Case Studies
Silverstone United Technical College, UK Silverstone UTC is situated overlooking the track at the Silverstone racing circuit and specialises in high performance engineering and technical events management. The state of the art building was designed by HKS architects with Interserve appointed as the main contractor on the project. Interserve employed British Thornton to design, plan and supply the fitted and loose furniture packages for the facility. The project included a bespoke reception desk designed by British Thornton and included furniture for all areas of the building including laboratories, technology workshops, classrooms and meeting rooms.
Halifax Primary Academy, UK The Halifax Primary Academy was furnished throughout by British Thornton. Both fixed and loose furniture was provided for the new school, which forms the primary phase of Calderdale's first all-through school. Robin Dixon of AHR Architects of Leeds also commented on working with the British Thornton team from the early stages of the project, saying; "The upfront design service that British Thornton provided on this project was excellent". Jerudong International School, Brunei Jerudong International School is Brunei s leading boarding and day school. The furniture scheme for this brand new school was designed and planned by the British Thornton team. A project manager was appointed who oversaw the manufacture of the furniture at the factory in the UK and after packing and shipping, the project manager and a fitting team followed on to Brunei to install the furniture and equipment. Dover Court International School, Singapore Dover Court International School is a Nord Anglia Education School in Singapore, for pupils from age 3 to 16. The school has a continuous investment programme in their campus facilities to improve the learning experience and appointed British Thornton to manufacture and supply furniture for a refurbishment phase in 2015. Loose furniture from both the Trudy and standard British Thornton ranges were selected for the project. A range of fitted units was also required, and these were manufactured by British Thornton and shipped flat-packed for installation on site by a local team. Dover Court has further improvement and investment plans and British Thornton are working closely with the school on an ongoing basis.
