755TOTALTEST HFC (Yellow Tubes) MOISTURE TEST TOTALTEST INSTRUCTIONS HOW TO USE TOTALTEST FOR HFC REFRIGERANTS: Totaltest for HFC Refrigerants is currently approved for use with R410A only. PREPARATION FOR SAMPLING: 1. Allow unit to run at least 30 minutes. 2. Locate the low-side vapor service port on the air conditioning or heat pump unit. 3. Connect manifold gauges to system service valves. 4. Measure and record the vapor pressure of the system. Ensure that the system pressure is between 80 and 140 psig. 5. Backset service valve and remove vapor hose. 6. Attach Totaltest instrument to unit s vapor service port. 7. With unit still running: slightly open service valve to blow away residual oil or moisture from the Totaltest instrument. CAUTION: Liquid refrigerant or oil will distrort test results. 8. Proceed immediately with the next five steps under Measurement Procedure. MEASUREMENT PROCEDURE: 9. Remove test tube from pack. Note the direction of the arrow on the tube. 10. Break off tips of the test tubes, using one end of the pack with small hole provided for this purpose. IMPORTANT: Break off the tip with the G mark first. TUBE PERFORMANCE GUIDELINES CALIBRATION SCALE/TESTING TIMEs Use the following scales for the following refrigerants and suction pressures: Puron TM (R-410A) Test time: cooling time 90 sec Test time: heating mode TBD 1 80 psig 2 110 psig 3 140 psig INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS AND CORRECTIVE ACTION Stain length before line - Acceptable moisture. No action required. Stain length past time - Unacceptable moisture. Action required. Follow clean-up procedure A detailed inside the lid of the Totaltest2 case. NOTE: Chemical bed will turn from gold or yellow color to green stain. P1529 11. Immediately insert the tube securely against the O-ring in the tube holder, making sure that the arrow is pointing in the direction of flow. Start timing once tube is in place. 12. Place protective plastic shield over the tube and lock into place. P1530 13. At the end of recommended test time (see Tube Performance Guidelines section below), remove shield and tube from the holder. Seal the end of the tubes with the test tube caps. Wait 30 seconds before reading stain length to ensure proper reading. 14. Backseat service valve and detach tube holder from the unit. NOTE: Chemical bed will turn yellow color to green stain. P1531 If the length of the stain is in the area of the chart, then ACTION IS REQUIRED. If the length of the stain is the area of the chart, then NO ACTION IS REQUIRED.
