Cable wiring Warning: this luminaire must be earthed. If there are only two (2) wires coming from your power supply it means that there is no earth. Under no circumstances should this metal luminare be wired to an unearthed circuit. Contact a qualified electrician to install a suitable earth facility. Connect the power cable to the terminal block of the product as follows: The live wire to "L" The neutral wire to "N" The earth wire of the power cable must be earthed to the light fitting. Installation 1. According to Fig.1 Fig, 1 Carefully mark on the wall and drill holes in the wall. Insert the wall plugs (F) into the holes.. Remove the two fixing nuts (C) and release the plastic mounting plate (A) from the unit. 2. According to Fig.2 Fig.2 Connect the mains supply cables to the terminal block per the following diagram (Fig.3). Ensure that connections are tight and no loose strands of wire are left out of the terminal block. Relocate the terminal block to the plastic mounting plate (A). Fig.3 Restore the unit by attaching the canopy through the bolts to the plastic mounting plate (A) and fastening the fixing nuts (C) to the screw bolts. The 3 Golden Rules for installation Choose a suitable location for instaling the post light, away from trees, hot ventilator ducts, street lighting and traffic, which may interfere with its operation. The PIR sensor works more effectively when aproached by walking across its detection range, rather than being appoached head on. The PIR Detects in a fan-shaped arc of approximately 120 for a distance up to 12 metres (depending on weather conditions and the mounting height). For the PIR to work at its best, the PIR should be crossed, not approached head-on. PIR Sensor setting Description Figure Function Test Mode TEST MODE Time Knob 1.Turn the Light control and the Time control anti-clockwise to the edge the TEST position.(figure A). 2.Turn on the wall switch. The lamp will turn on for about 10 seconds to warm up. Then it turns off. 3. Walk through the detection area. The lamp turns on when you move and turns off when you stop. Wait for the lamp to turn off before moving again to test the sensor. TIME ADJUSTMENT 1. Turn the TIME control knob to anitclockwise or clockwise direction to control how long the light stay on ( from about 5 seconds to 5 minutes). Light level Knob LIGHT LEVEL ADJUSTMENT What light level of environment the luminary will start operating when you set the sensor to Automatic Operation. 1) Turn the light control knob to " anticlockwise" edge position. Then slowly rotate the knob to "clockwise" direction until the light turns on. At this position the unit should become operative at approximately the same level of darkness each evening. Bulb Replacement 1. Switch off product (preferably, isolate at distribution board) and allow to cool (Caution: bulb gets hot in use). 2. Remove the diffuser (D) by turning anti-clockwise. 3. Remove failed bulb by grasping it firmly and twisting anticlockwise. 4. Obtain a new bulb, type E27, MAX 1 x 60 W (incandescence). Caution: Only use a bulb of the same type designation and shape, and of the same or lower Wattage. 5. Screw the bulb in firmly clockwise, taking care not to cross the threads. 6. Replace the diffuser (D) by turning clockwise. 7. Restore mains supply and switch on. Care and Use 1. Wipe clean with a soft dry cloth. Never use scourers, abrasives or chemical cleaners. Do not allow moisture to come into contact with electric parts. Do not clean with water jets (e.g. pressure washers). Disconnect power before cleaning. Important Electrical Changes Please Read. Changes to Building regulations As of 1 January 2005, changes to the Building Regulations affected domestic electrical installations in England and Wales. You don t need to be a qualified electrician to make changes to your home s electrical system, but the work must be done in accordance with the standards in the Regulations. You do not need to notify your Local Authority if you do minor electrical work such as:- replacing or repairing a socket, light or cable in any room adding extra spurs, sockets or lights to an existing circuit (except in a kitchen, bathroom or outdoors) adding lights to an outdoor wall on an existing circuit (provided there are no exposed outdoor connections, and the circuit is not extended from a kitchen/bathroom). However, the work must be done to the standards in the Wiring Regulations and you should consider having the work checked by a competent electrician to make sure it is safe. Before you start other electrical work such as:- adding new circuits to your existing installation any work (other than repairs / replacements) in a room where there is water (e.g. kitchen, bathroom, etc.) any work (other than repairs / replacements) outdoors (e.g. installing outdoor sockets, or non-pre-wired garden lighting etc.) you must notify your Local Authority Building Control Department, which has responsibility for ensuring the work is inspected and tested. Where you have any work done by an electrician who is a member of a competent person self-certification scheme, the electrician will be able to certify the work complies with the Regulations and you do not need to notify your Local Authority. We recommend that you make yourself aware of the Regulations before you undertake any work and if you require any clarification you should contact your Local Authority Building Control Department. Changes to Wiring Cable Colours in UK The IEE Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) have changed the colours in cable used for fixed wiring for all new electrical installations. The old and the new colours are shown in the table below. Core colour: OLD NEW LIVE Red Brown SWITCHED LIVE Red, or Black with red sleeve Brown, or Blue with brown sleeve NEUTRAL Black Blue EARTH Bare, with green/yellow Bare, with green/yellow sleeve sleeve (no change) 2-WAY SWITCHED LIVE Red, blue and yellow Brown, black and grey For new installations after 31 st March 2006, only the new colours are permitted. Where new cable is added to an existing installation of the old type, special precautions must be taken (including fixing a warning notice at the distribution board or consumer unit). When installing this product, please note therefore that you may encounter either of the above types of cable. If you are in any doubt whatsoever regarding the above, please consult a qualified electrician. SFD LTD BA22 8RT Page 7 of 7
