siclaro membrane filters 8 The mean pore diameter of the membranes is only thirtyfive millionths of a millimetre (0.000035 mm). 7 In comparison, the diameter of an enteric bacteria (E-Coli) is approx. one thousandth of a millimetre (0.001 mm), so that the siclaro membrane represents an impassable barrier for these bacteria. 9 10 The ultra-filtration membrane used for wastewater treatment physically separates smallest particles down to colloids from liquids on the basis of its defined pore size (<0.1 µm). The membrane holds these substances back without changing them either physically or chemically. This means that dangerous substances cannot even be produced. We utilise user-friendly flat membranes made of organic polymers which, in combination with the sophisticated filter design, effectively prevent clogging of the filter due to hairs, fibres or other unhygienic coarse matter. Wastewater Collection Vacuum Systems and Grey Water Lifting Units MSV 800 WVSP 2R70 Vacuum Systems MSV & WVSP Martin Membrane Systems offers two types of vacuum systems as well as equipment for the collection of black and partly grey water. MSV systems are based on vacuum collection tank including mainly dual vacuum and discharge pumps providing an excellent vacuum performance, especially at simultaneous use. Various sizes and designs are available. WVSP system consists of one or more screw type vacuum pumps with an integrated macerator on the same shaft generating vacuum. Applications require less space as only a small holding tank with no vacuum is included for each pump. Protection of the pumps is enabled with an integrated metal/solids trap. Grey Water Lifting Units Our Grey Water Lifting Units are designed according to the available space and weight limitations as well as the connected grey water drains. Depending on the necessary transfer capacity either one or two pumps can be connected to the respective unit. The units are made from stainless steel or plastic. Mechanical Pre-treatment Mechanical Pre-treatment Units BMA 45N with RA350-600 RA 350-1000 Fine Screen RA Hairs, fibrous materials, etc. can form unwanted agglomerations and block/clog equipment and the membrane bioreactor and therefore have to be separated from the receiving wastewater to ensure the plant s safe and low-maintenance operation. The fine screen combines a vertical strainer with screenings washer that returns the organic contents of the screenings to the biologic treatment as carbon source. The separated solid matter can be sucked off directly from the tank with a suction vehicle. As option the solids can be dewatered in a screw press and packed. Mechanical Pre-treatment RAB For bigger applications MARTIN is working together with well-known and experienced companies for highly efficient pre-treatment solutions. Separation of the solids is done by a filter mesh which is transporting the screenings and enabling a thickening process within the fully enclosed system. The free-standing and fully closed system allows for an easy integration for refit projects without any smell pollution during operation. The separated solids can be bagged or transferred for further processing. Food Waste Systems Feeding Stations Food Waste Vacuum Systems Food Shredder Disposer (Leftovers) MFWS Food Shredder (Food Preparation) The food shredder is designed for the disposal of food waste from the preparation area. The food residues from preparation are fed into a filling opening and shredded by means of a twin-shaft grinder. The residues are not macerated! Thanks to cutting units of different sizes and speeds, the cutterbar rotors are self-cleaning. The shredded waste falls into the discharge tank and is transferred to the food waste collecting tank (MFWS) by means of compressed air or vacuum. Disposer (Leftovers) Disposers are used in galley areas for the leftovers from the plates. Food waste will be pulped to small parts and enters by passing through an electric actuated valve to the slurry pipe. Easy handling is saving time and space in the galley areas, as the waste is transported via vacuum to the waste area. No need to transport waste by hand. MFWS Food waste tank 5 m³ with vacuum pumps and discharge or circulation pumps. Food Waste Vacuum Systems MFWS Food waste treatment is a very important task onboard of cruise vessels. A daily input of 0,8 2 kg per person and day have to be processed, but high food waste quantities affect the performance of the wastewater system. Our food waste systems are easy to use and require minimal maintenance. The food waste systems consist of one or more feeding stations (food shredder and disposer) and a holding tank (capacity 3, 5, 10 or 15 m³). The food waste is macerated and transferred to the holding tank via vacuum or compressed air, requiring only small pipe diameter and less flushing water. Optional a skimmer for dewatering can be installed if sewage systems has sufficient capacity. The holding tank can also be used as an upstream stage for further bio waste processing.
Galley Water Treatment Grease traps and Flotation units MGS 500 MSF 600 Grease Separator (MGS) Grease can lead to blockages in piping systems and aggregates and can even lead to plant failures. Therefore the use of grease separators or flotation systems is essential. The grease separator is designed for smaller application, such as yachts and offshore platforms, removing fats, oil and grease statically. Automatic sludge removal from the grease separator is included in our systems as well as heating elements. Flotation Systems MSF The Flotation System is designed for the quick removal of fats, oil and grease from the galley water. Finest air bubbles float the grease to the top of the Flotator, while the treated water is dischared from the bottom of the unit. The flotation systems work fully automated and achieve much higher removal rates than static grease separators. Different system designs are available with the flotation based on batch operation, continuous flow and with flocculant dosing. Grease separators MGS Type Capacity ADF Persons m 3 /d Approx. Sludge Handling Equipment Sludge Silo, Dewatering Unit, Disintegration, Dryer Dewatering Unit Sludge Silo Sludge Silo Designed for the storage of dewatered bio sludge with a DS of 15 to 25%. Size is based on the necessary sea endurance and storage time. Moving bottom and divided feeding solution installed to achieve the maximum storage capacity avoiding building of bridges. Discharge of the sludge is done via pressure pump or screw conveyor to shore connection or to drying system. Dewatering unit For the dewatering of sewage sludge (primary and excess sludge) and/or sludge from the food waste processing, MAR- TIN Membrane Systems offers various dewatering processes for thickening. Decanters or screw presses with dewatering degrees of up 25% DS are preferred. The sludge can be collected in containers/barrels or in a Sludge silo. The transfer and discharge takes place with pressure pumps.
Disintegration Press dryer type 508 with 500 kg/d DS Disintegration With our sewage sludge disintegration, the excess sludge can be dewatered. In addition, stabilizing and degrading processes lead to further minimization of sewage sludge. The sludge remains pumpable for delivery ashore. The system is scalable in size and flow. It is availabe as prefabricated skid. Alternatively, the equipment can also be installed in ship tanks. Long discharge intervals can be achieved by using the disintegration system. Dryer Press-dryer for dewatering and drying from wastewater treatment sludge, consist of a dewatering unit (decanter or screw press type) and a condensate belt dryer built in a very compact design. Our dryers operate continuously at a low-temperature of less than 40 C and consequently have a small energy consumption and no high back load to the wastewater treatment system. Beyond that, the system does not emit any odor nuisance. The drying capacity can be easily adapted to different sizes. The dryers do not require any steam for processing. Inlet concentration only needs to be higher than 0,5 % DS to achieve a product of 90 % DS. The systems are easily scalable and can therefore be adapted to any system size. www.martin-systems.com
