HOW IT WORKS 1. TRANSPORT TO CHAMBER Bulk material is loaded either from a factory conveyor belt, frontend loader or directly offloaded from a lorry. Material is transported from the feeding table by an elevator into a compression chamber using a robust chained conveyor system with steel carriers. 2. COMPRESSION Two specially designed belts inside the chamber prevent all kinds of spillage. Hardox steel plates on both sides of the compression chamber prevent wear and tear. High quality automatically lubricated bushings prevent dust and moisture damage. Simple replacement and maintenance. 3. WIDE FILM WRAPPING Initially, the bales are wrapped in wide film to allow the bales to maintain their shape and density. An air pressure cleaning system ensures high quality operation at all times. 4. WRAPPING 1 2 3 4 A predefined number of layers of film seals the material in a compact bale on the wrapping table, maximizing the storage and handling potential. This makes removing the wrap both easy and problem free, as there are no metal bands or netting to get stuck in machinery components. EFFICIENT LOGISTICS IN UNIT PACKAGES Baling is a clean and efficient way to handle bulk material. It enables the material to be compacted into unit packages, thereby simplifying logistics for a smoother workflow. The Hi-X reduces the volume of almost any bulk material up to three times, which gives the ability to store more in less space and to transport more in each transport. Storage is made easier by the possibility of stacking bales vertically, as much as eight bales high, for example in pyramid shaped stacks or rows. The Orkel bale size is optimized for loading of bales into lorries, containers (44 units in 40ft container), ships or similar. CLEAN AND SIMPLIFIED STORAGE The Hi-X Compactor transforms bulk materials into easy-to-handle round bales, using nothing but plastic wrapping. The clean and tight packaging of bales makes them possible to transport in containers or any other means of transport, without mess or loss. The air- and waterproof plastic wrap prevent spillage and damage caused by moisture or leakage. Any odor problems are minimized. Thereby the possibility to store bales in open air makes storage houses unnecessary. PRESERVING OUTSTANDING QUALITY The Orkel bales conserve their content very well, keeping a high stability of the content. This is due to the tight wrapping together with the fact that virtually all oxygen is pressed out of the material during the compaction process. No oxygen is left in the material and no oxygen gets in. What began as a modest production of small toys and tricycles for local customers, has now become a global supplier of high quality machinery. NORWEGIAN CRAFTSMANSHIP SINCE 1949 In 1949, at the age of 27, the Norwegian welder, Johan Gjønnes, invested in a welding machine. The intention was to make a living out of repairing sledges and bicycles for neighbours and acquaintances. In a small smokehouse in Fannrem, around 45 kilometers southwest of Trondheim, he gradually developed the business into production of toys, tricycles and simple hand carriages for agriculture. INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS BASED ON EXPERIENCE In the 60s and 70s, the production of agriculture oriented equipment increased, and as the wheels turned faster, more employees got involved in the production. Since most of the workers came from farms or had their background in farming, the development of new products were based on broad practical experience and a flair for the users needs. FROM COUNTRYSIDE WORKSHOP TO GLOBAL BRAND Soon, Orkel became an established brand, known for its reliable quality. In 1986 the first Orkel baler was invented, and with the round grass bales, Orkel really got the worlds attention.
