Why to decide on a Rotorcomp compact unit screw compressor Advantages of screw compressors versus piston compressors Advantages of compact units versus air ends 12.11.2008
Screw Compressors vs. Piston Compressors 1. Oil flooded screw compressors are quite simple and robust designed. Screw compressors do not have many moving parts such as compressor chamber suction and discharge valves in reciprocating compressors. Screw compressors with less moving parts have less downtime, less spares usage, and less maintenance resulting in lower lifetime costs. 2. Oil flooded screw compressors transfer most of the heat of compression to the oil, allowing for low operating temperatures resulting in longer machine life and higher reliability. 3. Screw compressors do not require special foundations or pulsation dampers or silencers like reciprocating compressors resulting in lower installation costs. 4. Oil flooded screw compressors is usually more efficient per kw, they deliver a continuously higher* and cleaner** pressured air than a single stage piston compressor is able to deliver. Finally, rotary screw compressors have taken over nearly all of the standard plant air 100-190 psig market above 5 hp and the world-wide replacement of piston type is going on. * Rotorcomp starts with 5.5 kw (7 HP), 0.6 m³/min (600 l/min) at 10 bar (145 psig) ** approx. 2 PPM up to 3 PPM due to the filter cartridge after the compressing process Page 2

Air End Compressor vs. Compact Unit Compressor Air End Variable System Integrable in existing systems Compact Unit Compact system Most of the required components included Low installation costs Utmost safe compressor Less space is needed e.g. separator tank is already included Less engineering is needed Less man power is needed for assembly, purchasing, etc. Page 6
Advantages of Compact Unit Air Compressors Compact Unit Air Compressors are: Simple and very robust designed Very compact designed, saves space in the housing, which reduces the size of the housing Separator tank is already engineered into the compact design, which saves space and it is an utmost save compact air end Easy and quick assembly into customer compressor housing, means saving manpower and saves time in customer assembly Compact unit is tested, means it is an utmost safe compact package with less oil / air leakages Less purchasing time is needed for buying one unit instead of many single components Reduced number of components in the stock saves money Finally, with the Compact Unit Air Compressor we offer an inexpensive, tailor-made and reliable solution for our world-wide customer s.
