacturing Far East Distinction Group has been producing and manufacturing bespoke furniture in the Far East for over 10 years. Our Hong Kong quality control office is expertly placed to ensure that every piece produced meets the most stringent European standards and our own exacting specifications. The Far East office also coordinates all shipping and logistics to ensure each item of every project is correctly packaged and quality checked to arrive on time and according to the hotel installation schedule. Project Management Distinction Group offers a complete project management service from contract commencement. From the approval of shop drawings to the installation of furniture, our talented teams across the world manage the process professionally and smoothly. You can be sure that your FF&E order is in the hands of one of our knowledgeable and experienced project managers, allowing you to proceed with other aspects of your project. europe Distinction Group ensures that everything we manufacture is made by expert furniture makers with whom we have established and close relationships. As a result, we produce many of our items in Europe, using the same control and design processes we employ throughout the business. Case Study 1 Intercontinental Hotel O2 The riverside InterContinental London The O2 stands out in the buzzing Greenwich Peninsula, with 453 bedrooms and an iconic modern design. Spectacular Canary Wharf views are best enjoyed over cocktails in Eighteen Sky Bar, one of several dining destinations in the new hotel. Distinction worked closely with Arora Group to supply outstanding furniture to all bars and bedrooms throughout the development. We provided tables, chairs and armchairs for bars and communal areas as well as desk chairs, sofa beds and chaise longues for every one of the luxury bedrooms. Case Study 2 Fraser Suites Riyadh This 5 Star Fraser Suites apartment hotel is located in the bustling city of Riyadh; a stunning new building with a contemporary and stylish interior, making it a must-stay destination. Working with GM Architects in Beirut, Distinction Group was engaged to supply a full turn-key furnishing solution including casegoods, upholstery, lighting, artwork, curtains and all soft furnishings. All furnishings for the project were custom manufactured to Distinction s quality standards from original designs created by GM Architects.
case study 3 Viceroy dubai - PalM jumeirah located on the ultimate beachfront in one of the world s most desirable destinations, Viceroy Dubai palm Jumeirah offers 477 spacious guest rooms and suites as well as 222 residences, all with breathtaking views of the arabian Gulf. Distinction Group was approached by SKai Holdings to provide the majority of furniture for the development and were specifically tasked with bringing nao Taniyama s innovative design to life. Distinction Group worked closely with the developers to provide the hotel with a range of beautiful furnishings, casegoods, upholstery and outdoor furniture - over 14,000 items in all. case study 4 radisson blu - belgrade The radisson Blu old mill Hotel, Belgrade is centrally located in old Belgrade near the banks of the Sava river. it boasts 236 contemporary designed bedrooms and 14 impressive suites. Distinction Group worked with Graft, the leading hotel architects based in Germany and the USa, producing originally designed comfortable seating in the form of armchairs, desk chairs for the bedrooms, conference suite chairs, tables, rugs and lighting. The result is undoubtedly the most contemporary, creative new hotel in the region. The hotel opened in September 2014 to wide acclaim.
client base key people Mark Elliott Chief Executive Officer Mark founded Distinction in 1984 and has established the company as one of the largest and respected contract furniture manufacturers in the UK. Mark s education included a Law Degree at Oxford, followed by a Business Degree from American University, Washington, D.C. After working with Bechtel for a number of years as Project Inception Manager, Mark decided to start his own company and Distinction has gone from strength to strength ever since. Mark Coad Chief Operating Officer Mark started work in 1978 as an Apprentice Upholsterer and finished his Apprenticeship in 1984 as a Master Upholsterer. At Shaw Manufacturing he was a troubleshooter on their projects in pubs, clubs and night clubs to control standards in manufacturing and fitting. In 1998 Mark joined Distinction as Operations Manager. As COO he oversees production in the Far East and installation worldwide for many of the major hotel chains. Kersi Deboo Managing Director Kersi graduated in 1998 with a Degree in Three Dimensional Multi-Disciplinary Design from Brunel University, studying interior, furniture and product design, followed by an MA in Interior Design at De Montfort. Kersi has worked for Distinction for over a decade as a Project Manager and as a Design Manager, contributing to the success and growth of the company. Growing with Distinction, as Managing Director, Kersi is responsible for overseeing of the company s activities. Aldan Yiu General Manager Aldan has over 15 years in the furniture industy and in 2004 joined Distinction Group as the Director of our Hong Kong office. Aldan oversees Quality control of the manufacturing in China as well as shipping and logistics. Thomas ElliotT Business Development and Marketing Manager Thomas began his career in the technology sector working for companies such as Sky and DMGT. Having grown up around Distinction he has been involved in furniture from a young age and in 2015 joined the company to ensure its continued success. Thomas is responsible for Business Development and Marketing and is keen to tell the Distinction story to the world. Katherine RouX Projects Manager Having graduated with a Master s in Design from the Royal College of Art V&A in 2012, Katherine began her career at the Victoria and Albert museum as a research coordinator. With her eye for detail and interest in design, she was keen to join her father s company, becoming responsible for the Projects team, helping to create beautiful furniture for hotels, offices and residences around the world.
