SET WITHIN THE FORMER BOTANICAL GARDENS
Beautiful architecture and sympathetic restoration in harmony Bracken Hill is an extraordinary development of houses and apartments situated in Leigh Woods, with easy access to the centre of Bristol. Unique may be an over used word in property marketing, but it s hard to find a better description for living within the former historic Botanical Gardens. Bracken Hill House, The Coach House and The Lodge House will be sympathetically restored and converted into beautiful houses and apartments with the classical features retained for new owners to enjoy. The Walled Garden Houses are a pair of four bedroom homes set in their own private gardens. Overton Court consists of six magnificent new five and six bedroom homes thoughtfully designed to complement the existing architecture. Bracken Hill House
Living within the beauty of the old Botanical Gardens In 1886 Bracken Hill House was built for Walter Melville Wills, grandson of Henry Overton Wills, who founded the tobacco firm WD & HO Wills. To complement the exquisite architecture the estate was created with beautiful Victorian pleasure gardens including rock gardens designed by the Pulhams, whose famous work includes the Royal residences of Sandringham and Buckingham Palace. In 1959 the grounds were made home to the University of Bristol Botanical Gardens. In 2005 the University plants, shrubs and trees were moved to a new site in Stoke Bishop. With careful nurturing from the resident gardener the Victorian ornamental grounds have now been expertly restored. Within the grounds you will find a beautiful selection of flowers, plants and trees including the rare and endangered Sorbus. The stunning borders and rock gardens offer areas teeming with year round colour. Established trees include mulberry, rowan and copper beech. An elegant lily pond sits quietly behind Coach House Mews. Our England is a garden that is full of stately views; of borders, beds and shrubberies and lawns and avenues, with statues on the terraces and peacocks strutting by; but the Glory of the Garden lies in more than meets the eye.
