Prevalence of root rot 2009: 38% of 144 pea fields 2010: 29% of 112 pea fields 2012: First definite confirmation of Aphanomyces 2013: Aphanomyces confirmed in 11 municipalities Dokken-Bouchard, Armstrong-Cho and colleagues, published in the Canadian Plant Disease Survey

Aphanomyces euteiches Belongs to the water moulds like Pythium Survival of oospores in the soil without a host for up to 20 years Is mobile (zoospores) and can move with the water No effective chemical controls to date
