Product Information Mega-Polisher Washing & Polishing Equipment Top cover Sliding door Infeed chute Drum drive belt Drum motor gearbox Brush motor gearbox Brush drive belt Synchronous belt Drum Brushes Drum brace cable Outfeed chute Outfeed gate General Information Product Overview What does a Mega-Polisher do? How does a Mega-Polisher work? What produce types can be used? When should you use a Mega-Polisher? Washes and polishes fresh produce to highest retailing standards. Produce travels through a rotating barrel, made up of rotating brush shafts. Produce is washed/polished as it makes contact with the rotating brushes and as it rubs against other produce. Carrots and other produce that needs a longer dwell time. To clean produce to a high level, ready for retail shelves. To handle produce that needs a high level of polishing. Page 1
General Information (cont.) Product Overview (cont.) What is the difference between a Mega Polisher and a Vege-Polisher? Where in a produce line, should a Mega Polisher be? What other equipment might be needed: Things that affect Mega Polisher performance: Produce Machine A Mega Polisher is twice the length of a standard Vege-Polisher TM. It has all the proven features of the Vege-Polisher TM, but produce has more contact time with the brushes. Place Mega Polisher before: Place Mega Polisher after: Water Recycling System. Drying or cooling equipment. Grading, sizing or inspection equipment. Bagging or other storage. Wet Hopper, Hedgehog, Barrel Washer or other dirt removing equipment. Conveyors or flume delivery. The Mega-Polisher can be supplied as part of a Mega-Polishing Solution. The system includes: Mega-Polisher, Water Recycling Base, Rotary Screen Filter and an Outfeed Elevator. For more information, see the Mega-Polishing System Product Information Document. Condition and type of produce. Amount of time produce spends travelling through the drum. Depth of produce in the machine. Speed of drum and brushes. Amount of water lubricating produce. A combination of fresh and recycled water is often used. Fresh water is used at the outfeed end, to give produce a final fresh rinse. Recycled water is used at the infeed end and centre of the machine to minimise fresh water usage. Recycled water can be taken from a Water Recycling System (or another part of your line) or you can use only fresh water if you like. Where is water supplied from? Page 2
How does it work? Brush rinse bar: Sprays water on brushes to help keep them clean. Water spray bars: Lubricate produce and flush away dirt/debris. Brush options: Wyma will recommend the best brush combination for you. Brush speed: Increase speed for more aggressive scrubbing. Drum speed: Increase speed for more agitation/mixing. Also reduces dwell time slightly. Outfeed gate position determines the level of produce in the machine. Higher produce level means longer polishing time and greater scrubbing action. Drum empty position. Page 3
