A two-way messaging platform to opt in or out of (see page 10 for more information) or optionally set automatic response preferences selected appliances and view your usage information remotely on the web and mobile application Automatically adjusts your cooling set point on your thermostat during a Xcel Energy Event Set up your EnergyHub My Account* via the Home Base: (completed during installation) From the Menu, tap the My Account icon The Home Base will guide you through the process You will then receive an email at the address you provided containing the remaining steps required to set up your EnergyHub My Account Upon completion, you will have an account you can use to access the IHD web portal at xcel.energyhub.net Sockets Honeywell Wireless Replaces your existing thermostat and controls your heating and air conditioning Displays current temperature, set temperature, fan status, hold status, heating and air conditioning operating mode Two Sockets Plugs into your existing 120v outlets (max 15 amps) Provides electricity use for individual devices, such as kitchen appliances, space heaters, TV s and computers (see page 7 for suggested devices) Wirelessly connects to Home Base Automatically turns off during Xcel Energy *Xcel Energy and EnergyHub both use the terminology My Account. The My Account icon on the EnergyHub Home Base is for EnergyHub My Account access and functionality only. To access your Xcel Energy My Account, visit xcelenergy.com/myaccount. 1 2
Schedule Heating and Cooling Once your EnergyHub account has been established, you will then need to set up your thermostat: From the Home Base Menu, tap the icon Home Base will guide you through the set up process Now you can perform the following actions directly from the Home Base and the IHD web portal: Sockets Now you are ready to schedule and control your thermostat from the Home Base: View real time, detailed information about your household energy usage Manually change the current temperature setting of your thermostat Schedule your thermostat settings View energy usage of appliances plugged into Sockets Sockets Turn Sockets on or off Mobile App From the Home Base Menu, tap the Schedule icon A mobile app is also available. Switch between At Home Home, Away and Goodnight for your thermostat and turn your Sockets on and off. Visit www.energyhub.com for more information and to upload the app. As part of the setup process, enter wake and return home times for the days of the week and weekend to control your thermostat set point automatically 3 4
Sockets Sockets To Schedule Sockets - Write the code down. You will be asked to enter it during set up - Plug the Socket into the outlet your have chosen - Plug your appliance into the Socket - Add the Socket by selecting the Hardware icon located on your Home Base and following the instructions How to move Sockets within your home Unplug the current appliance plugged into a Socket Move the Socket to its new location and plug into an outlet Plug a new appliance into the Socket On the Home Base tap the Hardware icon The Home Base will guide you through the process of updating the name of the name of the new appliance plugged into the Socket Moving or Plugging a Different Appliance into a Socket From the Home Base Menu, tap the Hardware icon Home Base will guide you through the installation process Locate the three-character code on the back of your Socket We suggest following the steps below each time you move a Socket and/or plug a new appliance into a Socket Step 1: Ensure your appliance will Switch Off during a Event From the Menu, tap the Peak Response Icon Sockets Now you are ready to schedule and control your Sockets from the Home Base or IHD web portal. Utilizing Sockets allows you to limit the operating time for appliances connected to them, resulting in energy savings throughout the day. For example, you can turn on your Sockets in the morning prior to work, turn them off when you leave for work at the press of a single button, and then turn them back on again just prior to returning home, eliminating the need to unplug devices from the wall to avoid phantom load. Tap Next Check to make sure the appliance is set to Switch Off. If Normal Operation is set, tap the Edit button to set the appliance to Switch Off during a Event. Step 2: Disconnect an Appliance- this will save the appliance information should you choose to connect it back to a Socket at another time 1. From the Menu, tap Appliances 2. Select your appliance Sockets At Home Mode Away Mode Goodnight Mode 3. Tap Settings 4. Tap Disconnect 5. Tap Continue 6. Tap Done Step 3: Add an Appliance 1. From the Menu, tap Appliances 2. Tap Add Appliance 3. Tap New Appliance 4. Choose type of appliance 5. Tap Next three times 6. Choose appropriate Socket and continue to follow prompts 7. Review Step 1 above to confirm appliance will switch off during a Event 5 6
Below is a list of devices suggested TO use in conjunction with a Socket: AV Equipment Computer Monitor Freezer (secondary)* Lighting Pool/Spa Pump (1 H.P. or less) Television Washing Machine Water Pump (for water feature or fountain- 1 H.P. or less) Window AC that should NEVER be plugged into Sockets include: Computer Modem or router DVR Medical devices Primary refrigerators/freezers where operation is required for life or safety measures (such as medical equipment and security alarms) EnergyHub Home Base unit Sockets are designed for appliances requiring 120V and should NOT be used for devices requiring 220V. *Only freezers located indoors or in basements should be plugged into the Sockets. This is to avoid potential damage to food when the Socket is turned off during a Event Sockets Sockets 7 8
