Anhydro Small Scale Plants SPX offers a comprehensive range of Anhydro Small Scale Plants within Spray Drying, Spin Flash Drying, Evaporation and Fluid Bed Drying. Anhydro Small Scale Plants are used worldwide by customers within the dairy, food, chemical, pharmaceutical, and environmental sectors for R&D purposes and small scale production. Over the years more than 1,200 small scale plants have been supplied by SPX. THE ANHYDRO SMALL SCALE PLANTS HAVE ALL BEEN DESIGNED TO PROVIDE: Typical Product Applications FLEXIBILITY Based on a modular design with a substantial number of optional items, which enable our customers to customize each plant to match their exact requirements. The small scale Anhydro evaporation and drying solutions offer the flexibility to produce a wide range of powders. SAFETY Safety for plant and personnel is a top priority in the design of Anhydro Small Scale Plants. All plants comply with the strictest factory standards and all spray dryers include protection against dust explosions as standard. PROCESS CONTROL Process control for easy, efficient, and safe operation as well as continuous monitoring of the process. All control systems for the Anhydro Small Scale Plants are based on an industrial PLC system with a soft-touch colour screen as the operator interface. EASY CLEANING/SANITARY DESIGN In order to increase the efficiency and reduce the downtime of the plant, Anhydro Small Scale Plants have been designed with emphasis on ease of cleaning and a sanitary design. Agglomerated Powders Multi stage drying combining spray drying with fluidized bed technology and fines return enables production of dust-free agglomerated powders. SCALABILITY With Anhydro Small Scale Plants being designed according to the same quality and process specifications as Anhydro large scale production plants, most process parameters can be transferred for upscalable results. CAPACITY Within the range of Anhydro Small Scale Plants, SPX currently offers: Single stage powder Single stage dryers enable production of single spherical particles. Small Scale Spray Dryers with capacities ranging from 1-500 kg/h water evaporation. Available in 3 different configurations: single stage, multi stage or closed circuit Small Scale Spin Flash Dryers with capacities ranging from 5-120 kg/h water evaporation Small Scale Evaporators with capacities ranging from 25-640 kg/h water evaporation Small Scale Fluid Bed Dryers with capacity of up to 100 kg/h Anhydro Dosing Systems (ADS) for injection of CO2 or Nitrogen into the feed line. 3

For multistage dryers, the basic plants are additionally equipped with Integrated Fluid Bed with separate air supply system, and Fines Return System for production of dust-free agglomerated powder. All plants are FAT tested in workshop and pre-wired in order to minimize installation time and meet our Plug-and-produce philosophy. All parts in contact with product are made in stainless steel, AISI 316. External parts, including support, platforms, ladders and railings, are made in stainless steel AISI 304. Some evaporators are available in two-effect version in order to minimize re-circulation, increase concentration range and provide a gentler heat treatment.
