I-ECOHEAT FROM I-DESK SOLUTIONS A New Concept in Desk Design www.i-desk.co.uk
HEAT THE PERSON NOT THE ROOM THE HEATED DESK A NEW CONCEPT IN DESK DESIGN! Since the arrival of desks in the middle 17th Century the desk as we know it, a hard flat top or surface placed on legs or supports, has evolved very little over the years and is essentially the same today as it has always been, designed for a single purpose only. However, the modern desk as we know it is about to take a giant and radical evolutionary leap forward with the introduction of a heated desk from i-desk Solutions. The desk will no longer be just a piece of furniture to study and write at but an efficient heater to warm the occupant of the desk and the space around them! Think about the luxury and comfort of an underfloor heating system. Research by the Dutch research institute TNO (Dutch Organization for Applied Scientific Research) shows that contact heating through the wrists is the most efficient way to warm the body. If the undersides of the wrists are warm, the whole body will be warm. By working at a computer, for example, using the mouse, or writing, the wrists are placed on a cold desk top. Traditional heaters and radiators heat the room from the top down and are expensive to run, often noisy and unattractive. The heated desk from i-desk Solutions has an integrated heating element panel in the desk top that heats both the underside and surface of the desk producing spot radiant heating to the legs and hands of the user, specifically the wrists. Using similar technology to underfloor heating panels the heated desks use a fraction of the energy and power consumption experienced with conventional radiators and heaters. A heated desk when switched on draws approximately 60 watts of power compared to a normal radiator that can draw up to 3 Kilo watts.

HEATED DESK APPLICATIONS The i-heat desk will allow you to switch off and remove expensive radiators and heating systems as it offers an economical alternative heating system suitable across a wide range of industries including: Radiant heat can provide more than 50% savings on heating bills thanks to the efficient way it warms a classroom or office. Education classrooms, open study areas, libraries NHS offices, clinical rooms, reception areas Offices large or small including home. Portocabin offices and temporary sites Industrial units with offices Traditional radiators need to be heated to a high temperature in order to heat up a room effectively. Radiators we know are not the most effective way to heat a room or the individual. Radiators heat the air nearest them first, which is why rooms heated by radiators are prone to cold spots, meaning that the air feels cold in the middle of the room and very hot next to the radiators. Heat also rises so that radiators heat a room from the top down. Not ideal if you re sitting at a desk working! This usually results in opening a window above the radiator to bring some fresh air in, and there we go again, letting all that heat and energy paid to warm up the classroom or office escape out of the window. Radiant heat from below and above the desk provides spot heating and warmth for the individual. The temperature is controlled by the individual via a switch on the desk top and has a maximum temperature of 60 degrees Celsius. The heated desk uses less than 100 watts of power when it s on thereby consuming less energy, and keeping your energy bills far lower. To summarise, unlike traditional radiators which can make a room feel chilly at times and too hot at other times. Our innovative desk heating system does not overheat instead it achieves the desired temperature set by the user via a desk mounted thermostat. Radiant heat is also much better for classroom and office air quality as it keeps the air fresh and oxygen-rich. High temperatures caused by radiators increase discomfort and reduce oxygen levels. The thermal circulation from air rising to the ceiling and then back down gets all the dust particles circulating which is not great for your respiratory system particularly those with asthma and other similar respiratory conditions.
WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY In my quest to find perfect office desk, I have over the last few years searched stores up and down the UK, looked tirelessly online and even explored options whilst overseas on business trips. I just couldn t seem to find the illusive desk that would meet my requirements. I was at the point of giving up and going with a bog standard desk from a well-known UK wide department store. However, mid 2017 I came across an article in a magazine advertising a new kind of desk and one I had never really seen without the massive price tag. Give or take a tweak here and there it was almost exactly what I was looking for, needless to say I didn t hesitate to contact the company. With the assistance of Nat, who from the moment I met her was a very pleasant, professional and extremely helpful, to then meeting with the Inventor and Director Steve Brooks a few weeks later, they helped design my ideal desk. Finally, I had found a company who was not only willing to help design and create the desk that for so long I thought was out of my reach, but to also making it a reality! The end was result was a 63 x 29.5 height adjustable desk, controlled by a Linak desk panel to auto set and adjust the height, a plug/usb connection on the desk and a spacious soft close drawer. But for me the icing on the cake was that the desk which is made of a material called Hi-Mac (a material that is hard wearing and extremely repellent to stains and it therefore very easy to keep clean and look after) has been customised to enclose a subtle heating element under the top of the desk, invisible to the eye and which is controlled by a normal thermostat that is sunken flush into the desk top, pure luxury. I believe I am correct in saying that at the time of designing this desk it was the first heated desktop outside of i-desk. This design is genuinely a feat of great engineering by i-desk, and I now have a desk that I always wanted and one that is the envy of everyone that has seen it (and I have shown it off may times). Throughout the process I always felt that I was in very good hands, and absolutely nothing seemed too much trouble (and there were a few changes from me along the way). I really cannot recommend Steve s his team at idesk highly enough, a real above and beyond effort from all.
