FINAL ANNOUNCEMENT 12th International Conference on Open Magnetic Systems for Plasma Confinement (OS2018) August 27-31, 2018, Tsukuba, Japan Organization The 12th International Conference on Open Magnetic Systems for Plasma Confinement (OS2018) will be organized by Plasma Research Center, University of Tsukuba. The Conference will be held on August 27-31, 2018 at the University Hall of University of Tsukuba in Tsukuba Science City, Japan. International Program Committee Y. Nakashima (Chairperson, Japan), M. Plasma Confinement, Heating and Stability B. Transport Phenomena C. Direct Energy Conversion D. Plasma Diagnostics E. Plasma-wall Interaction F. Applications of Mirror Plasmas G. Mirror-Based 14 MeV Neutron Sources H. Prospects of Mirror-Based Reactors Oral and Poster Presentations The Provisional Conference Program includes Invited Plenary Lecture, Invited Review Lecture, Topical Lecture and Poster Presentation. The duration of the Oral Presentations (plus discussions) is scheduled to be Invited Plenary Lecture 30 min (+10 min), Invited Review Lecture 20 min (+10 min), Topical Lecture 15 min (+5 min). You can use your own PC or our Windows PC with Power Point and Acrobat. The format of the Poster will be 90 cm wide and 180 cm high. Audio and Visual Equipment The University Hall of University of Tsukuba will be equipped with video projectors. Requests for any other audio-visual equipment should be made to the Local Organization Committee (os2018@prc.tsukuba.ac.jp) in advance. Conference Language The working language of the Conference is English.

Publication of Abstract and Conference Proceedings Abstract book will be distributed to participants at the Conference by a USB-memory and at the web site. The total length of each full paper (Conference Proceeding) should be limited as follows: The Six-page Invited Plenary Lectures, Six-page Invited Review Lectures, and Four-page Topical Lectures and Poster Presentation will be published in the Plasma and Fusion Research (PFR, http://www.jspf.or.jp/pfr/index.html) which is an electronic journal published by the Japan Society of Plasma Science and Nuclear Fusion Research (JSPF) with permanent open access. The cost of this publication is included in the Registration Fee. The reprint fee is NOT included in the Registration Fee. The submitted papers will be reviewed after the Conference, and then tentatively scheduled to be published as the January 2019 issue of the journal. Final versions of all papers presented at the Conference and prepared in PDF (or PostScript) form must be submitted to the OS2018 proceedings submission web site until September 15. Registration and Registration Fee All Conference participants are required to pay a registration fee of 38,000 yen (25,000 yen for students) at the Conference Registration Desk. At the first day of the conference, Aug. 27, the registration desk will open at 15:00 at the 30 th Anniversary Hall of University Hall, and during the other conference days, it will open at 8:45 in front of the Conference Room. The registration fee covers: Abstracts (in electronic file), published Journal, Conference services including welcome reception, coffee and tea. Conference fee should be paid in cash only (Japanese yen only) at the registration desk (No credit cards will be acceptable.). Accommodation All participants and their accompanying persons will be accommodated in the hotel OKURA FRONTIER HOTEL TSUKUBA located in Tsukuba Center. Participants are highly recommended to book accommodation through the Hotel reservation web page (https://secure.reservation.jp/okurajalhotels/stay_pc/rsv/detail_plan_calendar.aspx?smp_id=220). In this case, special reduced rates are applicable. The reduced rate lasts at Aug. 5. Participants are strongly recommended to reserve the hotel before Aug. 5. The free shuttle bus service from the hotel to the Conference site is available. Social Program On Monday evening, Aug. 27, a Welcome Reception (16:00 17:45) whose fee is included in your registration fee will be held at the 30 th Anniversary Hall of University Hall. On Wednesday evening, Aug. 29, a Conference Banquet (18:00 21:00) is planned. The fee of 5,000 yen is required at the Conference Registration Desk. Accompanied persons are invited without further payments. The machine tour will be held after the Conference from 15:00 to 17:00 on Aug. 31. If you plan to attend the machine tour, please notify your name at the conference desk until Aug. 29. Travel to and from Tsukuba The Conference site locates at the center of the University of Tsukuba. It takes about 10 minutes ride by bus from the Tsukuba city center to Daigaku Kaikan Mae bus stop where is the nearest bus stop to the Conference site of University Hall. At the Tsukuba city center, there are the railway terminal of Tsukuba Station and the bus terminal of Tsukuba Center. It takes just 45 minutes from Akihabara Station (4 minutes from Japan Railway (JR) Tokyo Station via JR Yamanote Line) via Tsukuba Express: TX, or about 1 hour from the highway bus terminal at Tokyo Station (Yaesu South-Exit) via an express bus. This bus also goes to the Daigaku Kaikan Mae bus stop through the Tsukuba Center. From New Tokyo (Narita) International Airport to Tsukuba Center, it takes about 1 hour by an airport bus. Weather It is very hot and humidity during Summer and temperatures are often in the 35 degrees C.
