Safe Operating Procedures In order to avoid accidents or damage to the machine, operators should familiarize themselves with the operation of the equipment prior to using. Use care when transporting machine with a full tank on sloped floors. Do not raise filled tank. Thoroughly clean the exterior, tanks, hoses, and spreader bar after each use. Do not use the machine for any purpose other than floor stripping. Always use appropriate safety gear (i.e. safety glasses and rubber gloves) when mixing stripper solution. Always follow label instructions when mixing or using stripper. Wear stripping boots when spreading stripper solution. Do not overtighten retaining knobs on spreader bar. Knobs should be tightened enough to hold the bar in place while allowing the bar to break away if struck. Operating Instructions Filling 1. Make sure that the HydroStar is sitting level. Connect the hoses to the spreader bar. Make sure that the solution levers are in the OFF (full back) position. 2. Open the tank by twisting the tank lid one-quarter turn counter-clockwise and lifting off. 3. Fill the tank with stripper and water according to the label instructions. CAUTION: Wear appropriate safety gear (i.e. safety glasses and gloves) when working with stripper and stripper solution. 4. Replace the tank lid and lock by turning one-quarter turn clockwise. Applying Stripper 1. Move the machine to work area. 2. Lower the spreader bar extension. For smaller areas, you may use only half the spreader bar by leaving the extension in the raised position. 3. Lower the spreader bar assembly by pushing slightly down and forward on the foot pedal and allowing it to raise slowly. 4. Begin solution flow by moving the lever (or levers if using the extension bar) forward to the desired level. The lever on the right controls the right, or fixed, spreader. The lever on the left controls the left, or extension, spreader. 5. Walk slowly pulling the spreader behind you, allowing solution to cover the floor. CAUTION: Floors will be very slippery! Wear stripping boots and use extra caution when walking on floors that are covered in stripper solution. Stopping 1. Turn the levers to the OFF position. NOTE: Solution will continue to flow for 15-30 seconds after levers are moved to the OFF position. Allow sufficient time for the hoses and spreader bar to drain before moving the machine from the work area. 2. Raise the spreader bar by pushing the foot pedal down and slightly back to lock in place. 3. Thoroughly clean the tank, hoses, spreader bar and the entire exterior after each use. See Cleaning, page 4. 3
Maintenance Instructions Removing/Attaching the Spreader Bar 1. With the solution levers in the OFF position, disconnect the hoses from the spreader bar by grasping the hose collar and pulling firmly. 2. The spreader bar should pull away. If needed, slightly loosen the retaining knobs until the bar is released. Cleaning IMPORTANT! Clean the HydroStar thoroughly after each use. 1. Place the HydroStar in an appropriate area for draining, such as over a floor drain. 2. With the solution flow OFF, grasp the collar at the end of the RIGHT hose and pull firmly to detach from spreader bar. 3. Place the hose into a container or appropriate drain. CAUTION: Check label instructions before discarding left over stripper solution. Discard properly. 4. Move the RIGHT solution lever forward to begin solution flow. 5. When tank is empty, move lever back to OFF position. Replace hose. NOTE: Solution will continue to flow for 15-30 seconds after levers are moved to the OFF position. Allow sufficient time for the hose to drain if filling a container which will not hold all the remaining solution in the tank. 6. Open the tank by turning the lid one-quarter turn counter-clockwise and lifting. Rinse the inside and outside of the lid with hot water. 7. Rinse the inside of the tank thoroughly with hot water. A pressure washer may also be used. Move the solutions levers ON and OFF several times while rinsing the tank to open and close and clean the valves and hoses. 8. To access valves or clean the underside of the tank, raise the tank by lifting the fixed handle on the back of the tank. CAUTION: Do not lift the tank when it contains liquid. NOTE: When lowering the tank to its seated position, use care not to kink or crush hoses. 9. Place the fresh water hose or pressure washer into the hose receptacles on the spreader bar and rinse thoroughly. Be sure to rinse both sides and the exterior of the spreader bar. 10. Rinse the exterior of the spreader thoroughly with hot water. A pressure washer may also be used. 4

LIMITED WARRANTY HYDROSTAR TO QUALIFY FOR THIS WARRANTY: 1) Machine must be registered at the time of purchase on a form provided by Pioneer Eclipse Corporation. Your Pioneer Eclipse Distributor is responsible for the registration of your machine. Please cooperate with your distributor in supplying necessary information on the card. 2) The machine must have been purchased from Pioneer Eclipse or an authorized Pioneer Eclipse Distributor. 3) This warranty extends to the original purchaser only and is not transferable to subsequent owners. TIME PERIODS ONE (1) YEAR PARTS AND LABOR - Warranted for the forementioned time periods to be free from defects in material and workmanship from the date of purchase by the original owners. (See Exclusions.) EXCLUSIONS (Not Covered by Warranty) 1) Parts that fail through normal wear by reason of their characteristics (pads, brushes, belts, bumpers, skirting, or other consumable parts). 2) This warranty does not extend to parts affected by misuse, neglect, abuse or improper maintenance. All defective parts must be returned to the Distributor for credit. 3) Motors warranted by motor manufacturer. THE OBLIGATION OF PIONEER ECLIPSE CORPORATION 1) The obligation of Pioneer Eclipse under this warranty is limited to repairing or replacing, at its option, any part which is proven to be defective in material or workmanship under normal use for the applicable period stated above. 2) Warranty repairs will be made by your Pioneer Eclipse Distributor without charge for parts and labor. 3) Parts repaired or replaced under this warranty are warranted only during the balance of the original warranty period. All defective parts replaced under these warranties become the property of Pioneer Eclipse. WARRANTY SERVICE To obtain warranty service, take your machine and proof of purchase to any authorized Pioneer Eclipse Distributor, preferably to the distributor from whom the machine was purchased.