As part of the SmartGridCity Device Pilot, you have agreed to participate in Xcel Energy. Device (IHD) participants have greater insight into their household electricity consumption and more control over energy usage. Additionally, these events are designed to help us learn more about electricity usage behavior and how technology can support better ways to serve you while reducing overall environmental impact. During a Event, Xcel Energy will remotely turn off your Sockets and adjust your thermostat + 5 degrees during summer months if your thermostat is in Cooling mode. If your central AC is not turned on then just your Sockets will be turned off during a Event. These events will occur a maximum of 15 times in a calendar year, typically when energy demand is at a critical peak between the hours of 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. will be conducted on the same day as a Peak Energy Event*. For more information on Peak Energy, visit xcelenergy.com/smartgridcity. You will receive an email alert at the address you provided during set up and an alert message on your Home Base the day before a Event is scheduled so you can plan ahead. If you wish to participate in a Event either: Tap the Save Energy button on the Home Base Energy Alert screen or Click Learn more on the IHD web portal alert. Then click Save Energy. Or do nothing and you will automatically be opted in to the event You can opt out of a Event on the Home Base or the IHD web portal. If you have questions or require assistance, call 1-877-887-3339. You can regain control of your thermostat during a Event once it has begun: On the Home Base tap on the Peak Event button (the Peak Event button refers to only and is not associated with Peak Energy ) Sockets If you are participating in a SmartGridCity Pricing Plan (Peak Plus Plan or Reduce--Use Rebate) your Peak Energy Event rates will remain in effect regardless if a Event is also in progress. The Event could have an additional positive impact on the price you pay or the rebate you receive for your electricity use. Sockets Or, on the IHD web portal, click on the Learn More button next to the Event announcement to view the Opt Out option If you do not Opt In or Opt Out of a Event, you will automatically be opted in to the Event once it begins Once you Opt Out of a Event you may not opt back in to the current Event 9 10
Sockets EnergyHub System Q. What if the Home Base doesn t respond when I tap the touch screen? A. Press the reset button on the bottom of the Home Base. If the problem persists, unplug you Home Base. After a few minutes, plug it in again. Q. What if the Home Base won t start up? A. Make sure the Home Base s power adapter is plugged securely into an outlet. If the plug is secure, unplug it and wait a few minutes before plugging it in and trying again. Q. What if the Home Base shows Wi-Fi Off as the Current Wi-Fi Connection? A. From the Wi-Fi Settings screen, tap Enable Wi-Fi to turn Wi-Fi on. Q. What if I don t see the name of my wireless network on the Home Base screen? A. Wait a few seconds for the Home Base to refresh the list of networks. If you still don t see your network, it may be out of range or not working properly. Try moving the Home Base closer to your wireless router. Check that your wireless router is working by trying to connect it to another device, such as a laptop or smart phone. Q. What if I can t connect to my wireless network? A. Make sure you ve selected the correct network and have typed in the network password correctly (if one is required). To see the password as you type it, select the Show password check box located under the password field. Q. What if the Home Base loses its wireless network connection or I see the message Home Base Connection Lost? A. Confirm that your wireless router is working properly and you are connected to the Internet. If you do not have an Internet connection you may need to reboot or contact your Internet provider for further assistance. If your wireless router is connected to your EnergyHub system, make sure your Home Base isn t set to a mode in which your router is configured to be switched off. If you re still having problems with your wireless network: From the Menu, tap the Wi-Fi icon. From the Wi-Fi settings screen, tap Disable Wi-Fi. Wait a few seconds then re-enable Wi-Fi by tapping Enable Wi-Fi. Resume the wireless connection process. Q. What if my appliance won t connect to the Home Base? A. Make sure your appliance is plugged in securely to an EnergyHub Socket. Check to see if your EnergyHub Socket is plugged securely into a wall outlet. If the problem persists, confirm that you have entered the correct three-character code from the back of your EnergyHub Socket into your Home Base during Hardware setup. Confirm that your appliance s power requirements fall within the range supported by your EnergyHub Sockets. You can do this by checking the appliance s user guide, or inspecting the appliance for a plate describing its technical specifications. Energy- Hub Sockets support appliances to a maximum of 15 amps. This typically includes larger appliances such as refrigerators and window air conditioners. WARNING: If your appliance exceeds the amperage supported by an EnergyHub Socket, do not connect it to your EnergyHub system. This poses an electrical hazard and could result in injury. Q. What if I m having trouble configuring the Home Base s mode and schedule settings? Sockets Q. What if I m not sure I m connected to my wireless network? A. From the Menu, tap the About icon. On the About screen, tap Wi-Fi. You should see the following information: IP address/wi-fi MAC address External IP address EnergyHub.com reachable: OK EDX Status: OK A. While editing your schedule, always tap Done before returning to the Menu. Home Base saves changes to your Schedule only after you have tapped Done. Remember: your Home Base will never automatically switch your appliances into Away or Goodnight mode. You must press the Away or Goodnight button to engage Away or Goodnight mode. But your thermostat while it does operate according to the same schedule as your appliances can be set up to switch automatically to Away or Goodnight mode. 11 12
