Accessible Route: a. Are you providing an accessible route from the street, parking area, all features of the complex, and throughout the dwelling unit? 1104.0 b. Are you providing an accessible route through all rooms and spaces that are available to the general public? (Exception: basements & attics) 1107.4.2 c. If you are providing recreational facilities, is at least 25 percent of each type in each group of such facilities accessible? 1107.4.4 2. Accessible parking: a. Tempered glass doors without stiles and having a bottom rail or shoe with the top edge tapered at no less than 60 degrees from the horizontal shall not be required to meet the 10 inch bottom rail height requirement. 3. Doors that do not extend to within 10 inches of the floor. h. If there is a vision light in the door or a side lite adjacent to the door, is at least one glazed panel installed so that its bottom is 43" max. above the floor or ground? 404.2.10 Exception: Vision lites with the lowest part more than 66 inches above the floor are not required to comply with Section 404.2.10 9. Ramps in an Accessible Route (complying with 405.1) Is every walking surface (on an accessible route and having a running slope steeper than 1:20) stable, firm, slip-resistant, or carpeted per Section 302.2? 1003.6 / 405 Slope: Does the ramp run have a running slope not steeper than 1:12? EXCEPTION: Ramps in or on existing buildings or facilities shall be permitted to have slopes steeper than 1:12 complying with Table 405.2 where such slopes are necessitated by space limitations Cross Slope: Is the cross slope of the ramp no steeper than 1:48? 405.2/.3 Clear Width: Is the clear width of a ramp run 36 inches minimum? Where handrails are provided on the ramp run, the clear width shall be measured between the handrails. 405.5 Rise: Is the rise for any ramp run 30 inches maximum? Landings: Do ramps have landings at bottom and top of each run? Slope: Do landings have a slope not steeper than 1:48 and comply with Sec.302? Width: Is the clear width of landings at least as wide as the widest ramp run leading to the landing? Length: Is the landing length 60 inches minimum clear? Change in Direction: Do ramps that change direction at landings have a 60 inch minimum by 60 inch minimum landing? The turning space in a circular space must have a 60 inch minimum diameter. The turning space shall be permitted to include knee and toe clearance complying with Section 306. Handrails: Do ramps with a rise greater than 6 inches have handrails complying with Section 505? Are handrails positioned so as not to reduce the required clearances of a ramp run or landing? ** Connecticut Amendment of Section 505.1 Handrails shall be provided in accordance with the requirements of the 2003 International Building Code portion of the 2005 State Building Code. Extended Floor or Ground Surface: Does the floor or ground surface of the ramp run or landing extend 12 inches minimum beyond the inside face of a railing complying with Section 505? One receptacle outlet shall not be required to comply with Section 309 where all of the following conditions are met: (a) The receptacle outlet is above a length of countertop that is uninterrupted by a sink or appliance; (b) At least one receptacle outlet complying with Section 1002.9 is provided for that length of countertop; and (c) All other receptacle outlets provided for the length of countertop comply with Section 1002.9 3. Floor receptacle outlets. 4. HVAC diffusers. 5. Controls mounted on ceiling fans. 6. User controls for security or inercom 12 Laundry Equipment: a. Does a clear floor space comply with Section 305, positioned for parallel approach, and is the clear floor space centered to the appliance? b. Do operable parts, including doors, lint screens, detergent and bleach compartments, comply with Section 309? c. Do the top loading machines have a door to laundry compartment height of 36 inches maximum above the floor? Or do the front loading machines have the bottom of the opening to the laundry compartment 15 inches minimum and 34 inches maximum above the floor? 13 Bathrooms: a. Do all bathrooms provide the required clear floor space for every fixture? (Clear floor space and chair turning space are permitted to overlap.) 1003.10 611 1003.11 1003.11.3 b. (Reinforcing should permit future grab bars to have the structural strength to permit forces of 250 pounds applied at any point.) Exception: Reinforcement is not required in a room containing only a lavatory and a water closet provided the room does not contain the only lavatory or water closet on the accessible level of the dwelling unit. 1003.11.4 604.5 607.4 608.3 608.4 j.
