ATTACHMENT 2 Major Revisions This standard adopts the IEC text with national differences and is published as an equivalent standard for CSA and UL. The IEC 60950-1 second edition is a major revision of the IEC 60950-1 first edition. The change are summarized in Annex BB.1 of the standard, in the form of a Change table to correlate the clause number changes between editions, and in Annex BB.2 of the standard, which list the principal changes in this IEC second edition. The CSA 60950-1 second edition modified the IEC 60950-1 second edition to include Canada and US national differences. As in the CSA 60950-1 first edition, these changes are identified by underlines or strikeouts with deviation codes to indicate the type of changes (see CSA 60590-1 General section for details of these codes). ATTACHMENT 3 Background and Rationale The CAN/CSA 60950-1-07, Information Technology Equipment Safety Part 1: General Requirement is published on March 27, 2007. This is a common CSA and UL Standard for Information Technology Equipment and is the second edition of CSA/CSA C22.2 No 60950-1 (also known as CSA C22.2 No 60950-1-07) and the second edition of UL 60950-1 (a.k.a. ANSI/UL 60950-1-07). This standard is based on the IEC 60950-1, second edition. This standard was reviewed by the CSA Subcommittee on Safety of Electronic Equipment within the Field of Audio/Video, Information, and Communication Technology, under the jurisdiction of the CSA Technical Committee on Consumer and Commercial Products and the CSA Strategic Steering Committee on Requirements for Electrical Safety, and has been formally approved by the CSA Technical Committee. This standard has been approved as a National Standard of Canada by the Council of Canada, and has been approved as by the American National Institute (ANSI) as an American National Standard.
