Update Computer Lab CONCERNS: A half wall exists that separates the lab and prevents students from seeing teacher work and/or direction that is projected Fixed counters prevent flexible grouping SOLUTIONS: Remove the half wall Remove all counters Purchase mobile desks BENEFITS: A flexible learning environment would align with our 21C mission benefiting ALL students K 5

Update Classroom Furniture CONCERNS: Safety and health concerns: Drawers in desks fall out and can injure students Heavy chairs make it difficult for primary students to lift and move Stacking chairs on the desks prevent nightly disinfecting of desktops Chairs do not stack straight up, preventing proper carpet cleaning Heavy and bulky furniture make it difficult to create flexible learning environments: Rubber bottoms do not allow for smooth movement of chairs on the carpet Cumbersome chairs and desks limit movement for cooperative learning SOLUTIONS: Purchase new, lighter and more safety conscious desks and chairs for classrooms BENEFITS: All students and staff K 5 would benefit with updated furniture

Replace Flooring CONCERNS: Safety and health concerns with tiles: Tile flooring was originally laid in unfavorable conditions Tiles lift up, causing a tripping hazard Bubbles and lifting tiles have prevented fire doors from closing Constant work orders are submitted to repair and replace tiles Safety and health concerns with carpet: Stains and odors are obvious to students, staff, and community members Sanitary concerns as students sit and utilize the floors in rooms as extended learning environment SOLUTIONS: Replace tiles under favorable conditions with new, safer flooring Replace carpeting in classrooms BENEFITS: Students, staff and community members would all benefit from new flooring

Update Gym CONCERNS: Plug in Projector Loss of space in gym and time consuming to set up table with projector Safety concerns as cords are draped across the floor Issue in PE classes and all school assemblies, concerts, etc. Gym Walls Over 9 years since last painted Visible scuff marks, wear and tear on the walls that detract from the aesthetics of the gym and doesn t present well when hosting students, families and community SOLUTIONS: Purchase and wire a ceiling mounted projector Purchase a cage protector for the projector Repaint the gym walls BENEFITS: All students use the gym for P.E. instruction, during assemblies, concerts, etc. Teachers, parents and community members use the gym for assemblies, concerts and other community events
